Hey guys, awesome news.

I feel convinced, still don't know about the projector.

If the projector in question supports HDMI, an Android tablet will work just fine.

I've heard nothing but good things about the p400 and p410. Price is a bit high but you could still fit them in the budget.
Itanium's dead, calling it now. Intel doesn't want it, HP sorta wants it but in their current state would fuck it up even worse than Intel are. They're just killing it, make it KINDA better than the last generation, but only a tiny bit, fuck the rest up so customers will fuck off to other platforms so post-2020 they can shoot it and dump the body in a ravine.
They did the same with Tukwila but more internal news bullshit kinda showed otherwise. But, guess we were wrong. There was also the plan of HP moving HP-UX to x86. I guess we'll be seeing that in the coming few years.

Gah, I'm so pissed at Intel right now. Fuck them, fuck them to hell.

Can't find it anywhere in sweden.

Oh. Right. Forgot about that requirement.
I'll let one of your fellow Swedes help you with that.
Oh btw guys I wrecked my parents car today and almost got impaled with a pole.

Goddamn, getting this computer set up was harder than it needed to be.
I managed to bugger up my Windows install trying to move C:\Users over to D:\Users. This should have been a simple task, but noooooo.
Googling around reveals a couple different methods. There's moving just the Documents, Pictures, Music, and Video library locations, but many apps don't respect that. There's moving %USERS% (or whatever) by setting up a special unattended install disc, but fuck that. The way I settled on was using a symlink to make C:\Users redirect to D:\Users, transparently to programs.
After trying repeatedly to do so from the actual installation, I tried using the recovery console on the install disk. Unfortunately, it assigned my drives different letters (D: and E: instead of C: and D:), which ultimately led to not being able to log in to my computer, at all.
So, reinstalled Windows.
Now, the first time I reinstalled, there were no drivers for the Ethernet or Wifi controllers. Kind of a pain, but I just slapped the drivers on a USB drive. Worked fine.
Second time I reinstalled, though, the drivers for the USB host *also* were not installed. No idea why. So riddle me this: how do you get drivers onto a computer with no usable Internet, and no usable USB ports.
The answer, of course, is install Linux (what was the question, again?).
Seriously. I popped in the Arch disk, and copied the drivers onto the hard drive from there.
I could also have burned the drivers to a CD, as that bit of hardware obviously works fine, but LINUX!
So after that, things went pretty smoothly. Found an article recommending symlinking only individual folders, not the entire \Users directory. Which worked, once I figured out I needed to change the permissions on it to allow myself to write to it (I'd made another user account so I could copy NTUSER.DAT and such; I'm keeping that one on the SSD as a backup).
So now I've got most of my apps installed (even did some actual work on this already), I've got several games downloading on Steam, and everything seems to be working fine.
One question, though - PuTTY seems to have a lot of lag while typing. At work, I spend a ton of time SSH'd into a dev server, and ~500ms lag is intolerable. Is there some PuTTY setting I'm overlooking, is PuTTY just kind of crap, or what? Recommendations?

It was more so "GOD DAMNIT WHY WON'T HE SLOW DOWN!" as I tried to catch up to a friend of mine.

I hit a 4x4 wooden pole and it snapped clean at the base, impaled the windshield, came back out after hitting the steering wheel where my hand had been about 10 seconds before, and then flipped up over the vehicle.
If it hadn't been for the steering wheel I'd be dead, the van would be wrapped around a tree and my two passengers would be in the hospital I bet.

I wonder if they're going to beat the Pebble for the most funding.

I honestly believe that for what you're paying for you're better off getting the Nexus 7 for $100 extra. You're gonna get practically the same thing, it's gonna be open sourced so you can probably expect to see the games being ported over in some fashion, and you get it in a handy little tablet package.

Why exactly do you care about that useless CPU so much?
How would I get Windows installed to a separate SSD? It's for a new build that I ordered. It doesn't have an optical drive. I also don't have any flash drives available (not to mention MY build refuses to recognize any USB mass storage devices). What other ways could I get Windows 7 on another SSD (I have a computer that semi-works [mine])?
Why exactly do you care about that useless CPU so much?
HPC is useless now? Oh wait, with Poulson it is.
I wonder if they're going to beat the Pebble for the most funding.
I doubt it. They put an 80000 limit on the reasonably priced option, so it'll hit around 9 million before fizzling out. It'll definitely get close though.
HPC is useless now? Oh wait, with Poulson it is.
How does saying Itanium usless imply that HPC is useless? There are much better alternatives than Itanium, and nearly nothing supports it.
How does saying Itanium usless imply that HPC is useless? There are much better alternatives than Itanium, and nearly nothing supports it.
There werent many alternatives a while back, it has been the fastest processor in the world for most of it's life, the only time it fell was with Tuk, and there was a time where more things supported it than every competitor, combined. It's dead now, though. Intels fault, fucking cocksuckers.
[editline]12th July 2012[/editline]
Ok, not dead, but after 2020 it's gone.
Why get a U2711 or a U3011.
Inputs?
What you recommend BRT? The HP's? The reason dell is because our supplier does dell gear. If we buy in quantity it'll be cheaper, and overnight advance replacement.
But uh. This PC I'm building for my friend. I made up a lame excuse that i gota spend a day testing this system. In actuality im actually overclocking the living PISS out of this GTX560 TI 448 1280MB from MSI. I'm at 990 core so far.

See all that shit?
Yeah, there's no way to show only subscribed peoples uploads, remember that "Highlights" and "Everything" option before? That's gone, you're forced to check highlights.
Best part of all is they removed the recommended videos bar on the fucking side.
How the fuck do youtube keep ruining this shit?
Because adding features is too mainstream
