A simple guide to posting in CIPWTTKT&GC, by horsedrowner.
1. Does the content you want to post show computer illiteracy?
2. Is the content you want to post related to the topic at hand?
3. Do you want to start a new discussion, and is that discussion in some way related to Hardware & Software?
If you answered "yes" to one or more of the above questions, then go ahead and post.
If you answered "no" to all of the above questions, or if the content you want to post is against the rules, don't post.
It's in the op, now.

Balmer hasn't changed much, has he?
I remember seeing that MS-DOS 5 promo somewhere else.
The way they do that shit and how they incorporate is actually not bad.

I actually find him to be more sincere than many other people. It seems like his crazy enthusiasm is actually real.

What did he write on the Macbook other than his signature?
"Need a new one?"

Oh wow, the content just comes right to me.
He had previously smashed the LCD on his ancient toshiba laptop, so he has decided to remove the entire display and plug what's left into a TV. I reinstalled windows 7 for him around January ish, he has already managed to fuck the entire installation.

I did small benchmarks in the beginning of Shore Leave mission in Crysis Warhead with my GTX 460 and old 8800GT.
Gamer settings, no AA. Resolution at 1600x900 windowed.
My CPU is Q6600 @ 2.4GHz (normal clocks) and RAM 4GB.
8800GT
Frames, Time (ms), Min, Max, Avg
3558, 120000, 17, 50, 29.650
GTX 460
Frames, Time (ms), Min, Max, Avg
5147, 120000, 15, 79, 42.892
It was almost unplayable with the 8800GT. Even though average framerate was around 30 FPS, the game was stuttering really badly.
I wonder if I should redownload Battlefield 3 and benchmark it. It wouldn't fix the awful stuttering even on minimun settings with my GTX 460, though.

Actually if he had removed the monitor in a way that didn't break things that would be pretty cool. Just casually sitting on a sofa and using a computer that's nothing but the lower half of a laptop.
Even better if you could have some sort of a discreet HMD, everyone'd think you're all sorts of crazy.

I'm running it on Ultra with a 460, you must be doing something wrong.

I just dont understand why you would rive at the display until the hinges broke, disassemble it properly!

Desperation leads to serious measures.
And besides, shit was meant to break right?

The USB wifi dongles aren't that bad, I used one for quite a while when my terrible D-Link wireless card broke down. It got a decent signal from about seventy five feet away through five layers of drywall, and it was one of the super cheap internal antenna $10 ones.
[editline]21st June 2012[/editline]
Also I agree, the idea if a headless laptop is kind of cool. If I ever have a laptop with a broken screen, that's what I'm doing.

I've had nothing but trouble from my netgear USB dongles.
Thank fuck for gigabit Ethernet!
I can work at a tape factory.
That's fun, the machines are from Italy and sometimes have funny engrish, like PUSH BOTTONS and so.

We'll see once I've redownloaded the game.
I don't remember BF3 being over 16GB when I first downloaded it.
[editline]21st June 2012[/editline]
Takes about 5 hours to download it all with my connection.
