I've not had any problems myself increasing the screen DPI in the Windows settings. What is it breaking on yours? As for software to use, XBMC is a popular HTPC media application.
People have told me about bad experiences, nothing specific though so maybe it's not so common. I did have Skyrim's launcher not work though - the Steam Workshop download text wasn't displaying when I had it on 125% or 150%.
Who remembers my 6870s having a 100%+ increase when in CF? I still have those benchmarks somewhere.
found them! to
Go for a 670, I would say. DU II
But why? i mean yeah the gtx670 top is as fast as an gtx680 but i don't think there will be as much overclocking room or is there?
Anyone have any idea why Newegg doesn't stock the ASUS U36-series? They're great laptops. Better battery life than MBP, a ton cheaper with the same performance. [editline]8th June 2012[/editline] And fuck this is cool: http://www.theverge.com/2012/6/8/3071978/noctua-active-noise-cancelling-pc-fan-prototype

As with most noise cancellation, seems to do best for low end sounds.
Pre-ordered a 670 GTX 4GB off Scan like 3 weeks ago and it was meant to be in stock 2 weeks ago, goes overdue for a couple of days, the stock date then gets changed to the 6th of June, now it's overdue again
I think i gonna buy the Asus GTX670 TOP, but how much more can you overclock it?
Just recently got a gaming/media setup with a new PC, using my TV as a monitor. All working great, except that the regular Windows interface isn't really suited to it. Can anyone suggest some alterations/software that are suited to this kind of thing (maybe some HTPC software?), or reliably enlarge the interface so everything's readable from a distance? The default Windows option to do it seems to break a lot of things. Control of the interface with a gamepad would also probably be good, and maybe something for Steam too as I use the setup mostly for games. What do most of you guys use for PCs attached to TVs?
I probably got the most fancy set up of you all. I got an old compaq connected via VGA cable + Headphone jack to the speakers. All of that controlled by a wireless mouse Set up of the year, all years :v:
I think i gonna buy the Asus GTX670 TOP, but how much more can you overclock it?
Not sure what the max is, but I got it running at 130/650.

A 670 won't have enough power to push the effects, resolutions, or textures that would need 4GB. If it wasn't much more, then dismiss me.
Woke up this morning. Smoke alarm was beeping since its battery is dead. We don't have any 9 volt batteries.
Woke up this morning. Smoke alarm was beeping since its battery is dead. We don't have any 9 volt batteries.
I have a rechargable 9 volt battery :science:
I have a rechargable 9 volt battery :science:
See that would be nice, but as it stands my parents are on vacation and my sister is uneasy about anything electric so she's not gonna change it out. So it's basically beeping, audible throughout the entire house, for another 7 hours or so. :v:
Take the battery out?
See it still has a connection to the mains and will still beep if it's not getting a charge from the battery at all TBH I don't know why they put a battery in it if it's hardwired into the mains [editline]8th June 2012[/editline]
She's uneasy about just changing a battery?
Yeah, she thinks she'll break anything even if it's just a simple task
TBH I don't know why they put a battery in it if it's hardwired into the mains
Battery backup when you have a powercut.
Battery backup when you have a powercut.
Yeah I know, but like I said even if the battery is out it will beep I've changed a couple over the years and they don't stop beeping when the battery goes out, only when a new one goes in. But of course it starts beeping during the last night of my parents vacation...
You don't need a mac for Audio Engineering. The only mac exclusive DAW is Logic. And since you're probably going to work in Pro Tools, since v 9.0 Pro Tools will work with any interface, LE atleast. If you get Pro Tools M-powered you need a mbox or the like. Just buy a Lenovo or a sager with firewire input.
Except I have a class that REQUIRES a Mac. The class teaches you ABOUT Mac's.
except I'm at work and they're on the ceiling :v:
Oh. So it isn't bothering you. Well, nothing is wrong then. Keep calm and carry on. Just pray your sister doesn't start a fire today. And either way, the trick would still work.
there are other smoke detectors
This is a foreign concept to me. We've got one and it's like 20 feet from the stove, in the center of the house.
we have one in the kitchen, one in the basement, one in each hallway and one in each bedroom. the one in the upstairs hallway, right outside three of our bedrooms is the one that's beeping

The worst part about my smoke detectors is that they are all inter-connected. If one is having issues there is a cascade of beeping overwhelms the house. The nice part is that they can be silenced for a few hours and the led on the detector having an issue blinks like a strobe light making it easy to find.
