Deeps did quite a bit. Ignoring WWDC 2012, Apple is being a bigger dick than ever. We still tolerate macs on a daily basis, much more so than before.
I think our little forums have started growing up.
Pretty much what Apple is aiming for.
Sure the punch isn't big but it's decent enough and fits to their average users's needs.
The amount of retarded posts I've seen about Apple in here lately is hilarious. Sure Apple's pricing and designs are a bit odd but it sells. They're doing something right, and calling their user base idiots, illiterates, or whatever you can to call them put you below them. Shut up about Apple's pricing. It's mostly justified with the reliability of their products, the amazing support they offer, the almost 100% guarantee your machine will work without a hitch when you open it, of course the brand name, and now the screen. Aw boo Macs have no games.. Are you still in the early 2000s? Mac games/ports are coming out more than ever lately. Sure you won't be playing the next Call of Duty or Elder Scrolls on OSX but then you all have to remember Macs were never all about gaming. Call it overpriced if you like, it's mostly justified. Sure they can lower things by maybe $150 or so but so can almost everything else.
Bit late to responding to this, but...
I'm not complaining about the price. They're great laptops, somewhat worth the price (most of the "overpriceyness" is really just the price for the build quality) and have great compatibility (you can run windows pretty much natively). Now, on to what i was saying before. Really, its all about apple making tons of money off of you. There isn't much else of a reason. If you want to tell me how having the display fused to the assembly, or not having an upgradeable SSD, or having the ram soldered to the motherboard saves money, go right ahead, because it just doesn't make any sense to me.

It has nothing to do with saving money. It has to do with design and Apple's aesthetic goals for their products. They're all about being as thin and small as possible while packing a good punch. And my posted was aimed at all the retarded Apple related posts.

This made me laugh.
Every company wants your money.
Well think about it. It probably costs about 600-700 dollars to replace the screen on the latest 2012 13"/15" macbook pro, when on the 2009 macbook pro 13"/15" it would cost about 300 to replace it. Both cost the same price on launch.

Yes, but they shouldn't do stuff like this to get it.

Apple doesn't replace screens like that, they literally give you a new laptop and transfer all your data if you're within your warranty. If you happen to be out of your warranty you pay like $200 or something which is reasonable since it's more like a restocking fee and for the service.
I only know this since I had to do this once because I'm clumsy and gave my old MacBook a boo boo.

I'm not sure that they do this anymore. I remember a couple of years ago I called apple up (still under warranty) because my screen was fucked and they told me I had to pay for a new screen plus labor (around 500ish).
What are you talking about? Their prices are fairly reasonable.
I was talking about repair prices.
People are going to keep buying Apple's products for ever their reason maybe but at the core of it is that the like the product and want to pay whatever the price tag is to have it the way the like. This can be said about anything out there. People here, and generally anywhere, crying about Apple being overpriced need to suck it up and politely shut the hell up. It's annoying and nothing comes from their complaining/bitching. It's like children crying about a toy they don't like becoming popular and they need a reason to whine about it.
I can rant all I want about this, and no I'm not an Apple fanboy. Sure I used their products for years and still do but that's because they fit my needs and wants, for example I'll pay the price tag for the next iPhone since I'll be due for a new phone by then and new iOS/iPhone fits my needs even better than my current iPhone. Plus I can still reply on Apple's great in-store support and shit. Also, I no longer use their computers since PCs meet my needs and wants.

Well I guess you have proved me wrong and i will "politely shut the hell up".
I didn't mean to be rude, so if I came off as rude then I apologize. I'm just annoyed with all the stupid unwarranted Apple hate that boomed when the Retina Display equipped MacBooks Pros were announced/released. Yeah I should have expected that to happen whenever Apple does something but since prices went up for the new screens I lost brain cells when I went to any Apple related thread here or on other sites.
I normally do not explode like I did tonight.
Woke up this morning to a PM from some idiot saying shit about Apple computers
It was the usual "they're overpriced and can't play games and apples computers get obsolete like other computers" bullshit
I find it seriously hard to fathom why people think they're qualified to determine if Apple computers are worth it to other people
That guy PMng him was me, I was reading dumb shit he said 20 pages back and didn't want to crap up the thread with an argument. This genius managed to shit up the thread anyway though, and im not sitting by while my arguments are grossly misrepresented by someone who cant be honest, so here we go. First of all, I replied to his post that said that there was never a reason to recommend a pc over a mac if the person preferred mac os, something that is false due to many factors which happen to include games and pricepoint. A person could prefer a mac but want something reasonably priced, or they might want to play a wider variety of games or a specific game thats not for mac. Are you not allowed to point out these few examples of the many disparities that exist? For example, if you prefer a Ferrari for the color choices (i know nothing about cars, dont kill me) but if there's a car from BMW thats the same price with far more performance in every aspect, only lacking a certain style of door handle, and you go with the ferrari, nobody is going to stop you but you shouldn't expect people to agree with you and let someone else make a bad decision when you recommend the same to them.
And he was like "well apple forces you to update so your java can actually work blah blah blah"
That's like saying "You have to upgrade from Windows 98 to XP to get the latest java" which, y'know, all computers have to do once in awhile (upgrade, that is)
On old (as in, 08ish) macs apple blocks you from updating java(and assorted other software), essentially forcing you to pay them more money if you want to use programs in newer versions, no matter how lightweight the actual application. When i say it blocks it I'm referring to how you need to do java updates through their update system and there's no way (at least as far as i was willing to go on a friend's computer) to get around that, the java site has no mac downloads at least and they direct you to the auto updater built in, which only has an obscenely outdated version on it.
Now... last i checked, Microsoft didn't prevent you from using the newest versions of third party software if you were still on vista. Apparently there's this thing called XP people can still use too. Amazing how not intentionally fucking your customers over can make operating systems last longer than 2 years. I also find it hilarious you made a comparison to windows 98. Your comparison is off by about a decade buddy.
He also said macs will always be higher quality than PCs, when you are comparing a single company against wide array of companies this just doesn't make sense. Not to mention custom builds by individuals and custom build companies that can easily reach the upper echelons of quality. There are PCs with horrible build quality and build quality far superior. There are PCs in all of these categories that are still significantly cheaper than macs.
Oh, and apparently macs are always better for "professional use". *snicker*

I'd rather buy one of those massive res IPS monitors
You guys fail to see the reason.
Apple is aiming for a slim design, you all should know that by now.
Sure it hurts the customer, or the customer who knows a thing or a two, but in the end you get a sleek and thin laptop which Apple has been aiming for since the introduction of the unibody design.
Plus, it sells.
I don't really think the marginal space difference between soldering the RAM to the motherboard and not doing so doesn't really justify doing so unless apple doesn't want you to

If Apple makes a Retina version of their monitors, the resolution will be in the region of 5120x2880 to 5760x3600.
Apple! Go invent this thing so I can give you my money!
