Is your dbus service running?
Sounds like you're a wizard casting a spell.
Or like you've never actually sat down and tried to use it. Installing a package, updating your packages, while admittedly slower than other distros because compiling, is literally the same process as any other distro (except maybe `emerge --sync` beforehand to get the latest Portage tree), except using the emerge command instead of apt-get or yum or whatever the fuck SUSE uses.

Does anyone know where i can get Gmod's exectuable?
Does anyone know where i can get Gmod's exectuable?
Steam complains about that too for me, but the executable still exists. Use the terminal to cd into GMod's directory and then run this:
./hl2.sh -game garrysmod -steam
Meanwhile, GMod Beta still doesn't launch for me.
Garry merged the beta into a development branch on the main GMod game, rather than the separate beta entry, so hopefully that'll make some progress on it working on Linux.
Fixed my sound, apparently there was something wrong in the mixer.

On my system, it just says "lol not gonna do jack shit" unless I use --force-depends (and even then it only installs the deb i'm intending to install)
how the fuck
It was half way through updating a few apparently major libraries and it just died. All of my terminals stopped accepting input afterward, I rebooted and got nothing.
amd catalyst 13.6 Is still a nightmare, slow Xrender, Input delay still occurring on Valve's Source games.
Is the Linux port of Hotline Miami unbearably slow for anyone else?
[del]Im running UbuntuGnome right now, my problem is. The keyboard layout is set to danish. But it just uses US anyways. Also, I set OS language to English btw. Also, looking at the layout button. Even what I press looks correct there. Use the same layout for all windows is also checked.[/del] Adding eliminate dead keys as second language fixed it. lol

You can still use all other keys normally, you'll just have to press compose before using what used to be dead keys. And the advantage is that you can now directly type things like tildes and backticks (Which are incredibly useful especially in bash)!
Shit. Almost had tomorrow ruined. Time zone on Windows is 2 hours back after I left Ubuntu. How do I work around this conflict.. also the OS's are on two different drives and installed with the opposite hdd unplugged to avoid conflicts.

The easy solution to this is switching Windows to use UTC too (which I do, by the way) though unfortunately this might cause Windows to crash. If you leave it running during one of the two moments per year that summer time changes.

[editline]29th May 2013[/editline] Who thought it was a good idea to save localtime in the BIOS? Has anyone ever heard of a laptop before?
First, the official lack of support is probably due to that crash case I mentioned. It works, but it might not work as expected. That's what the official lack of support really means. I've never had any issues. Also, I don't really understand what you mean. Power? The clock device uses the CMOS battery and spends less power than a wristwatch.
I didn't say anything about power, I just find it odd that Microsoft prefers to store localtime (as opposed to UTC) in the hardware clock, when computers can move between time-zones daily.
Because Windows is a pile of legacy mess, it makes the situation with X11 look like a rose garden.
My video card took 66 hours to travel from Idaho to Michigan. I'm starting to think they're using bike couriers rather than trucks. EDIT: Oops, wrong thread; To make this more linux related it is an Nvidia graphics card and I intend to try out nouveau with it.
How do you guys know what packages to install on a bare Arch install, like packages in relation to GUI, such as fonts and how do you stop GTK from looking like it's from 1995? Basically what packages do you need to make it as aesthetic as say Ubuntu
For the most part getting a Desktop Environment with pacman like Gnome, KDE, Xfce, MATE and so on covers the bases and makes it look decent.
What about a setup similar to Crunchbang, I know there's Archbang but I don't like not knowing what's automatically installed
Crunchbang is just Openbox with a Conky config slapped on it. pacman -S openbox conky Done.
Because Windows is a pile of legacy mess, it makes the situation with X11 look like a rose garden.
The teams at Microsoft were too scared to touch cmd.exe because of legacy shit etc., so they forked it and created PowerShell. Brilliant.

OpenBox -> Default window manager in Crunchbang tint2 -> panels for task bar nitrogen -> desktop background.
sudo gedit /etc/default/rcS and changing the line UTC=yes to UTC=no solved it that way
That's the stupid thing to do though because it can mess up your timestamps when you switch back to normal time from summer time.
