What DE/WM do you use?. Do you mean resets on boot or?.
I use Cinnamon for the time being. it resets at random times. sometimes it takes a while, sometimes it's pretty fast
Cinnamon has been buggy most of the times i used it, but it could be you're setting something wrong. It uses the same control panel as gnome, there's an option for keyboard layout in there, remove the layout config from xorg and use the control panel one, if necessary remove english if it's there and leave only the layout you want.

How do I lock the KDE ui? My father keeps deleting the "start" button and claims linux IS a virus, it is driving me insane.
How do I lock the KDE ui? My father keeps deleting the "start" button and claims linux IS a virus, it is driving me insane.
Rightclick on something and press Lock Widgets (Under Panel Settings, if you rightclicked on an panel)
-snip-
Look for something called regional settings or something like that.
Linux falco-K53SV 3.13.0-031300-generic #201401192235 SMP Mon Jan 20 03:36:48 UTC 2014 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
Running the latest kernel on Ubuntu is apparently really fucking easy. Fine with me!
What DE/WM do you use?. Do you mean resets on boot or?.
i3 and I also use Crompton for compositing.
Just spent a bit over an hour just doing the base setup of Arch. Fucking everything goes just fine, reboot, Operating System not found. Ugh, I might actually try to debug it this time, instead of just saying fuck it. Edit: I got into my zen position, thought "What would MacGyver do?" and explored the universe, after which I remembered I didn't set my /boot partition as a bootable partition. It works now.
That's still not as bad as when I was installing Gentoo earlier this month - I installed everything to the drive in SATA-2, and the Live CD could see it fine, but because it was disabled in the BIOS, neither GRUB (which was installed on /dev/sda) nor Windows (after fixboot and friends) could tell that the drive even existed. Which makes me wonder how the liveCD saw it to begin with. It took me a few hours to figure out what the fuck was happening. At least yours was a simple problem.
What DE/WM do you use?. Do you mean resets on boot or?.
Personally I'm really big on KDE. I even liked the original 4.0 - then again, I was one of the few who got the memo that 4.0 was meant to be more of a "developer preview" than a full public release.
Usually people dislike gnome and unity, but for me, i like the least kde because it has too much bling imo and it seems cluttered, but i have a tiny 4:3 monitor so it could be that, i could give it a try again if i'd have a theme that removes some clutter and bling and a the blue/purples while at it, i'm used to the red-ish gray of gnome/xfce/windows classic.

[editline]23rd January 2014[/editline] Numix is here, there's also a similar theme based on Google+ if you're not a fan of orange.

Just found out that TF2 on Arch likes to use 3GB of RAM. What the actual fuck?
Text-mode Linux is pretty fun once you get used to it! DVTM and Lynx make things pretty easy for me. In fact, I'm using both of them to post right now! Also, I keep on seeing this link next to everyones posts that says "anti-furry flagger" and god knows that ain't on my side because I'm running from the Arch Linux installation disk right now.

Tried to install linux-mainline from AUR using packer, but it stores everything it needs to run in /tmp, which is a tmpfs, which means it doesn't actually have enough space, so it compiles the kernel for a good 90-120 minutes, and then the tmpfs runs out of space and kills the whole thing.
It's in the HTML of the post ratings, probably something leftover that wasn't finished.
I think it was to combat the Furry Flagger script a few years ago. If you were on the list of "furries", your posts would be automatically rated as dumb by whoever had the script installed. At least I THINK that's what it is. Its definitely related to that script though.
Always.
Hey, i have tried to get into linux many times but i never get everything as i want it. So now i have a question. Because i really like the way the crunchbang distro looks and works, but, i i am not really comfortable with the package installer thingy.. But in ubuntu/ mint, the package installers seems really easy to use for a newbie like me. Is it possible to get the appearance of crunchbang over to mint or ubuntu?
Crunchbang uses the same package manager as Ubuntu (Mint) and all other Debian-based distro's. You must be talking about a GUI front-end. You could just install that on Crunchbang.
imagine how sweet it would be have a "brain -S" command in real life
brain -S *
Drivers are also a big issue. Maybe not just from your few video card companies, but from integrated graphics as well. Intel's Sandy Bridge still freezes up at times though it's gotten better over the kernel releases.
AMD dropped linux driver support for my aging brute of a HD4870x2 right when they were finally about to get out of their Linux support denial. Motherfuckers
brain -S *
mister know it all
brain -S * would be a bad idea. That'd mean you'd have stuff like child porn, every horrible experience imaginable (burning, being blind, being deaf, various gory scenarios).. basically, you'd have every bit of good, but also every bit of bad in your brain.
brain -S goodstuff
brain -S goodstuff
group install "essentials" && group install "awesome"
