so after i took the keycaps off of my keyboard, the g and l switches are really stiff and won't bottom out unless i press really hard. i took the keycaps off in sort of a crude way, by prying around them with a nail file, so i suspect this is what messed them up. do you guys know anything in the way of switch replacement/repair? [editline]8th July 2012[/editline] keyboard is a dell at101w with black alps switches. this is really throwing off my typing too :suicide:
I bought this laptop from bestbuy and the guy asks me what I was going to do with it (to get an idea on what else to sell me). I say "wipe it and install Linux" and the guys face was a mixture between "Are you joking?" and "Wait, what?".
so I sorted out my temperatures
using two screens for the first time, it feels so damn weird...
using two screens for the first time, it feels so damn weird...
Going back to one screen is worse. My 2 months with two screens made me understand why some people hope for an after-life.
Never used more than one screen, I feel I don't need more than 1.
I'm barely living with 2 screens, I've been using this Input Director program (Like Synergy, except Synergy doesn't want to work for me) with my laptop for a 3rd display and oh jeez it's hard going back to 2 every so often.
Anyone know where to get a decent 11" touch screen overlay panel for a netbook? Just installed Windows 8 and it's begging to have a touch screen added!
I had 2 screens, 1 broke and now I am back to one. I still have the need for two sometimes but I do not want to have a 17" with a 19".
I had 2 screens, 1 broke and now I am back to one. I still have the need for two sometimes but I do not want to have a 17" with a 19".
I'm at one screen right now, having a 17" and a 19" isn't too bad.
I am well aware of that this isn't the quick questions thread or the headphone guide (though I posted there first), but I'm going to Paris tomorrow, and I would like to order a pair of IEMs today, so that I can get them when I come home (the cheap ones I'm looking at is in Hong Kong or something). So allow me to cross post, a small itty bit (might spawn headphone discussion as well, who knows?):
I've just got a job in a cinema which is ~25 minutes away on bicycle - and I like to listen to music while going there. In this case I can't have the headphones being a hindrance, and right now I'm using the headphones that came with my HTC Radar. They're okayish for something that came with the phone, but they aren't very good, and I'd like to have better sound quality. The KM-92 looks like something that would fit me quite well (I'm cheap, and while on a bicycle you're gonna have the wind blowing all the time anyway), but I'd be willing to go up to around ~40$ (with change) for a pair if it would give me considerably better sound quality (which I suspect it might). I have a pair of Philips SHP8900 at home, and they're pretty good for what they are - so take this as my my standard of what pretty good sound quality is. I like to listen to music by Jamiroquai (especially while cycling), and their music span from pretty bass dominated tracks like this (I realise that the quality is pretty shite, but what are you gonna do with Youtube): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZtrGW--ot44 to this (again there's noise and stuff on this): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hKYlAHeBaoQ to this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1hHSH9sJUEo&feature=relmfu Anyhow, I would like the headphones to act well in the higher bass spectrum, good middles and not too shabby highs - so all around "good", but biased towards the middle-lower spectrum. I realize that this might mean "I want this spectrum to not be complete shit" in this price range, but there it is. I might buy some over-ear headphones for a higher price later on, but when it's really just for something on the go, I won't throw gold at it.
Basically, looking for cheap IEMs that does well in the low middle spectrum (I'm not all that great with sound, but that's my guess), they need to be somewhat good at blocking out sound (bicycle) and decent build quality. I'm cheap, so I'm looking at some 6$ ones (I'm not gonna use them that much), but I'll extend my budget to ~40-50$ if it'll get me something of considerably better quality.
Soundmagic E30 would suit you, I imagine.
nonononono don't buy those, mine broke after less than a month of normal use buy these beautiful things: http://www.amazon.co.uk/RHA-MA-350-Aluminium-Isolating-Earphones/dp/B0053R0WWG/ref=sr_1_fkmr0_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1341764437&sr=8-1-fkmr0 [t]http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/61TWpryiKQL._AA1000_.jpg[/t] I've had them just over 2 months and they're working fine, the cable is good quality and the overall build quality is great. They have a 3 year warranty and the company behind them are British and so have much better customer support than the seemingly nonexistant people at SoundMagic. They aren't built on the cheap like SoundMagics products either. Comes with a little carry case and 3 sizes of silicon tips, the silicon tips certainly aren't comfortable but that's to be expected. You might want to pick up some Comply T-400/S-400's if you're looking for comfort. [editline]8th July 2012[/editline] oh yeah sound quality, nice deep and punchy bass, highs can get a bit irritating if you don't have the tips sealed completely at high volumes but nothing a Loudness EQ can't fix but overall excellent and definitely the best I've heard sub £80 compared to the SoundMagic in terms of sound, they're very much the same; but these are cheaper, better built and aren't made by chinese children [editline]8th July 2012[/editline] I've just listened to some Jamiroquai and it sounds great on these, if you're cycling the stock tips will do great because they stay in well and provide some excellent noise isolation

Please don't tell me you want to use In-Ear, because regardless of legality, it is highly irresponsible and dangerous.
I'm confused, how is it illegal to wear IEMs?
It's illegal in many countries because they cancel most outside noise. So you can't steer any vehicles, that includes bikes.

I'm thinking 6, just to be nice and I can't really imagine more than 3 screens side-by-side, but nobody said anything about going up. Or perhaps a chair that spins around properly, and surround myself with screens.
It's illegal in many countries because they cancel most outside noise. So you can't steer any vehicles, that includes bikes.
If they were illegal in many countries then they wouldn't make them.
If they were illegal in many countries then they wouldn't make them.
They're illegal to use while driving or riding a bicycle. To be fair, that ought to be true for *any* headphones, since they all block out a lot of outside noise, but I'm not the one writing the laws.
If they were illegal in many countries then they wouldn't make them.
Are you unable to read? No one said the device itself is illegal, using it in traffic is.

Ok apparently you can't read.
From which backwards-ass country to you reside, SEKCobra?
No I can. I read a book today. btw, The Things They Carried is a great book
From which backwards-ass country to you reside, SEKCobra?
So you can't write, thanks for the input.
I was unaware that headphones make it impossible to turn a car wheel.
So you can't write, thanks for the input.
Why are you being such a hard butt about it?
I was unaware that headphones make it impossible to turn a car wheel.
you guys don't get a joke how sad
