It's great for overclocking.
Is there any other issues I should be worried about?
I have 2 low-speed 120 mm fans and that's pretty much all I have.
Also, 3.4 is easy to do on air, but I'm tempted to go for 3.8 if I can.

None that I can think of.
3.8 probably won't be too stable on air.

Actually with the 9550 he most likely could have stable 4ghz cause the 9550 is a best of an overclocker.
