So I decided it's time to put all my HDD's together and check for smart errors, and create a tree list of all the directories.
I don't have another USB 2.0 / 3.0 dock so my other 1TB black isn't in here but yeah. 8000+ hours on my WD black 1TB, and no reallocated sectors or pending. I'm happy :)
EDIT: ACTUALLY IM FUCKING RAGED NOW. WINDOWS DECIDED NOT TO IMPORT MY RAID-1 ARRAY PROPERLY, SO ITS NOW TWO INDIVIDUAL DRIVES. ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME

I'm apparently getting an award or something at a Prize Giving Ceremony for Computing. That's unexpected.
Could someone look over this build and see if there are any incompatabilities, or better parts that I should use?

It's for a replacement family computer. Budget ~$700. Green boxes are the ones that I plan to get.

Mostly good, one small problem is the memory controller on the CPU can't handle DDR3 1600 RAM.
Use this instead.

And you don't really need the extra case fans, do you?
Guys, I'm jailbreaking my friends iPad
I backed it up, right?
The backup password isn't working, and I don't know why.
But apparently, if you use Viewer in Mac OSX, copy "Backup Bag Key" value from the backup "manifest.plist" with a working password, to the other one, It'll work fine.
now the problem here is, I need to put mac OS X on a virtual machine, but I don't have Mac OS X, is there any other way to do this.
I can't fucking understand Youtube.
There are so many times, when it takes longer to stream 480p than 720p. Or 240p takes longer than 360p.
That is a bitch when the video only has 480p as a max res or sometimes only 240p.

For my HD4650 it wanted to max everything out.
It wanted to run at low for me too, but the game runs great on max without AA/Vsync

What happened to FP?
Wallmounted one of my monitors, woo!

Needed to get the monitor stand out the way so I could push my keyboard further in on the table as otherwise my wrist was resting on the edge of the table. $15 wall mount to not get carpal tunnel, sweet deal!

Also: My friend wants a laptop for going on holiday with on a 600 quid budget, though he would like it to be cheaper.
tl;dr: is this a good laptop fo the money?
(he only really plays Minecraft btw)

Nice component boxes on the right.
Wow, is it just me or do Dell laptops have absolutely terrible cooling?
My brother has one of those Inspirons and it overheats all the time.
Anyone know the name of that program that can tell you what is taking up space on your HDD?

Thanks
I like SpaceSniffer more myself, it has an interface that doesn't try to melt my brain.

There's more where that came from:

As you can see almost all of the boxes are labeled so I need to get more.

It varies, my Inspiron 1720 was awesome, it never warmed up and was always really quiet.

Dell, like HP is quite divided in their product lineup.
Their consumer products are generally terrible, everyone knows the stereotype that HP laptops overheat which is mostly true and anyone who's opened a pentium 3-pentium 4 era dell probably still hates dell for their case design.
Their enterprise products, however, are some of the best in the market.
When it comes to companies HP and dell do not fuck about and a business oriented laptop will be leagues better than a consumer model in build quality.
I hate HLSW.
No one on our network can log in without timing out and when I try to get chat logs from the server it says it can't find my IP address. Obviously it's on our end as every google result has told me but it's unblocked everywhere in everything, the only thing that's missing is that the UDP port for it is closed. But it should be fine anyways since it worked before on the same router, same modem, same computer. Something would have had to change by itself, randomly.
MAN am I confused.
Guess I'll have to stick to the web console.

I would agree with you there actually.
Ironically, my Dad actually got one of the Vostro laptops, and it is far better than the Inspiron in terms of build quality and price to performance. I didn't expect it to overheat though since it uses a newer, slightly lower clocked i5.
