Same, and this is using Linux on a netbook. I don't even know why I have steam on Linux, because this integrated graphics doesn't have proper drivers on Linux, so any 3D games run like shit :v:

Well, a lot of the games on Steam (Linux) are 2d indie games anyway?

Not now.

There's a lot of them, but they are no longer a large majority.
I must say, games on Steam are ported to Linux quite slowly. Maybe when a bigger company jumps in, people will start porting more games to Linux. And then video cards companies are going to release better drivers and--
I should probably stop, I have this habit of dreaming of every good thing.

A good chunk of the Steam library is Linux native (especially the indies) but for some reason its taking forever to be uploaded and all..

There has been a lul recently but it has picked up again now, Oil Rush and Don't Starve were just added the other day, ETS2 is also in closed beta.
There are better drivers coming out every month, and they are increasing in better-ness every month.
I guess that answers my question. I looked through the Steam catalog of Linux games and they're all paid. I don't know about you guys, but I expected a few free Linux native games. Guess I'll have to wait.

Champions of Regnum is Free to Play, but I don't think Steam has really ever had a big collection of Free games anyhow (unless you did mean Free to Play).
Oh yes, apologies, I meant Free to Play. Sorry, I'm becoming more and more dull with games now.

Then yeah the pickings are bit slim in that category, though it seems there is more interest.
I just discovered the wonders of ubuntu minimal CD.

Jesus christ, why didn't I discover this sooner.

guys, how do you keep your archlinux intact?
each time i use it, after a few updates, it breaks down and then i need to figure out how to fix it.
so what's the trick?

I don't think there is any `trick` to it; I've managed to keep three Arch installations running with no problems. The ArchlinuxArm installation of my Raspberry PI has being running for over a year and the distro its self is badly maintained for the Raspberry PI.
Still cant figure out how people manage to break their Arch installations. Its a mystery.

How exactly do you break it?
Man, I really want a laptop to slap Arch on it and call it my home, but it's so annoying when I don't have money. I can't find anyone who'd give me their old laptops. There was this guy whom I asked if he had a laptop to give me for free, but he said he doesn't have any. It wasn't until later I saw him with some HTC phone and I asked him where he got the money from. He told me he sold 6 laptops. 6 laptops. And he didn't want to give me one for free.
I've searched through some IT shops and asked different people, but everybody refuses to give me a laptop. Ugh.

..Do you really expect people just to give you hardware for free?

Perhaps he might come across someone who is feeling generous.
Yes, I hope to come across someone generous. Though everybody seems quite greedy and keep their old laptops they have no more use for. You know the saying: one man's trash is another man's treasure.

Selling your own property to buy something else is hardly greedy.
so I'm trying to install Mint on my laptop, but for some reason the bootloader just won't boot even though I installed it to /dev/sda
it just goes straight from the Vaio (my laptop brand) splash screen to Windows
I'm installing it to a 150 GB simple volume partition of a 750 GB HDD
any ideas?
Make sure you're booting to the right drive in your BIOS. If you have an UEFI motherboard it may take a different install method.
I'm adding you on steam. I'll answer any questions you have.
[editline]asdf[/editline]
Oh nevermind your steam link is dead.
It looks like Vaio uses UEFI to boot, you need to make sure your bootloader supports that. Or go into your UEFI settings and turn on legacy boot.

shit thanks for the help, but I uh, got tired of Windows bullshit so I just formatted the entire drive and installed Mint over it

shit that first linux bootup is always scary
all that text flying across the screen that you can't read could be anything
it could be warning you of the impending fucking apocalypse or something

Well, I just mostly meant that giving away things that are worth a lot of money isn't the first thing that comes to mind for most. I wouldn't give away my property without a decent reason.
