Oh my cookie Christ Synergy is awesome, I never expected it to be so easy to set up Now I don't have to set my desktop's keyboard and my other giant mechanical keyboard on the desk at the same time. Woo!
God dammit. Windowed source games do not like Synergy. I CAN'T STOP SPINNING, HELP
Tempted to buy some stuff for my computer. Changes I'm contemplating: Case: Swap out my HAF 932 for a Corsair 650D or NZXT Switch 810 Heatsink: Swap out Akasa Venom for Be Quiet! Dark Rock PRO 2 Cabling: Buy some Bitfenix braided extensions to make everything look nice. GPU: Buy a second 570 to SLI. Currently running i7-2600k, so no need to upgrade that. I may double-up on RAM and move to 16GB, but I'm not sure if I need to. Alternative is to go full-watercooling and scratch build myself a wooden case using the mobo tray from the 932. Help me choose people.
What's that synergy thing, only thing I remember being called that was a sorta buggy hl2 mp mod
That was a game. This Synergy is what I'm talking about http://synergy-foss.org
Guys, is Lastpass a good idea? I know that they supposedly can't see anything you put in but I'm paranoid now.
I swear by LastPass. They've never done me wrong
I might switch from KeepAss to LastPass. The former can sometimes be really slow and blah blah.
I might switch from KeepAss to LastPass. The former can sometimes be really slow and blah blah.
That's an interesting capitalization
What do you mean? Most of them are transvestites there. Go into a bar there or something. Damn personal experience
What kind of bars are you going to?
He wants to know so he can satisfy personal needs.
i don't want to start up the browser war again, but apparently firefox main has smooth scrolling by default now
Isn't it just an option to turn it off anyway ?
Isn't it just an option to turn it off anyway ?
probably but i kinda like it
Guys, is Lastpass a good idea? I know that they supposedly can't see anything you put in but I'm paranoid now.
Lastpass is a very good idea. So is lastpass premium.
Should i wait for an Asus Matrix GTX680 or just buy the GTX680 DCU II Top?
I really want to get these ordered tonight, so I'm after a quick answer. I currently have 2x2GB of DDR3 1600MHz Crucial Ballistix 8-8-8-24 at 1.65v. I would like to upgrade to 8GB, should I get this set to add: http://www.ebuyer.com/173129 EDIT: Went ahead and brought it anyway. Should be fine as the specs seem to be exact plus this RAM is on the mobo's supported memory list.
Should i wait for an Asus Matrix GTX680 or just buy the GTX680 DCU II Top?
Go for a 670, I would say. DU II
God damn it. I got crappy GPU performance with two 460s in SLI so I tried all the normal stuff, drivers, up-to-date BIOS etc and still nothing Then, a quick flip of the SLI bridge and now it seems to be running fine Never knew there was a correct orientation for an SLI bridge. I feel so stupid now..
Go for a 670, I would say. DU II
But why? i mean yeah the gtx670 top is as fast as an gtx680 but i don't think there will be as much overclocking room or is there?
How much of a difference does SLI make when done properly?
130% max or something?
SLI and CF scaling generally varies from ~70% to ~96% and sometimes a bit more, sometimes slightly less. Generally sits around 85%-90% from what I've seen.

Just recently got a gaming/media setup with a new PC, using my TV as a monitor. All working great, except that the regular Windows interface isn't really suited to it. Can anyone suggest some alterations/software that are suited to this kind of thing (maybe some HTPC software?), or reliably enlarge the interface so everything's readable from a distance? The default Windows option to do it seems to break a lot of things. Control of the interface with a gamepad would also probably be good, and maybe something for Steam too as I use the setup mostly for games. What do most of you guys use for PCs attached to TVs?
I've not had any problems myself increasing the screen DPI in the Windows settings. What is it breaking on yours? As for software to use, XBMC is a popular HTPC media application.
Guys, is Lastpass a good idea? I know that they supposedly can't see anything you put in but I'm paranoid now.
Absolutely. If you have any doubts at all, read this. Do a ctrl+f for "Okay. So one thing I want to do in this podcast is I'm going to go against something that we've done in the past, which is to rely heavily upon previous podcasts." Because that's about where the talk on LastPass starts. I'm personally in love with the thing.
Well this kind of sucks. There's this odd problem with this computer. Sometimes, when coming out of sleep, the video doesn't come on. Monitor just stays in sleep mode, no matter what I do. As far as I can tell, though, the computer itself is still responding fine, it's just not displaying anything. When I'm running OS X, it's easy to fix. Press power button to sleep it again, then wake it back up. Tedious - it sometimes takes several tries to get it to work. Problem is, for some reason the power button doesn't sleep the computer when in Windows mode. So I either have to wait 5min for it to naturally sleep itself, or just cut the power completely (to make things worse, it *always* reboots in Mac mode, so I have to reboot *again* if I want to use Windows). I've fiddled around with settings, endlessly. I've tried various things to eliminate both problems, but nothing seems to work. Any ideas?
pc power and cooling, corsair, seasonic, silverstone, thermaltake I'm sure I've forgotten something though
Just a side note: PC P&C is now owned by OCZ, so OCZ psu's = PC P&C
