that reminds me
I'm impressed with how well google's voice recognition is for the most part.
Though neither Siri nor Google's voice recognition will recognize it when I say "play porcupine tree" for some silly reason :v:
voice recognition software is cool as shit
when I can fart onto my phone and it googles "Dom" you know you've got a good product
So not worth getting?
If it's free, why not.
I think I'm gonna go and ask nicely around computer repair shops for old/broken stuff again
I've gotten a ton of decent stuff from that (one of my current hard drives is from a machine the guy said was useless and gave to me for free, and I have this neat under-desk keyboard light from a scanner's cold cathode, runs off 5v, plus a ton of spare jumpers and cables.)
Might even gather enough parts for a small near-useless PC! (probably not)
What do you guys think of an Intel i7-3770 3.4GHz with an Asus Z77 mobo, and G.SKILL ripjaw 2x8GB RAM. I'm not too sure of the ram, but I just need to upgrade my far outdated CPU and mobo, which takes DDR3, I have DDR2. Also, do you think that this will last more than 5 years? (Excluding PSU, HDD, GPU, etc I have that figured out already)

So, does WP7 actually have any chance of being taken seriously?
I mean I couldn't use the thing, I'm constantly fiddling with Android, new wallpaper, launcher, kernel and ROM whenever I feel like farting around.

Maybe its just because I've had very little experience with it but I can kinda foresee it taking over the niche where blackberry was, what with all the native integration into various Microsoft shit

I like WP7 honestly, design wise it's great. But Microsoft just fucked it up big time. They're so bad to devs, which is why no one develops for it.

I have no problems with my Lumia 800 whatsoever.
Granted, there's only like two apps I use (weather and public transport thingy) because it's a fucking phone. Why would I want to play games on my phone? Why would I want to fiddle around with the OS? And customization I can understand, but I like Metro as it is.
It does what I want it to do, and good.

I don't get why integration with ms services is a bad thing, if you don't like them, you don't need to use them. Personally I'm still wowed by Metro, and the UI overall is fast, fluid and new. To me it seems that you're still a bit mad about the phone being shit and Verizon not helping. Just saying that it seems like you're more annoyed by its existence than what's reasonable.

Honestly, with such a complete lack of customization and leeway to get it to work how you want it to, I'd just grab a feature phone.
I'm not liking the sound of the rumoured WP8 update fiasco that is ~supposed~ to take place either.

I'm not saying metro is bad either, it looks great, I'd just probably tire of it really quickly.

Posted this over in PC Building but that subforum seems to be nearly dead, what do you guys think of this planned build? It comes to $1464 AUD.
I've been told it's not really good enough for the money I'm paying, sure, I have to pay a little extra for some things due to being in Australia, but is it ridiculous? What do you guys think?

Saying that the lack of optimization makes it equal to a feature phone is a bit dumb. And what have you heard about WP8 and a supposed fiasco? It's just a major update. Are you talking about the rumour that all phones will get the update or-? I'd hugely prefer of MS kept the updates the way they are right now - for everyone - and I won't be saying "hurr durr fragmentation", but for general consumers - that don't have the option of flashing a ROM - it would be precisely the same as with android. I'd argue that MS still has done a better job than many other companies, first generation phones are still getting updated.
Either way it's a rumor, I'll wait for the release before judging anything.

Seems nice, except my Agility3 (60gb) died after 3 months. Got it returned under warranty and swapped for a 128gb Crucial M4. You should probably do the same if the price difference isn't too big.
lol no I'm replacing a 4G iPod touch and my Windows Phone (windows phone is boring and not that great stay away from it)
It was $375 total
$280 for an iPhone with a cracked screen, $60 for this REALLY fucking cool screen replacement and the rest is shipping (like $30 ouch)
How do you replace the screen?

I own an Agility 3, and while it's a nice SSD, I agree completely.
I fucking hate being on a single monitor again. Even though I have been like this for almost 2 months. I feel like I am out of space.
Sadly I only have a 17" monitor in my basement. My main one is a 19" one, it is weird like that probably then.
Should i buy the Lumia 800 or wait until windows phone 8 comes out. Will the Lumia 800 get updates to windows phone 8?

Yeah, I was referring to the rumor that most if not all WP7 phones will not be getting the update.
And most old Sony Ericsson phones had more theming options and flexibility.
I hate to say it, but you can coerce more flexibility out of an iPhone easier than WP7, and that really is saying something.

Hmm, the selection I have is here.
http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=210_902_909
Seeing as the price difference for the Crucial M4 is quite harsh and I'm just at the edge of my budget, what other brands here are there that are reliable but around the price of the Agility?
And you're sure it's decent value? I'm worried I'm gonna make stupid choices like I have with all my previous computers.
