Spybot S&D AVG I think avast is fine but meh avg does the job
Spybot S&D AVG I think avast is fine but meh avg does the job
AVG never did the job on my laptop, which is why I had to reformat and install ubuntu.
Enough with the antivirus bullshit in this thread. No antivirus will reliably clean out a computer virus, no matter what the program is (even the esteemed Nod32 and Malwarebytes). Sounds like the damage is done despite the virus being "gone". Just reformat and reinstall. THEN come back to this thread and look at the antivirus posts, then make your opinion and buy or download it.

Great now we're arguing over which AV is best. Good job.
Norton 2009 and Malwarebytes' does the job for me.
I recently discovered I had a rootkit virus, or something similar on my PC that was blocking me from signing in to my computer (I made like 3 threads if anyone remembers) and I was about to re-install windows.. But today I turned on my PC and it signed in fine! When it signed in though I got like a million windows messages telling me that random applications I've never heard of stopped working. I managed to close them, but there's one that keeps coming back. Something called mobysync.exe keeps trying to open, but it fails so I keep getting messages 'mobysync.exe has stopped responding'. I searched my PC for a mobysync.exe and couldn't find one. That's not the only problem though. My audio does not work. Even though the audio sign on the toolbar says it's working, I checked all the settings and they're good, but I'm still getting no audio from any videos or music. Also windows explorer keeps crashing. I was trying to look at my pictures and documents but it keeps crashing. My PC is considerably fucked up, and I don't know how the virus magically went away, but I've clearly still got something rotten in my PC. I'm just making this thread so I can get advise on what to do because I'm not very good with comptuers. Thanks in advance.
Thats a MS program, but its a virus, cause the MS program is suposed to look like mobsync.exe [editline]03:59PM[/editline] norton sucks for gaming get avast
norton sucks
fixed
System Restore Disc is virus killer! System Restore Disc is credit to team! Also, SpyBot Search and Destroy works fine with me, Avast! is good but is over protective. "A Virus has been found! hl2.exe" "Warning! program: hl2.exe may cause harm to your computer!" Forgot the exact wording but yeah those two warning came up with Avast!
Ever thought your hl2.exe was infected?
Would have thought so if anything ever became of it. To be sure I uninstalled steam and deleted it then reinstalled and it said the same thing.
