wow the motherboard im getting, onboard wifi. why is this not more common
Because most desktop computers are set in a single place and not moved often, therefore making wired internet the more viable option?
because my router is on the other side of the house and i'm unable to run a wire?
wow the motherboard im getting, onboard wifi. why is this not more common
because people who need wireless can just spend the extra on a wireless NIC instead
What's the best way of moving a Windows install to completely new hardware (Mobo/CPU)? I remember you needed the install disk to do it on XP, but I have never done this for 7.
hard drive staying the same? if so, you just unplug replug, windows should say "hey u changed a lot of shit recently, gotta reactivate me"

Make sure you have your key handy before you format and reinstall. Unrelated, but I'd rather my motherboard had integrated Bluetooth over integrated wifi. There have been quite a few times where bluetooth would be fucking awesome for my computer (like PS3 controllers, or speakers on a few occasions), but not enough occasions to warrant a wireless card/dongle.
sorry about that sekcobra i guess i got mixed up last time i had to do something like that

Uhm, no? Windows only needs to be reset to a "o hai wat hardware lifz in dis pc?" status and that's it. Yes you have to reactivate after that (hint: windows always goes into trial mode for 90 fucking days, so why the fuck are you even thinking about the activation?) I can gurantee you, even if I might not have done it for Win7 or know how to do it, there is a (simple) way to just reset some files and boot windows like any other day. Maybe check your facts or just spend a second thinking about why it doesn't work directly, and you could figure it out yourself.
Windows hasn't even been really bad as far as drivers go I remember back in the XP days when a different motherboard meant you're usually guaranteed a bluescreen every startup afterwards and then you'd absolutely need to reinstall, but that's not true in Windows 7 anymore. I've never been forced to reinstall, it was usually by choice and I just threw everything into Windows.old.
Actually can you install without a reformat? I have never actually tried that.
I changed CPU and motherboard recently, completely different chipset and completely different manufacturer. Didn't need to re-install or re-activate Windows.
Actually can you install without a reformat? I have never actually tried that.
Yeah, there should be an option to move everything into a folder called Windows.old. That's how I've reinstalled Windows across the years without having to redownload Steam games
Where would you find the Windows.old files? I think that's eating up some space on my tiny SSD
Where would you find the Windows.old files? I think that's eating up some space on my tiny SSD
Usually on your C drive, next to all the other directories like Program Files and Windows.
Where would you find the Windows.old files? I think that's eating up some space on my tiny SSD
In the root folder of your OS drive titled Windows.old I have all of these for example Granted I've cleaned them all out since they were made but still
I installed Steam on my SSD. Oh dear.. [editline]7th July 2012[/editline] I guess this is better than having it empty all the time, though. I would've wasted my money for it if I didn't have any use for it.
also guys who's the best ssd again?
I'm the best SSD. [editline]7th July 2012[/editline]
I installed Steam on my SSD. So i had everything ready for my new build this weekend. Started unpackaging everything and about to put the CPU in when i noticed it didn't fit. The cunts at amazon sent me an Intel Xeon 1.6Ghz packaged in an i5 2400 3.10Ghz. I could feel myself turning green in rage. Did they think someone wouldn't possibly have noticed?

How on earth did they manage that?
Most likely someone bought an i5, and returned it to get a refund with an old processor in the box. People do that kind of stuff all the time. I'm sure amazon will work with you. [editline]7th July 2012[/editline]
I've only got 4 dimms, I'd have to find 16GB sticks for 64 GB. I don't know any place that sells that shit [editline]7th July 2012[/editline] no idea what kind of voodoo I'd have to do to get a motherboard with 8 dimms, my M5A99X EVO isn't exactly low end. I imagine you probably have to get one of EVGA's super ricer boards or a dual socket board for that kind of memory [editline]7th July 2012[/editline] ok apparently you just have to have an intel processor and ~$250, no voodoo involved Makes me wonder why AMD motherboards always seems to be behind in some regard, right now they're still mostly stuck on 4 dimms and pcie 2.x and intel boards are apparently up to 12 dimms and pcie 3.x
The cheapest DDR3 64gb set is going to cost you in the $320-350 range.
Been looking to move to 32gb as my Minecraft stuff has been using about 12gb alone, Throw in sony vegas and photoshop I'm running out. But G.skill doesn't make any sniper 32gb kits or even 8gb modules. But I want small DDR3-1600 9.9.9.24 modules.
My power is still down and the area around my house has such bad cell signal that I'm forced to sit in the park with my netbook to use this stupid mobile hotspot thing which refuses to work with my iPT, fuck Oh well I guess going outside isn't so bad once in a while

Also, i'm nearly certain you only need to reactivate with an OEM copy.

I'm currently running a gtx 460, looking to upgrade. Is the 6950 a decent upgrade for 185 euros?
