For some reason my monitors feel way brighter from when I left a few hours ago. Weird thing is, none of my settings were changed on my monitors or CCC.
ncix.ca is having a summer sale with some sweet ssd deals
Not seeing samsung in there though
I'll have to check it out, I keep forgetting NCIX exists... Probably because it isn't as fun to look around as newegg. I also don't like how their site doesn't accurately display if something is out of stock, I've probably had three instances where I've bought something only to get an email asking if I want a refund or a substitution.
I still feel like SSDs are kind of experimental, so I'm holding off on getting one.
i'm rather patient anyways.
This is why I'm holding off on using it in my desktop for now. With my laptop, I have important stuff in my dropbox and it's my secondary computer anyway, so I can afford to experiment on it. Which is why I had Windows 8 on my old laptop for two months.

(even more so considering that i have a total of like 500 channel views)
i still vote for sheep computer memorial edition or Have you tried turning it off and on?

Well that's good to know.
I'm probably just being over-paranoid, because after all I've been through with this, I am NOT going to immediately break it. Again.

Not a Sager Np9150.
There is your problem/answer.
and why move /home just set it up on install.
[editline]9th July 2012[/editline]
and try the hibernation file on the ssd. I have a 240gb Samsung and hibernate boot is hilariously fast, plus I could care less how long this drive lasts seeing as I got it for $100.

1) Asus refused to give me a refund to buy one
2) Last time I asked here about setting up stuff on an SSD, everyone told me NOT to put the hiberfile on the SSD. I'm inclined to agree, if only because devoting 10% of my SSD to the hiberfile seems kind of dumb.
my EVGA 260 gtx can play bf3 on high/ultra.
This card still amazes me.

On my 240 drive is is about 7% at 16gb.
It was a pain when both the hibernation file and cache where 16gb. I actually have it disabled at the moment though, did some tests and on this laptop sleep mode barely touches the battery.

Does the laptop have switchable GPU's (Switchable between the IGP and Dedicated)? If so, you're going to have a shitload of "fun" with Arch. Linux doesn't like that, yet.
Wow. SSDs for $.70/GB. We'll probably witness the death of mechanical drives within two years.
Mechanical drives won't be going away anytime soon. SSD makers needs to stop putting in new NAND chips with smaller lithography size because they lasts drastically shorter and is driving SSDs to a dead end at this rate.

The 10 year limit isn't too bad, though. Did it get worse?

Just save the hardware, fuck the data!
But even after you've done all those steps you could of just put out the fire with a fire extinguisher.
Those steps are for A/C failure. Also, I recommend leaving any professional server room in case of fire, many have CO fire extinguioshing systems that kill you without hesitation.
Read ZAX 8700 and thought someone had left it as a joke or had named the computer after fallout
The 10 year limit isn't too bad, though. Did it get worse?
It has already gotten worse and will get worse as the lithography goes down. According to a certain write benchmark (forgot the source), an SSD with 45nm NAND chips will last up to 68 years on average day usages for most people as opposing to 18 years on the new 22nm chips. However, keep in mind that these numbers varies depending on lots of factors such as the brand and quality of the chips and how well the controller handles them.

Are there any breakthroughs that will improve them in the future, or are SSDs going to hit a brick wall soon?

Why the fuck are my idle temps so bad. I haven't done anything intensive in 3 hours and my fans are at max.
My ASUS mobo shows incorrect temps in Speccy aswell, and how close are the GPU's to eachother?
Just saw some report on TV about "male gamers who find females in games and abuse them".

Sounds like your fans are good, my CPU fan has never hit 100 % in the last 3 years (granted, it didn't burn down either, but I still find that weird)
Speccy always shows the wrong temp, i used AI-suite and it showed the temps more correctly and i have tried other programs like CoreTemp too which dont show the correct temp, so now im only using the Ai-Suite from asus.

why did this trigger the "mentioned" thing in the ticker when there is a space between zero and twelve?
