Package managers the way I see them: Portage: God tier package manager, even if it's a bit complicated to learn at first. Yum: Quite a nice manager. People claim to have problems with it but I've never encountered anything. Apt: A bit lacking in my opinion, but still a nice package manager. Zypper (openSUSE): I didn't use this one much, but from what I did use it seemed alright. Pacman: Piece of shit. It's arguments are nonsense, it's packages don't fucking work, you have to rely ENTIRELY on user packages to get anything interesting installed, it's just garbage across the board. [editline]12th May 2012[/editline] also today I learned I can pause the PartedMagic bootup process by turning on scroll lock
The main issue with Pacman is having to upgrade to a new version because you need new dependencies. But oh wait, to install those dependencies you need the new version of pacman. Fucking brilliant. However I think they've fixed it more so in the newer versions. Gentoo is probably the best distro because it has what I like about arch (Barebones build it yourself, pretty much) without Pacman. Is a DVI to VGA adapter worth it or will I have problems or something Also how much will the load on my GPU increase
The website i ordered it from didn't tell me about the assassins creed games, so that was a nice surprise I guess :v:
All the reference Zotac 680s come with the AC games :v: It's their special promo for their "buy our cards" thing.
Can't wait until I upgrade from this piece of shit. 4 sticks/2GB RAM Has Serial Port My 6800 broke so back down to 6200 Pentium 4 Fucking tiny HD for internal (149 GB) Windows XP Professional 32-bit SP 2 Maybe when I get upgraded (my room also) I'll use this computer as backseat server hosting, and make a bunch of servers far various games. Like GMod 12/13(beta) Terraria TF2 (for friend purposes might make a public one) If not, then take apart shit and put my shit Pentium 4 encased in plastic and wear it as a necklace. Who knows.
arch is a pain i've always used debian i mean arch is nice when you like package management, but i prefer apt-get install x and apt-get update and such if there's a way to get pacman on debian i might try it out but i'd still probably end up using apt
Are you saying aptitude isn't a package manager? And I still don't get all the Arch hate. The only problem I have with Arch on my VPS is that a certain version of glibc specific for VPSes broke everything on my server. It took me a couple of reinstalls, but that was only because I'm often careless. I also used to have Arch running on my laptop, but I couldn't get awesome-wm to look nice and I didn't really use it anyway, so I removed it again. I prefer Arch over other distributions I've tried, honestly.
Nice keys on the picture.
can't make them out well enough
can't make them out well enough
Yes you can
can't make them out well enough
I probably could after some hit and miss but I am not a dick so I am not going to take them.

Just asking, I live in Malaysia so is there any good online websites where I can order PC components from that deliver to Malaysia?
Thinking of getting a GTX 670 for my build on Newegg, then using a package forwarding service to get it here. It'll still be less, because they're something like $500-$600 here at the moment. Can anyone suggest a good one? Also, if I have to return it for a warranty claim I'm fucked...
Shipping will cost around $80-$100. You sure?
Hmm... I know someone who has a very good deal on package forwarding so maybe I can get it cheaper...
Hmm... I know someone who has a very good deal on package forwarding so maybe I can get it cheaper...
How much do you think it would be?
I think I am not going to wait with my upgrade and go AM3 and 960T. Why? Because I don't have much money right now and would like an upgrade. I only have ~200€
How much do you think it would be?
Not too sure, gonna find out. I found it for $499 which is pretty steep but I'd prefer it because it makes warranty returns less painful. [editline]838pm[/editline actually fuck this i'm getting it within australia, potential warranty returns will be a pain otherwise
Asked an eBay seller about battery compatibility, if the battery fits my widescreen model. The guy replies to me recommending to buy a battery with "not for widescreen models!!" in the title. Now I remember why I don't like buying stuff from eBay.
Anybody had experience with the MSI Z77's (GD55 and 65 specifically). I've usually only used ASUS boards as the one time I bought an MSI (the 780i of all things) it crapped out a week out of warranty. [editline]13th May 2012[/editline] Well shit this isn't the quick questions thread.
Nice keys on the picture.
BRB activating. And the guy with the i3/AMD APU choice, I'd say get the i3. If you're not going to game, the APU (even how much I'd like it to) doesn't hold a candle to the i3's performance.
PC building subforum seems nearly dead, so can I (once again) have some opinions on this build? Will the motherboard and PSU be enough to add another GTX 670 in the future, and maybe an extra drive or so? Or should I go for the 850w? The GTX 670 will fit in dual SLI on this mobo, right? It's a smaller card from what I've heard. Anything else I should change?
