What the hell is the point of covering the whole device in glass? I mean, that's like the complete opposite what the casing should be, it's for protection.
Well it's alright for people like me who don't drop their phones
But the amount of spoiled kiddos I see on campus with broken iPhones is staggering
I've gone through 3 cases on my iPod
they all either haven't fit right or broke
I don't know what I'm gonna do with my iPhone for protection but cases for iDevices seem to be getting worse
i dunno for $25 I expect something to not break in a week
I'm really liking what Otterbox make. I've got one covering my HTC Desire HD.
Bulky, but almost indestructible and they fit PERFECT.
They also have a built in screen protector, I have never managed to apply one of those self-adhesive ones without bubbles, ever :( - These ones have no adhesive and just sit on top. No bubbles!
Otterboxes do work but for a device like the iPhone, I'd rather leave it naked
Ain't like I'm about to replace the screen on mine and parts aren't too expensive
Well, Just reinstalled my PC. I forgot how ugly 800x600 looks on a 1080 screen
And how bad it is to browse around for drivers without the GPU driver installed
This person in my "Game Design" class thinks that Alienware is amazing.

Some dude in my 1000 level programming class had one
It was butt ugly, thicker than a textbook and the bezel of the screen was at least 20% of that entire panel
Whereas my Asus has a nice businesslike appearance, a bezel that isn't obnoxiously huge and is actually thin and light and somehow runs games at the same framerate Alienwares do

I'm quite happy with my laptop actually, plays any game you throw at it, battery life is amazing (I keep getting 6 to 9 fucking hours on one charge), It's thinner than the average 15" laptop (not by much) and SOMEHOW lighter than my fucking netbook.
Do you have an alienware?
Do you have an alienware?
Fuck no.
Dell Vostro 3550.
Fuck no.

Oh, well it's not an Alienware or a HP so you have no reason to be unhappy
I'm quite happy with my ThinkPad T61. I wish it had better battery life, though.

I have one in my game dev class who is the same.
His mother took a hammer to his alienware tower :v:

It's a Thinkpad. You are trading battery life for the option to demolish buildings with it.
I'm extremely happy with my HP 6730s, the 2 hour battery is a bit meh though, probably because of the ebay battery.

good, his mum has the right idea.
I liked my dell, Geforce 8600m
[editline]11th May 2012[/editline]
Now my grandma has it again.
I'm considering installing elementary OS for her if she can't work out windows 7.

My mom hated windows 7
when we first loaded it on her machine, she freaked out because of the transparency
so she just made the color a really vibrant pink and called it good
(it's still transparent)
This would be my grandmas first time using a computer, ever.
I've made her a Gmail and Skype account, she refuses to just play with the thing and get the hang of it.
She wants to use it for dating sites and not one thing else.
So after a month or so of having a government-issue student netbook I've realized how lucky I am to have a computer that's constantly plugged into the wall so I don't need to juggle apps and processes to get to the end of the day. Can't complain, though. I get to type instead of write shit down which is a blessing because my handwriting is shit, and I can play Dungeons of Dredmor between classes/during boring classes.
Also the WiFi adapter eats the battery like twice as fast, fuck
Hey guys....Bad news. Today I tried to play Portal 2 and as soon as I launched the game I got a BSOD (Screen said something about stdriver64.sys or something like that and I know that's GPU related). My computer has been doing this for the past few months, ever since I updated the driver.
Now, after I rebooted, I did a driver rollback and played again. After like 10 minutes, it started freezing and making buzzing sounds that changed pitch and shit every 10 seconds. This is where I REALLY wanted to get this shit fixed.
So I thought I'd reseat the card, just to see if that's fix anything. I notice the card is kinda hot, but I usually leave the temps on my second monitor when I came and it never goes over 70c, so it's nothing to worry about. I looked around at the card and noticed that the heatsink under fan two was much more dusty than fan one. I think that's just due to the way it's designed or whatever.
But then I look at the fan connector, and see this:

What the fuck? This can't be good...
And, wait a minute.....I've never looked at this connector before, so that means it might always have been like this? Do the yellow wires even mean anything? I'm pretty sure both fans are running though, and I've never had overheating issues....What do, FP? I haven't put the card back in.
Should I attempt to "fix" the connector and putting it back in? Or should I just put it back in and see if it works/both fans are running?

red = positive
black = negative
and the yellows are speed control as far as I know, just try and get it back in for now.
EDIT:
I'm wrong, the yellow are tachometers, RPM.

I thought that one yellow was 12v power or am I thinking of something else?
But would it really need tachometers for both fans?
[editline]11th May 2012[/editline]
I'm on it now, gonna play some Portal 2 now as that seems to trigger it the fastest for some reason.

Perhaps the drivers are shitting themselves because they can't know how to deal with a fully powered fan running at 0 RPM?
Surely you can just slide the cable back in and forget about it, it isn't under any kind of strain.
(I actually have no idea how its been ripped out like that)
Hmm, just noticed OC profile was set to 40% fan speed at all times, and it hit 81c :s
Nothing happened though, and I've set it back to auto, I have no idea why it was set to manual or for how long it has been like that. I'll put the cable in if it fucks up again. But even if everything's fine now, I still wonder why it interfered with the audio and made buzzing noises?

Wierd, might have just been Source having a seizure then.
I am a colossal fucking idiot. I notice a crack on the lid of my laptop.
"OH NO PROBLEM" breaks out the heatgun "HAUHAUHAUAHEUAHEAUH"
A minute of 400 degrees C later:

So now i have a gaping hole in the lid of my laptop.
:suicide:
Time to get the duct tape.
Why didn't you just epoxy the plastic fragment back in?
