[sp]pro tools sucks ass by the way[/sp]
Also why do you need those headphones precisely?
Also why do you need those headphones precisely?
at least they're okay headphones, although I'm sure people will walk in "yea i saw that list of headphones but I have these beats, just like 50 cent, that r better... "
I'm going for Music Recording Technology And I'm not building a computer. I need a laptop. And I've already got one Mac. One of the classes I take is about Mac's specifically and how they interface with the shit we'll be using. Kind of looking like I'll need one.

Audio engineering, right? and macs just work so much easier in many professional environments, I wouldn't be surprised if a college required you to own one for its exclusive software

No trains required. And I'll have my truck in the event I need to go further/to Starbucks to do homework. I'll just set up my Mac Mini back in my dorm and have my Macbook in my bag with me all the time.
Carrying one of those would be a fucking workout :v:
And that's why I have a gym.
And that's why I have a gym.
yeah if I didn't have to buy a car last week I would have bought a MBP instead They're really great for power and portability. And clearly since I'm on a hackintosh I love the OS
If I had to go to school with headphones I would bring, like, dollar store earbuds or something because I wish to avoid being mugged on the train.
Hell, I just buy them for reliability. I'm not much of an audio nerd. I like music, yeah, even compose on occasion, but the last time I spent $70 on headphones, they broke. Constantly. Eventually they couldn't even be soldered back to functionality. So I went to Best Buy and bought literally the cheapest earbuds they had. And they've lasted ever since. I throw them in my pocket, literally don't give a shit about treating them right, and they last. Mainly out of spite, I think. Although I have been considering buying "better" earbuds. Something with better bass (translation: has bass)

I have JVC HA-RX500s. The outer layer of rubber around the cable is coming away from the plug and it loses sound if the plug or that part of the cable is exactly wrong, but the inner layer of rubber is fine. I think they only got this bad because I run the cord through my belt loops.
You don't need a mac for Audio Engineering. The only mac exclusive DAW is Logic. And since you're probably going to work in Pro Tools, since v 9.0 Pro Tools will work with any interface, LE atleast. If you get Pro Tools M-powered you need a mbox or the like. Just buy a Lenovo or a sager with firewire input.

Just because it doesn't matter what platform you use anymore, doesn't mean it's not going to be forced on you in the industry.

Did just fine without a Macbook, hell, my teacher used Windows. And there are a lot of studios and post houses that DON'T use macs.
except, y'know, some of us who have actually used mac os x before prefer working in it over windows
I used Mac OSX all the time on the lab computers and would bring home my project and load it up on a Windows computer. I preferred Windows because... There is no difference in audio ;) Everything works if you aren't a brain dead retard.
i'm just saying there's literally no reason to recommend a windows PC if someone prefers to use a mac.
I agree.
honestly i only gave him those suggestions to save a bit of money. i would pick mac over pc any day (os wise) IF it supported everything.
If he is serious about it he would go for a cheaper route regardless. You need money to buy general gear. You can't just throw down a bunch of money on one thing and expect to be finished.
so i just built a new pc and installed chrome, but google search is pissing me off. I'm searching things which should be obvious but it's just showing things related to it, like i searched "steam" and the first teo results are videos of portal on steam and the steam tables and portal and stuff somewhat relating to steam. the actual steam website doesnt even show up at all on the first 5 pages. Is there a fix to this?
