As far as I recall, Intel are the only ones who don't suck balls at this game.
lolno
Because of the way the Sandforce controller compresses the data and actually writes less to the SSD they are more resilient than other SSDs, and if you have TRIM running then there's no need to worry.
So a TRIM enabled SSD + Windows 7 = TRIM support?
To all you people interested in buying, I'd probably sell them for around $130, keep in mind they are brand new.

yeah fuck that
I would wait on getting an SSD. As the technology improves they come down in price. The cheapest one's out there right now though are kingston SSD's.
90 dollars is pretty good for what is solely a boot drive, for sub five second start up times I think it is well worth it

The Kingston drives are pretty bad.

SSD buddies
So I just reformatted on the SSD. Now I'm getting this message that says "Reboot and select proper boot device" after my BIOS posts.
My BIOS recognizes the SSD, but Windows recovery does not. I put my OS disk in and ran the recovery option, but there's no OS on the list.
I managed to get it up and running through Hiren's Boot CD. There's an option that says "Boot from Hard Disk (vista/windows 7)" that I chose.
What the hell's going on?
eh? If you formatted the SSD what are you trying to boot?
eh? If you formatted the SSD what are you trying to boot?
Windows. From my SSD.
System restore didn't help. Neither did flashing the BIOS.

But you said you formatted it
But you said you formatted it
Yeah I had to format it in order to install windows. It doesn't come formatted in the box. It was working fine for a while then it just stopped working fine for no apparent reason.
Fixed it. My bootmgr was missing.

I get that message when I put my spinpoint's sata cable into a AHCI enabled sata input.
I have the same SSD.
Okay, I'll sell them for $110. They cost $150 on Newegg so I don't know what you're all complaining about.
