Wait, you have to make a reservation just to see a tech support guy? What the hell?
Have you never been to an Apple store? Their support is one on one. Really cool, actually.
I've been banned from the local store even before I went to it. No idea why, but the security guy hushes me away every time I go even near it. Maybe I don't look like their target audience or something.

This is not a joke. It really pisses me off that I can't even try the latest OS X.
Apple stores don't have their own security.
Blame the mall, not the store.
Well, this Apple store does have it's own security. It's not in a mall either, it's on a very populated street in the capital.

Well, since my lock button broke and my camera is glazed over on my iPhone 4 32GB black model, I made a reservation for the Genius Bar tomorrow after school. We'll see how it goes. :v:
Time to unjailbreak and lose my ability to lock my phone. I've heard that if that button breaks they basically replace your phone instantly.
That ain't gonna happen to my Nexus, I have a modded kernel that lets me swipe across its capacitive buttons (like an unlock bar) to wake the phone up.
OOoooooh, please link me to that.
Give me a minute, it was originally on the HTC Evo, it was ported over.
For some reason my local apple store loves me. Even though I only go there to see my buddy and dick around with the macs.
oh great
my graphics drivers crashed and now its not posting. no missing gpu beep, no proper boot beep
what do

There is a demo of it, I can't seem to find the thread I got it from.

Employees never leave me alone in the apple stores I go to, I've been to 4, New York, London, Milton Keynes and Exeter or something. They shadow me around the entire shop as I walk around, not sure if they think I'm going to steal something or what but it creeps me out. Except Exeter, nobody gives a damn what you do in that branch, or at least the day I went, children younger than me were running around pushing eachother around, crawling around under the tables and punching the iPad screens like some severe durability test.
On the topic of phones, my Atrix is annoying, no custom ROMs for it, luckily the GO addons take care of most of my needs.
phew
tried again and it posted.
i'm guessing it not posting isn't a good thing though
Wait, you have to make a reservation just to see a tech support guy? What the hell?
I don't think you technically have to, but it's definitely easier to walk in, press a button on my phone/a tablet in the store and have a message pop up when the guy is ready for me. It's one-on-one and really helpful.
Now to add to the experience. I was in the interview process for Apple. They say that the Geniuses aren't there only to help fix your computers - they're there to help repair your relationship with the company as well. So when you get people like me that will straight up say "If you don't fix this I'll just switch to Android, it's no big deal." they will do their best to make sure the customer walks away 100% satisfied. They take each issue you have personally and work with you for however long you need to get the issue resolved.
This is their words, not mine. :v:

Apple is like the only company that doesn't just push your tech support thing to Cleveland or Bangkok. which is kind of funny when you think about it, but if you buy an Apple thing and it fucks up you're gonna get that shit covered.

I thought about going "yeah i'm not happy with the way this broke so easily i better get some serious compensation for this" when I went in for my iPod Touch, just to see if I could get an iMac out of the guy, but I went in because of a broken headphone jack, and this guy didn't look like he was going to buy it.

This. A lot of the repairs are definitely costly if it's things that don't impact the usage of the device. But in my case my phone will die within 4 hours and the camera just out-right is shit. So thankfully I'll be able to take photos now at concerts/at anytime I want...
The one port on my pc marked "USB 2.0" is USB 1.0
:v:
I have 12 2.0 and 2 3.0 go figure
I think all of mine are 2.0.
I mean I could plug a device I KNOW is USB 2.0 into one port and be fine, and then plug a different device in that same port and Windows will bitch that I should plug it into a USB 2.0 port.
The repair process for Apple is one major reason why I recommend people get an iPhone over Android. My brother's Acer Liquid E needed to go in for repairs twice so far, each time it took a month for him to get his phone back. If it was an iPhone, he'd have it back in a few days.
It's 3am, I have Photoshop open, and I've forgotten everything I have ever learned about using it.

Yeah, I have no idea.

It really only depends on the manufacturer though

Does google hangouts screensharing work with fullscreen applications?
Holy shit, if you have a nexus S, flash matr1x kernel onto it, the speed boost is ridiculous! I can play GTA without stuttering now!

Last month (ish) I had a brilliant idea for a Facebook picture.
One shot with a phone camera and about ten or fifteen minutes in PS later

really is a powerful tool when you know how to use it
It's just so much easier to take a shitty hipster screenshot of a game and apply some Fractalius all over that shit.
what kind of leeway do I get with applying dumb and useless filters to video game screenshots? I ended up with this and I don't think it worked so well

DAMN YOU, FINE PRINT!
I, having still received no word of my laptop (which I did order the morn of the preceding Tuesday), decided to poke around the FAQ and Abouts of the site.
Lo, behold what I found:
"Custom built to order products are usually shipped within 2-4 weeks from the manufacturer."
Now, I don't know if mine counts as "built-to-order", as all I customized was slapping in an SSD in the second hard drive bay. But if so, WHAT THE FUCK? I only ordered the SSD from their site because I wanted it quickly - I could have ordered the same SSD off Newegg and saved $50 by installing it myself!
Hopefully, it's just a "twenty bajillion people ordered that exact laptop, it'll take a bit of time to ship them all out, sorry for the delay", not "I have to wait up to another week just for it to ship".
PS2 memory cards don't work for PS1 games.
I don't know who the fuck at Sony decided that was a good idea, but I'm going to strangle them.
PS2 was amazing because 8mb felt like a ton of data.
There was always a feeling of dread when you had to delete save data to make space another game.

The things modders think of. I don't know why Apple go all out to goddamn sue them and get them to stop, fucking hire them.

On my PS2 memory card, my "Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Arsenal" save got corrupted and I couldn't save the game nor delete the data so I could never play the game again.
It's a shame because RAC3 is probably my favorite ps2 game of all time.
[editline]7th May 2012[/editline]
They're going to re-release the Ratchet and Clank trilogy for the PS3 this year though, so I'm definitely going to buy that.
