I wish all bars just played cantina band when I walked in
Hey I have some laptop 500GB hard drive, and I'm not sure if using just the sata cable or would i need to add the power connector on?
You connect it just like any normal Sata harddrive. They use less power, hence 2.5" running off USB, but the SATA Data cable won't bring any power to the party.
I got my Crucial M4 today, it turns out I forgot to change the postal code on my newegg shipping info when I put in my dad's address... Oh well, my laptop boots in less than 30 seconds, so I'm happy!
Speccy always shows the wrong temp, i used AI-suite and it showed the temps more correctly and i have tried other programs like CoreTemp too which dont show the correct temp, so now im only using the Ai-Suite from asus.
I was just using speccy because speedfan wouldn't show up in the screenshot. Those are pretty close to what speedfan was showing, only off by a few degrees. I could get an SSD to replace my OS drive... but then 64gb would be pretty small for a game drive. I could stick with 64gb and go with a 256gb SSD for my games, which I might do.
10 hours of Cantina Band really lightens the mood.
fuck you, now I am listening to this. Also just freed like 20GB of space by deleting Red Orchestra (Why did I have it after the crappy free weekend?), old steam files and an extra copy of GTA: SA.
Good news: I finally got my laptop. Better news: It hasn't broken itself yet Bad news: Asus managed to fuck up AGAIN - they didn't return half the power cable (the cheap outlet-to-brick cable part, not the power brick part). And, even though I shipped it to them in the original packaging as they insisted, they shipped it back to me in a flimsy cardboard box and bubble wrap. Sigh. I am
NEVER
buying so much as a diode from them again. FUCK ASUS.

I'm using my laptop right now - I'm having it copy the recovery disks as ISOs, which I'll store on my desktop just in case something crazy happens and I need them. But yes, I will be contacting them, informing them that I am swearing an oath of eternal vengeance upon them before trailing off into a stream of profanities and curses.
So, are you still going to vaporize Taiwan?
Time to get another SSD for my 904HD. The hdd is dying slowly, hmm.
Pepper;36711359']So, are you still going to vaporize Taiwan?
Yes. My current plan involves calling Dmitri Medvedev at 3:14AM (his local time), pretending to be a heavily-intoxicated Ma Ying-jeou (President of the Republic of China). I will then drunkenly insult him, then his mother, then question his sexual orientation before finally declaring that he does not have the balls to do anything about it. I expect the island will be vaporized down to sea level within hours. [editline]10th July 2012[/editline] Heh, this is funny:
Brian worked for the American government. Specifically, he worked for a small branch on a very small project with a budget so small that it was governed by the laws of quantum mechanics. To cut costs, the pointy-haired, grey-suited bureaucrats that ran the office found all sorts of inventive ways to save money, most of which were just minor nuisances that could generally be ignored. One particularly annoying technique, however, was that they set the thermostats at 55ºF, then locked them in plastic cages so that those pesky and expensive developers wouldn't waste precious government funds on wasteful things like "heat", "comfort" and "having fingers that aren't blue at the tips". In a state like Hawaii, that might not have been a problem, but these poor developers lived in the other non-contiguous state in the Union, in a place where the average summer temperature was a hair shy of 60ºF. One day, while shivering at his keyboard, Brian recognized this situation as a problem. Brian had two options: he could use his skills at office politics to raise a complaint and get the temperature issue addressed, or he could use his skills as a developer to come up with a different solution. Since he was a programmer, and hence terminally uninterested in office politics (sub-type: government office politics), he decided to try and program his way out of this situation.
static void Main(string[] args) { while (true ) { } }
Brian compiled that down into "heater.exe" and deployed it to every machine in the developers' team room, along with a short launcher script that would fire up the program at a very low priority. By hosting it on every machine, they had a crude way of managing temperature. During the summer, they'd usually run it on only one machine. During the coldest parts of winter, every computer would be running at 100% CPU utilization. If their keepers noticed that the electricity bill skyrocketed at around the same time the developers stopped complaining about being cold, they didn't say anything. Brain walked away from that job having learned a valuable lesson: if there's a problem that can't be solved with a clever program, is that problem really worth solving?
Not really a story of incompetence (the guy was really quick, knowledgeable, and professional) but the dude who I paid to help me get the computer I built operational was like 60 years old, really scrawny, had a pack of cigarettes in his shirt pocket, tattoos on his arm, and walked into my house with a Glock and a rather large folding knife at his hip. Apparently his business has its own office building and everything here in town, not really what you think of when you hear "IT guy".
basically imagine me but 60 and you've got that guy
Okay, this is fucking pissing me off and QQ isn't helping. My Windows install disk is 32-bit-only for some retarded reason. Since I want to actually have more than 2GB of RAM, I'm trying to download a 64-bit install disc. The "legal" source, digitalrivercontent.net, runs at a speed I would describe as "glacial". Seriously, it's doing about 30Kb/s right now, and I don't want to wait until Thursday to use my laptop. I can't seem to find any other download sources for Home Premium. If I were to download an Ultimate ISO, would that work with my Home Premium key?
Can't you get it from Pirate bay and use a legit key? That wouldn't even be illegal to my knowledge.
The only Win7 SP1 x64 home premium images I can find on TPB are in Russian. Everything's "Ultimate".

You need a X64 pro key? :v:
Nevermind, I apparently just suck at searching torrents. Found one. AND IF IT DOESN'T WORK, I ADD SWEDEN TO THE LIST OF COUNTRIES I SHALL DESTROY
http://www.reddit.com/r/Minecraft/comments/wcym5/an_indepth_overview_of_the_minema_mod_silky/ Fucking upvote this.
Whenever I see 'Minema', I feel like it's a play on enema instead of cinema.
I'm not getting any sleep tonight, am I? Finally got it downloaded. I figure I'll load it on a USB stick instead of using a DVD, in case it doesn't work for whatever reason. Takes far longer than it should, then fails at the very last step (making it bootable), because for some reason you can't make a bootable x64 USB while running an x86 OS. So now I'm burning a disk anyways, it's nearly 11pm, and I haven't even gotten Windows installed yet.
