anyone here with an AMD card on 12.4? are they better / not shit like the other 12.x? i reverted to 11 something awhile ago and am wondering if i should finally go up to the latest now
12.5b works fine for me right now. 12.3 worked nicely with my card as well. Maybe I had a problem with 12.4, but I'm not sure as it only appeared once before I reverted.
Guess who's never buying a Gigabyte product ever again.
Just fix your shit Gigabyte, your BIOS implementation sucks, fix it.
Then again, there's a lot of manufacturers who haven't implemented PCI-E powersaving properly, sigh.
When I get a new laptop, looks like I'll need to be careful.
Hmmm, having some text encoding issues on linux, can't get my python program to spit out IBM OEM extended characters.
So hey. I'm back.
Did I miss anything?

Yeah, I bought a cheap 1TB drive a few weeks ago, slapped W7 on it, and slapped it in the Mac Pro.
Actually a bit annoyed about one thing, though. As it turns out, the version of Boot Camp that installs on this version doesn't think Windows can do 64-bit on it, so it forced itself into 32-bit mode when I installed. Didn't notice it until I noticed I only had 2GB of RAM. Apparently (I asked in QQ) you can't easily re-install in 64-bit mode, and I haven't had problems with it yet, so I won't bother reinstalling the OS and all my stuff just for 3GB extra RAM.

Unfortunate.
Unfortunate.
It's not so bad.
I mean, I haven't felt the lack of RAM. Nothing seems slow because it's paging out, or is crashing because it's out of memory. It's just sort of odd. So I haven't fixed it, because fixing it would be more of a nuisance than leaving it be.
Although I do sort of wonder why it's only 2GB, not 3.5GB. The video card's only 512MB, and there's not much else that could use up address space.

Are there any ways to remove most of the crap windows 7 comes with so it runs faster or doesn't start as many processes on startup? Either making a new ISO or from the OS.

I had dinner with my dad, brother, and my brothers girlfriend.
She didn't bring up how on FB, me and wingless are in a relationship.
She had 'liked' it on FB.
Maybe she was trying to protect you from your father..

It's part of the bloody spec, you either implement it or you fuck off.
The only reason they haven't implemented it properly is because Windows doesn't use it properly, so they don't care about following the spec.

Funny. You remember the recent Oracle/Google case? Well, that was the same damned issue. Google failed to implement Java correctly yet everyone was going "Omg google bettr win!!"
(Except that 9 lines of code part, that was just HILARIOUS)
Facepunch is funny.

That's different because Google wasn't *claiming* to have implemented Java exactly to spec. They made it quite clear that it was their own virtual machine, which was *mostly* compatible with the Java language and API. They did NOT use the Java trademark, and they explicitly said "we do not guarantee any arbitrary Java program will run".
Moreover, Oracle wasn't suing them for misusing the Java trademark or not implementing the spec properly - they were suing because they claimed the API itself was copyrightable and copyrighted. Had Google implemented it exactly to spec, they would have taken that as an even stronger argument for their side.

Most of all, though, Oracle is a Designated Bad Guy, suing a former Designated Good Guy.
So, a friend of my friend was over at the place of a guy I know over the weekend.
The friend of a friend went to the guy's computer, opened up the start bar, searched "sex", found the guy's porn folder, took a screenshot and uploaded it to imgur.
Now I'm taking a piss on the guy who hid his damn porn in C:\World of Warcraft\Screenshots
He had a shortcut to the folder right on his desktop, next to The Sims shortcut and his girlfriend actually plays Sims on the machine, talk about disaster recovery skills if that happens.
I'm just not sure how long I can bullshit this guy for over Facebook, he asked me how I knew what was on his desktop and I told him I'm a wizard.
I'm not a good bullshitter.

Huh, guess I was wrong. Either way you look at it, Oracle was being Oracle, a massive asshole.
Still, if I recall Microsoft lost the exact same case a few years back, but don't quote me on that.
Does anyone want to do another skype chat?

Does Fallout 3 not run on Windows 7? I keep having trouble where it starts up and I'll get to play it for around 30 seconds then it just freezes.
