If you're stuck on Verizon, the Droid X is better, and out in two weeks.
If you have to wait until next year, Gingerbread/3.0 phones will be out by then, with dual-core CPUs and ridiculous screens (up to 1280x800/800x1280 at just over 3.5"). also a very heavy chance of TEGRA thrown into the mix. so in a weird way, if you're capable of waiting 4-6 months, now is a terrible time to buy an android phone. best time for the market, as right now these phones are all great, and if you have to have something right now, there's plenty to be had. but if you can wait, do so.

Was it a bad choice that I got my evo now?
Was it a bad choice that I got my evo now?
yes, sort of, but mostly no as you didn't know this was going to happen. this was leaked info just after the Droid X launch event, couple days if i remember correctly.
Was it a bad choice that I got my evo now?
Not at all, Evo is a powerful device and will more than likely meet minimum requirements for 3.0, it would be a bad choice if you got a lower end Android phone as its less likely to get upgraded versions of the OS.

Do you know if Sprint allows me to trade in phones for credit and do you know if sprint's getting any more phones?
Wow. I wish this thing had a physical keyboard. Otherwise, dream phone.
The market for a hardware keyboard is slowly dwindling, a lot of phones coming out don't have them, and eventually I think they'll be reserved for BlackBerrys and such.

You can never beat a hardware keyboard, I would trade my HD2 for a Droid with keyboard or other high end android phone just because of that.
Is the HTC incredible good? It's the one I'm leaning towards. However, I probably won't be able to get it until sometime next year. Is there anything better coming out?
Droid X looks promising, a little big though

If you get used to a soft keyboard, most people find that they prefer it over a hard one.

depends on how far you are into your contract, how long you've been a customer, and your credit history. if it's your first line with them and you have no credit history (or really bad credit history), then they won't let you upgrade.
of course you can always just buy it from them but expect to pay the full price, which these days is anywhere from $400 to $600.

it does meet the minimum requirements for 3.0, but bare in mind that, like with computers and software, minimum isn't really good, just because you can run something doesn't mean it will run good.

the Droid's keyboard isn't that great though. the Samsung Epic looks to have a great keyboard with actual physical keys as opposed to one piece of rubber.
[editline]09:48PM[/editline]
also i can deal without a full on touch screen keyboard just fine, you get used to it. just so long as it's multi-touch like the Droid X or the iPhone. also, Swype is an added bonus for when i'm one handed because my other hand is on my dick or something

My parents who are entitled to the phone have a great credit history, so I'm good?
yep
misconception with phones is that, within the same plan, you are tied to that phone. well, you're not. the 2 year plan is specifically for the service and SIM card, you can always buy a newer phone either unlocked or through that carrier. the problem is, though, that you won't get the special 2-year contract price, so you'll most likely pay full price for that phone until after your 2-years.

Rooted droid. Themed 2.2 running at 1.1GHz.
Waiting for CM 6.0 to come out then I'll get customising properly. Just taking ideas from this thread :D

What theme is that?
I just rooted my Droid. I should have done it sooner. I want to overclock it to 800Max and 300 Min but I don't know if I want to pay money for SetCPU. Is there another way? Also what's a good temperature monitor that shows on the status bar.

The developer of it had posted an apk for 1.54 on xda-developers. Not sure if he did the same for that last update. I put up the 1.54 apk on my site for use. You want a link? Though, I think I linked it a few pages back. Might've been on a different thread.
Whats a good site for background?
I have a desire.

Froyo Kangerade Nexus One theme.
Eh, hopefully when the next generation of the Motorola Droid phones come out, Verizon will put out an early upgrade deal.
I had the motorola backflip and it was a pretty good, but some of the animations weren't that good and the keyboard was made weird where the buttons would hardly work.

-snip-, found what you meant. I'll try this ROM out.

T-mobile pulse running 1.5 with Zeam launcher. Feels bad man, but I'm making the best of it.

Ironically, that's one of the best shots I've seen in this thread.
Hey guys I finished downloading Smoked Glass but for some reason when it finished my screen went black.
Any idea what I should do?
I took out the battery and put it back in, it booted up to the same thing: a black screen

You can get 2.1 at least on there - I've got a friend with this.

I know all about 2.1.
It's tempting, but shit like:
3G not working properly
Vibrate not working properly
Call delays
SMS not working properly
The phone freezing every few days
Onboard memory for apps being dropped to almost nothing
Having to repair the Dalvik cache every time the phone reboots if I try to use A2SD to mitigate the previous problem
Kinda puts me off.

Oh lawd, dropped in to the 'Post your springboard' thread in the apple section just out of curiosity and half of them are completely butchering their interfaces. Also loads of them have models and semi-naked women as their background image. I lol'd.
Dude, for sure. Host the latest apk if you can and ill just download it or you can just send it to my email: email.
He put up the latest version, I'll pm you a download link since I just read the readme and he apparently doesn't want people rehosting it...
Oh and I'd snip that email; don't want the spam bots getting it.

Yeah, it's pathetic what they do to it. Almost all of them make it look like ass. I'm pretty proud of my iPod's springboard though. It's pretty nice looking.
not to set this off topic or anything but
can you have a live wallpaper equivalent under iOS4?
