wtf, every single day my computer turns on by itself at exactly 3AM. do I have a ghost in my computer?
Its something to do with the windows score thingy updating at 3am. Have a look through task scheduler, and change everything at 3am to have the wake computer to complete this task box unchecked
Thinkin' of going Ubuntu and dumping Win7 starter all together. But before I do I need a decent external HDD. Any recommends? I just need a 500GB USB 2.0 nothing fancy. Something like this http://www.ascent.co.nz/productspecification.aspx?ItemID=399624 Fuck god page king.
Why would you ever leave Windows 7 for Ubuntu?
Why would you ever leave Windows 7 for Ubuntu?
I think the keyword here is "Starter".
Why would you ever leave Windows 7 for Ubuntu?
Because Win7 Starter is pretty much the same as having no OS at all. Because that's stamped onto the keyboard :v:
Damp a cotton ball with rubbing alcohol, that oughta do the trick
What does it break? I want to know before I download it.
I think the keyword here is "Starter".
Sorry, missed it.
So my netbook can't even run a gamecube emulator... yeah ok. Also, one day left on the humblebundle. Anyone mind sparing me a dollar? I'll give you this shitty Garsharp game from my steam inventory or pay you back as soon as paypal stops being fucking retarded and gives me the validation code for my card again.
So my netbook can't even run a gamecube emulator... yeah ok.
Why would you expect a netbook to be able to do that? :v:
Because the games look worse than games it can actually run? I'm not good at the whole performance measuring thing.
Because the games look worse than games it can actually run? I'm not good at the whole performance measuring thing.
Emulators are incredibly performance-hungry. For example, there's a Java-based GBC emulator for Nokia dumbphones. The average phone can't run any game at playable framerates without frameskipping enabled.
Because the games look worse than games it can actually run? I'm not good at the whole performance measuring thing.
Emulation has a lot of overhead...You're not gonna get 1:1 performance. [editline]13th June 2012[/editline] holy shit slowpunch
Woke up this morning to a PM from some idiot saying shit about Apple computers It was the usual "they're overpriced and can't play games and apples computers get obsolete like other computers" bullshit I find it seriously hard to fathom why people think they're qualified to determine if Apple computers are worth it to other people
it takes 3 minutes for a post to get through, fucking hell. Are we getting DDOS'd again or is FP just being slow?
it takes 3 minutes for a post to get through, fucking hell. Are we getting DDOS'd again or is FP just being slow?
i feel like it's another DDoS
So my netbook can't even run a gamecube emulator... yeah ok..
My single core atom can run N64 games pretty well. PS1 runs pretty slowly, but it'd work if you had a dual core, I'm sure.
Content: Dude just called me telling me I should SLI my 9400GT with another 9400GT for "twice the performance" Yeah PS1 games run pretty badly in this and N64 is smooth. So far i've played OOT (still haven't got past the first level because it feels wrong to play it without a proper controller) and finished Beneath a Steel Sky on this thing. Recommend me some games to play on it or somethin'.
Paper Mario is awesome yo

Because there are practically no other differences.
Heeey Facepunch is back
My PC can run an SNES emulator at about 20 FPS.
Hah, The BIOS on my Asus board supports the Logitech g27... ...I can change BIOS settings with a racing wheel. How ridiculous.

Because there are practically no other differences.
Well he literally said "Apple computers are overpriced" They're expensive, yes, but if you're comparing a MacBook to your average shitty DV6, the DV6 is noticeably worse in quality You don't buy a Mac to play games either, and it's not like there aren't a few games for Mac OS either (Diablo 3 anyone) And he was like "well apple forces you to update so your java can actually work blah blah blah" That's like saying "You have to upgrade from Windows 98 to XP to get the latest java" which, y'know, all computers have to do once in awhile (upgrade, that is)
Infographic I made when I was bored. Compares Retina displays with current standards [t]http://i.imgur.com/sBjh7.png[/t]
That's like saying "You have to upgrade from Windows 98 to XP to get the latest java" which, y'know, all computers have to do once in awhile (upgrade, that is)
Microsoft products have much longer support lives though. I think 98 was supported for more than a decade.
Apple practically deprecates their OS every few years which is a bit irritating IMHO as I would rather not buy new versions of my operating system more than once or twice per decade if humanely possible.
I am typing this on my just-refurbished IBM Model M2. It took me 8 hours to get this fucker to work. One to take it apart and clean the thing (holy shit F5 was dirty as hell), one to desolder the old caps and replace them with new ones, the rest of the time was spent trying to reassemble it. There is a huge room for error when >100 springs must be placed precisely in their places and must stay in that place until the thing is fully closed up. Ughughuughughughjkfjafkldflaejfdfjaeofafjdkafjajfieafjaldfjakjfeiaj
-snip- I'm an idiot, I was thinking of something else.
Um, last I check Apple didn't force anyone to do that.
