Several times I've said that the equipment you want will be: 1. Expensive 2. Bulky 3. Illegal It's also EXTREMELY easy to circumvent your "prank", and even if your expensive, illegal FM equipment wouldn't get seized by customs, you would easily get in trouble with the police. I'm not trying to be an asshole. I'm trying to steer you away from a stupid idea so you don't have to learn the hard way. When the bus driver realizes the music playing isn't what he wants, he'll change the channel. And again. Until he turns it off or gets angry. It's not worth it.
i understand, but i still wanna do it, just something to think about....and she doesn't hear the music anyway cause its mostly played towards the middle/back of the bus so she can have her comm radio on. I've seen units that are the size of someones hand that are meant to broadcast throughout someones house, but i wasn't sure if that would be enough. But thanks for warning me.

Most of the devices that legally transmit require you to power them from the car's 12v anyway. There is no reasonable way to do this, as other posters have said.
I dunno how much you can push them but people have bought transmitters, opened them up, and wired larger antennas with some success.

Dont give a shit to LAWs, if i would follow laws, i couldn't make so much money from web, I found this article useful try that: http://www.engadget.com/2004/06/15/how-to-tuesday-make-your-own-pirate-radio-station-with-an-ipod/
I can call someone a government bitch when the majority of his posts are "OH NOES THATS ILLEGALZ"
This may come as a shock to you but laws aren't meant to be bad to people. OP want's to hijack a radio station he doesn't like. He doesn't realize that that will annoy other people in the bus, who may want to listen to the station being played, not to mention the people who happen to drive by when their radio station suddenly changes.
Frequencies are being bought/sold like hotbuns by lobbiest coorporations, it is the ultimate proof how corrupt the system is when it comes to personal liberties.
Seriously? That's your ultimate proof that the system is broken? Out of all the things wrong with it? Frequencies being sold is a good thing. If anyone could broadcast on any frequency whenever they please, radio signals would keep getting cut off randomly. There needs to be a system for controlling who broadcast what where and when. I'm sorry, but you just come off as an angsty teenager going "The government wants to scam you maannnnn!" You would need to have a antenna mounted outside because the shielding of the bus causes the energy to simply put "be blocked" it's due to metal shielding. You can take two wires and make a simple dipole antenna and point it to the buses' antenna with the buses' antenna in the middle of the two wires shaped in a V. This will have the transmission going directly to the buses' antenna. Simply wrap two copper wires around the FM transmitter or if you have electrical experience, remove the previous antenna and solder the copper wires on. WARNING: If the transmitter broadcasts over 100 feet it is illegal. It is NOT against the law to transmit as long as it's less than 100 feet, so yes, you can retransmit over the buses' radio it may be scratchy or staticy depending on the strength of the commercial radio.
