General Linux Chat and Small Questions v. I broke my Arch Install

Since I'm redoing my network solution at home soon, I'm considering using Squid for HTTP cache, content filtering and AD blocking.
Has anybody ever set up squid?
Huh, I wonder why the browser is pretending to be ios.

A android phone running ubuntu phone thinks it is an iOS.
Guess this is the phone for the people that say 'a bit of everything'.
Might set up an arch install with awesome.
Wish I could ditch windows, I'm going to try virtualbox see if that is reliable enough for me to ditch it.

What do you need to run on windows?
Work related, I'd rather not say.

Also the only video game that I really play is League of Legends because my mates play it. Doesn't like Wine very much.

League of Legends seems to play as "platinum" on Linux Mint. You might want to give it a go? http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=19141&iTestingId=75534

The issue I have is there are so many ways to attempt to install it, and every one takes a while to try.
[editline]16th March 2013[/editline]
Of course I'm not on Mint, so if Mint has one streamlined install package then more power to them.
I think I finally found a distro that works properly. Linux Mint 14 KDE. Didn't break when I installed Nvidia drivers. KDE works well with multiple monitors and has nice widgets and customization.

Seems that you just use PlayOnLinux and you're good to go

If you're up to shrinking Windows a bit, VirtualBox's disk format allows virtual disks to act as proxies for partitions. Try doing one of those setups so you can have the wiki alongside.
I keep a Windows VM around just so I can use foobar2000 to organize my music.
(If anyone knows of something similar to foobar let me know)

Audacious?
I've never used foobar, but mpd and its many clients (ncmpcpp is a popular one with a lot of features including a file-browser view, database view, tag editor, tag search, visualizer, etc.) are a worthy substitute for mediamonkey which is what I used on windows. Also, because mpd is a daemon you can control it from just about anywhere, and you can even keep listening if you kill your X-server or restart your computer.

Clementine is a nice player, I use MPD/NCMPCPP personally but both are good

Have you tried Noise?
^ I've looked at those, but they don't have as good of a tagging / renaming system as foobar2000.
I uses clementine or amarok to play my music, but still haven't found a good tag editor =(
[editline]16th March 2013[/editline]
Maybe I should just make my own; I've been meaning to for about a year.

What does the tag editor need to do, specifically? I don't have very particular needs, but I haven't found ncmpcpp's tag editor lacking yet.
This is what I like:

http://i.imgur.com/EJ9aTnj.png
Easy access to album and per-track tags, good file moving, replay gain scanning, and consistent tags(I can set foobar to only use id3v2.4 and delete others.)

Those do seem a bit out of the scope of ncmpcpp, I don't know enough about it to recommend anything else though.

You might try running foobar2000 in Wine then.
I did it once to get an M3U out of it without rebooting to Windows and it worked. Don't know how well it'd do using it to its full extent though.

Then keep the Windows VM and run foobar2000 using wine. Simple :v:

I'm also looking for a decent foobar replacement on linux (it works in Wine here, but tends to be glitchy sometimes). After trying out dozens of media players (DeadBeef, foobnix etc), I found Gmusicbrowser today that comes close: layouts are flexible and handles libraries well. I haven't tried tagging yet though.

Have you tried clementine and noise?
I've found this, but it's in Russian. There might be an English version for it though. Or you guys could translate it.
Edit: I'm dumb as fuck, there's a link on the left hand side of the page which makes everything in English
I need help with printing
I set up my printer with CUPS, and it shows up as being available, but any job sent to it stops instantly.
It's a HP3050a, and hplip is installed.

Panic, then enable it from the CUPS settings page. It's disabled anyway. That's what always happens. I don't know why. Something's always disabled when I try to print.
[editline]17th March 2013[/editline]
If it's not disabled, consider stopping and disabling it and then re-enabling it. And restarting it.

This is what hplip outputs when I plug it in

Pretty sure Clementine does all that in the most recent version unless I'm overlooking something (might want to check what version you're using if you can't find that, as I think the version in Ubuntu's repos is really old).
