They could make mad money selling just the monitors as normal monitors if they have everything patented.
I am scared that the new Retina Display will have something real bad to them.
like serious input lag or like some rows not updating properly maybe or some shit like that.
If Apple makes a Retina version of their monitors, the resolution will be in the region of 5120x2880 to 5760x3600.
Apple! Go invent this thing so I can give you my money!
Even better, the resolution is so high that the only games you can play in the native res is HL1 and Minecraft! :v:

They're coming, they'd be insane not to.
Well, even more insane.
Alright, this is probably too far fetched, but there is this thing I want to order, but it only ships to the US.
Is there anybody who would be willing to get it sent to them and send it on to Estonia?
I would obviously pay the postage.

There are tons of dropshipping services available, but someone would do it for a few bucks.
That guy PMng him was me, I was reading dumb shit he said 20 pages back and didn't want to crap up the thread with an argument. This genius managed to shit up the thread anyway though, and im not sitting by while my arguments are grossly misrepresented by someone who cant be honest, so here we go. First of all, I replied to his post that said that there was never a reason to recommend a pc over a mac if the person preferred mac os, something that is false due to many factors which happen to include games and pricepoint. A person could prefer a mac but want something reasonably priced, or they might want to play a wider variety of games or a specific game thats not for mac. Are you not allowed to point out these few examples of the many disparities that exist? For example, if you prefer a Ferrari for the color choices (i know nothing about cars, dont kill me) but if there's a car from BMW thats the same price with far more performance in every aspect, only lacking a certain style of door handle, and you go with the ferrari, nobody is going to stop you but you shouldn't expect people to agree with you and let someone else make a bad decision when you recommend the same to them.
Your basis of argument is a door handle? Are you kidding me?
Let me use my own shitty car analogy since apparently fair is fair
I could have bought a Mustang or any other powerful RWD sports car. What did I end up with? A base model Honda Prelude S. Why? I preferred the interior, the bulletproof reliability of Hondas, and the car was in great condition. But I guess I'm stupid for not getting a Mustang or something with more horsepower under the hood, because raw power is apparently the only thing that makes computers worth it.
Since this is so hard for you to comprehend, Apple computers are a lot more reliable. I have not seen a single one fail aside from reasons of negligence and poor ownership. With Apple computers, you get way better support (Try calling Asus support for example, they're probably the best but they can still leave a lot to be desired. Apple's Genius bar has been the most painless support I've ever had. Walk in with a problem, walk out with it fixed guaranteed.)
On old (as in, 08ish) macs apple blocks you from updating java(and assorted other software), essentially forcing you to pay them more money if you want to use programs in newer versions, no matter how lightweight the actual application. When i say it blocks it I'm referring to how you need to do java updates through their update system and there's no way (at least as far as i was willing to go on a friend's computer) to get around that, the java site has no mac downloads at least and they direct you to the auto updater built in, which only has an obscenely outdated version on it.
Like I said, it's a fucking 2008 macbook. Time to upgrade. I've had a 6 year old Vaio with a Core Duo that ran windows terribly and W7 wasn't officially supported by Sony. So why doesn't Sony get any flak?
Now... last i checked, Microsoft didn't prevent you from using the newest versions of third party software if you were still on vista. Apparently there's this thing called XP people can still use too. Amazing how not intentionally fucking your customers over can make operating systems last longer than 2 years. I also find it hilarious you made a comparison to windows 98. Your comparison is off by about a decade buddy.
Windows, by nature, is different and meant to install on different machines, hence its popularity. Microsoft only supports XP by applying security updates. Support of the OS to machines is down to manufacturers.
He also said macs will always be higher quality than PCs, when you are comparing a single company against wide array of companies this just doesn't make sense. Not to mention custom builds by individuals and custom build companies that can easily reach the upper echelons of quality. There are PCs with horrible build quality and build quality far superior. There are PCs in all of these categories that are still significantly cheaper than macs.
There are only a few manufacturers that make decent consumer models. Dells are awful, HPs are awful, Acer is hit and miss, and Asus is probably the best. But the chassis for my new Asus laptop has a lot of flex in places. It gets hot just browsing the internet. Asus' software is sometimes very unreliable. Whereas if you'd just buy a mac, quote "It Just Works"
Oh, and apparently macs are always better for "professional use". *snicker*
Don't knock it until you try it. XCode has been the best IDE I have ever seen. Pity it's solely for iOS development.
I don't care for this argument at all, but one thing got me.
Don't knock it until you try it. XCode has been the best IDE I have ever seen. Pity it's solely for iOS development.
This really is subjective for the most part, I fucking love Visual Studio but hate XCode, I hate the interface, and I know people who are the exact opposite.

I like VS as well, but look at XCode's diff tool

It takes a lot of getting used to and it's actually moderately unstable but it has a lot going for it
[editline]14th June 2012[/editline]
I just think the whole argument is dumb and if you say "apple is overpriced" you aren't looking at everything you get with the device.

I'm sure it is, but that Diff tool looks just as good as SourceGears DiffMerge. I'm just saying, the context you were mentioning XCode in made it sound like you tried to force it onto others as the best IDE (Which doesn't, and never will exist. Because it is impossible to cater to everyone).

All this talk about Apple's high resolution screen, I actually prefer 1366x768 on my 15" Dell than I would 1920x1080.

1440x900 is pretty much the highest I'd go at that size. (and that's basically the working resolution of its Retina display)
I do enjoy 1080p on my 25" monitor though

Why? Not saying it's bad, just wondering.
I personally am fine with my 1366x768 15" Dell, but I'd LOVE that Retina on this.

MyUS is good, as is reship.com
I think he's not counting the DPI scaling. I could understand 1366x768 size desktop on 15.6", but if you went up tp 2732x1536 it would be no trouble at all with DPI scaling.

I think so as well
There's an alarming amount of people who don't understand how Retina display works
Even with DPI scaling, viewing images on a webpage will either be tiny or stretched.
Even with DPI scaling, viewing images on a webpage will either be tiny or stretched.
DPI scaling affects webpages, just means you can view a lot more without major loss of clarity.
DPI scaling affects webpages, just means you can view a lot more without loss of clarity of image quality
You can also set the default Chrome page zoom.
DPI scaling is terrible and I should never have to do it.
:(

That's not possible, you can't just magic some extra pixels in an image.
This is how DPI scaling works at a higher res. (this is at 150% scaling)
1280x1024
[t]http://imgkk.com/i/pib4.png[/t]
2560x2048

Mind you these are both at default zoom rates in opera.

Is it me or is that blurry as fuck.
Is it me or is that blurry as fuck.
The top one is because it's at a bad scaling rate for that res, it's just for comparison
Maybe I'm just used to bad font rendering :d
Blurry as fuck Captain!
