Will it effect the quality that much?
You could go back to this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817171031
I'd go for i5 and 5850/5770, 4 GB ram is more than enough for games.
I'd personally go with the Intel build.Pretty solid.
I'd personally go with the Intel build.Pretty solid.
Same here, i'm thinking of building a gaming rig pretty soon, was gonna base it around intel core 2 Quad Q9550 but an i5 seems like a good choice.
Alright, so the build I'm gonna go with is as follow: i5-750 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819115215 Antec 300 Illusion http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811129066 WD Caviar Green 1TB http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822136317 Samsung 22x DVD-RW http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16827151175 Patriot Viper II 4GB DDR3 RAM http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820220431 COOLER MASTER 500W PSU http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817301004 ASUS P7P55D Mobo http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131410 Radeon HD 5770 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814102858 With shipping: $802.87 Awesome, right on the money. Thanks for all the help guys.

[editline]10:22PM[/editline] Damn, ninja'd :ninja:
i assume 8bit's price includes P&P, because you have different prices but same components.
i assume 8bit's price includes P&P, because you have different prices but same components.
I didn't exactly use the calculator, I just roughly rounded and added. :clint:
I didn't exactly use the calculator, I just roughly rounded and added. :clint:
Oh, that makes sense then, also Op, i want updates on how your build goes :O!

I'm wondering why it's so low, unless almost everything is free shipping. [editline]05:32PM[/editline] Yeah it is. Only shipping rate is for the ram. :buddy:
Maybe they do the same thing as scan.co.uk do, it's one shipping charge per order, not per item.
Well, it was fun helping you. I get so bored :comeback: [editline]10:35PM[/editline] Also I wasn't quite right with the price because I use GBP - not USD :c00l:
Thanks so much CombineGuru, got a better build for the price. :) And pl0xinat0r, I'll post in the Post your computer thread when I get all the stuff. :)

Thanks for the build John, but CombineGuru already built me a solid rig. :)
Thanks for the build John, but CombineGuru already built me a solid rig. :)
Are you going to be gaming cause if you are johns build is much better but I still don't get the reason why you made this thread if you are going to buy this at christmas. Cause prices will be considerably lower and new parts will be out.
I already have a similar build to John's somewhere on the first page - I think Eight Bit decided to go with the i5 though.
I already have a similar build to John's somewhere on the first page - I think Eight Bit decided to go with the i5 though.
It really doesn't matter he is supposedly buying it at christmas, and I hope he doesn't get that build then.
Is an i5 build really worth it though, i mean, for a bit (i suppose that depends on where you buy from too) more you can get an i7 build which'll run much, much better. but then again, that's pretty far out of OP's price range.
All your posts in this thread are "Hey, you're getting X, but for only a little more, you can get Y!". D:
Be sure to check on Amazon, they usually have a price close to Newegg and you can get free shipping on almost anything, they just seem to take a little longer to actually ship it. I just ordered a case that Newegg was going to charge $30 to ship out to me, and it was $10 more on Amazon with free shipping.
this makes me wish i wait 3 months to build my computer
Everything I typed out got erased, so here's a screenshot of the final build. Everything comes out to $1,161.40, including shipping, as of 11/15/09. I have a monitor, keyboard, mouse, etc in there because I can not reuse anything from this current computer, besides the extra DVD drive. The monitor is the only one that I found to be 1920 x 1080, 24.6". and $200. A damn good deal if you ask me. I changed the 5770 to a 4770 because I don't really need all that power. (Plus, I can put the $50 difference into somewhere else.) I changed the PSU because I didn't want to go cheap and have my computer die in 6 months. The speak system is a good set for $~80, although, they used to be $70.. I threw in a generic and good rated keyboard and mouse combo. I'm also buying an anti-static wrist strap, just because this is my first build and I want to be extra safe. It's not a necessity, but I'd rather spend that extra $4, then have my whole build destroyed. And finally, I threw in that cooler because it's well reviewed cooler, and I want to overclock the cpu. I've seen pictures of the stock i5 cooler, and it looks a tad bit on the small side. If you guys really think it's not necessary or worth the extra $30, then I'll take it off; I don't have much experience with temps and such. And finally, a quick question: The PSU is a ATX12V, it will work with a regular ATX board right? That's about it, thanks for all the help. [editline]12:57AM[/editline] Oh and, I already have a Win7 Home Premium 64bit disc, so no need to add an OS. Edit: Fixed up the typos; I wrote this at 2 AM last night.

But all I really do is play Source games, and watch HD movies. Will the 4770 do that at the highest settings with at least 60 fps?As apposed to getting a 5770, which is $65 more. This is already a shitload of money, I don't really want to keep milking it. Plus, I can always upgrade in the future, right?
