Frequency isn't really a good measure of processing power if you aren't comparing different models from the same microarchitecture.
If they use the naming system as they did back in Sandy then you really want the K, the K means it's unlocked and therefore can be overclocked which is usually pretty essential.
What's the best gpu one can get with $150 that won't be bottlenecked by a Q6600?
Hey chicos, if I switch over to Google's DNS, will my internet be fixed? May not be enough information, but my internet goes out for about a minute every few minutes to an hour, and it's really annoying. When I try and use Windows troubleshooting, it tells me that its a problem with the DNS. I'm on Comcast.
It's because it can't connect to a DNS server. Either the DNS server crashes every few minutes(which I highly doubt) or it's your Router/Modem losing connection.

The 6850 is a good card, and its in your price range. I can BF3 on medium on it.
but would it bottleneck
a 6870 is bottlednecked by a Q6600
It depends entirely on the game, for games like BF3, Metro 2033 then no, for Skyrim, GTA4 then yes.
Been deciding between a Crucial M4 128GB, which I can get for £90, or a Samsung 830 128GB for £103.
I'm swinging towards the Samsung. Does anyone suggest otherwise?

5:04 PM - Killowatt: I play BF3 more often than Skyrim

Shouldn't he just save his money for a new CPU?
It has options for USB modems. Pretty sure people use USB cellular modems on it.
I can't give you proof right now, but I'll atleast check the box and manual.
Cheers!
Pepper;35798406']their .se domain still works for me.
Probably because i use googles DNS
The SE domain works for me, I'm with BT. I don't use Google's DNS.
Jesus christ, my community college blocks everything.
Has the word gaming or game in the page? BLOCKED. Is an image hosting site? BLOCKED (imgur is an exception because i think some of the IT guys browse reddit). Download site? BLOCKED. It would make sense if they did this on their own computers, but not the WiFI. I needed office software, dammit.
The funny thing is, only the school's computers can view the 'this page has been blocked' page, so you wouldn't know if it was blocked or not because on any other computer it just comes up as a blank page.

Anyone know if this at the top is normal? Noticed it for the first time earlier at school, appears to be an Ethernet wall socket next to the ceiling with cables between it. Says CAT 5E on it, wasn't sure if they were using it by necessity to string multiple rooms together or what.
It's probably there for a WIFI point but they forgot to put one there.
If I saw an open ethernet socket in a public building just laying around, I'd plug in a wireless adapter. Woo free net and free access to the LAN.
wow I still have tehupload in my history
My school has tons of openly visible Ethernet cables, so my friend decides to cut one and it turns out it went to the teachers computer.
For the next 3 weeks we couldn't use that room due to a "virus".

Your friend is an asshole. I've dealt with "funny" shit heads like this, and it's no fun hearing a teacher complain and send you emails, telling you to fix the "virus."
Especially when your I.T. guy probably had to fix it, because odds are he had 50 other things on his plate, each one a hell of a lot more important than replacing a patch cable at a computer.
Not to mention the fact your teacher wouldn't use that lab for a while, meaning NONE of his classes could use the lab, thus depriving other students of learning opportunities.
Also, thread rules...

According to one of the IT guys at our school, our state capitol blocks Google for government offices. Apparently its on a "need to use" basis only.

I know older schools just have ethernet run along the edges of walls because its easier. Not sure why they would have an outlet there (my elementary school had that sometimes too), but maybe its for a wifi adapter. I dunno.

I don't think that rule truly applies to him since the he didn't do it personally or mislead his friend to do it.
My school is an old building so all the ethernet wiring is running outside the walls :v
My school is an old building so all the wiring is running outside the walls :v
Actually, its sort amusing that apparently inmates actually retrofitted ethernet into all the school buildings in my state. Even our private schools. So unless the building was built in the late 90's, pretty much every school has those. Even my college dorm does.
I need to invest in a proper fucking desk.
i didn't know they made desks for fucking
