I lopped off the fans thermal resistor and soldered a wire there, then nicked a new resistor from a PSU and i'm gonna attach it to the CPU heatsink.
I'm going to wrap the solder joints in electrical tape.
Has anyone with a Z77 motherboard tried getting this stupid VirtuMVP thing working properly (if you have it)? I've turned mine off with my 570 because all it seems to do is drop game framerates by 20-30fps
oh god oh fuck, I really hope it doesent get here with like the PCB cracked in half.
I don't know why you went with usps in the first place, it's usually cheaper to ship packages that size by ups
I've finally ordered my tablets new digitiser, I wonder if it will make it to the UK in one piece via airmail.

It'll be fairly light so as long as it has some bubble wrap it should be fine if it's dropped.
amazing
So I also only just found out the newer motherboards have graphical BIOS' with mouse input.

Them kids always get it easy nowadays.
Fresh from the Firefall Beta forums. To put this in context, the latest patch changed the font used in several UI elements, including the chat.
To put it simply, I don't like it. I find that I am spending more time trying to read what people are saying since the font is just off since it is not one common seen on most (non-linux) systems as the primary font.
The lack of hard edges on the font seem to be the main issue from what I can see. I feel the whole curved look blends so nicely with the organic world that has been created and see no reason why the change in font could be an improvement.
If I am right about it being the Ubnuntu font, I can only see the change as a potential cause of slowing down the game ever so slightly for people since the font is not native to Windows systems (to the best of my knowledge) and the chat seems to be based off of internet browser technology so the font is being rendered from a file instead of read natively off of a machine which kills performance.
This may just be mostly me, but I have seen a few others complaining about the font as well and with no practical benefits other than it 'looking cool' and not like some font already on most people's systems, I don't get why it is even there.
That made no sense in any way whatsoever.
You don't read fonts "natively off of a machine". And while the Ubuntu font might not be "native" to Windows, neither was the font they used before the change. And even then, it doesn't "kill performance".
And the chat being based on internet browser technology? Haha oh wow.
If the way a chat renders is decisive performance-wise he must have a very crappy computer

SO CLOSE, I'm at the last chapter...
I have half an operating system on my netbook :v: forgot to plug in the charger and the battery crapped out during an Ubuntu update. I have no icons, no wallpaper, most of the software doesn't boot. I just hope I haven't wasted two hours and have to do the whole thing again....
Well, I just beat Tekken 3 arcade mode.
I didn't believe a game could make me sweat, let alone this much.
That fucking dragon whatever thing at the final round, fuck that.

I have it with my z68 / 2500k and it hasn't even done anything at all so far. The vsync isn't working, and AFAIK it's only lost me 10FPS since I did a benchmark before and after.

how can it take two hours to install ubuntu?
how can it take two hours to install ubuntu?
Installing from floppy, maybe?
Please insert disk 2 of 638 and press enter to continue
It took me a day to install WoW for the first time when I started playing it.
I bought a retail copy, and it came as 5 CD's.
I installed the first 2, went on a sofa while I waited for the third and fell asleep.
Pfft. Graphical BIOS's are not new.
My 1997 Thinkpad has one.

Wait 70 mins for that to upload and process and see.
(I'm off to bed now.)

You laugh, but I've actually done that.
Or rather, I used a "live install floppy" which had a special, stripped-down, ramdisk kernel and the install script, both tailor-made to fit in 1.44MB. Everything else was downloaded and installed, even the "real" kernel.

I have no idea why it took so long, I was updating to 12.04 LTS, the actual downloading didn't take too long, it was the unpacking and things that took a while. Nevermind, sorted now.
If you're upgrading it takes fucking forever. It's faster to just back-up and reinstall in 99% of the cases.
The last time I did an upgrade in Ubuntu it left me with an unusable desktop.
How often do you use the BIOS for it to bug that much?
Or are you just bitching to bitch.
I find using a keyboard only on the UEFI bios is slower then using it on the old bios. I use it alot because I have to swap components out all day in my test bench.

Ubuntu is to bloated for me, you guys should use Arch.
Ubuntu is to bloated for me, you guys should use Arch.
I really hope you're joking.
I really hope you're joking.
No? I have a couple machines running Arch.
arch is garbage
But why? Its simple once you install it.
arch is garbage
Never had many issues with Arch.
Well, Arch itself. AUR packages sometimes make me want to hurt things.
arch is garbage
Only distro that is outright impossible to install.
