1. New CPU of some sort (I currently have a Phenom 9600, it's alright, but I'd definitely like something better)
2. 4870 (5xxx series will surely push the price down)
3. Wacom Tablet (Preferably an Intuos, but whatever really)
4. A new monitor. (Currently kicking it with a HP Pavilion MX70 and it's dying on me)
I've been wanting to get a tablet for about two years now, but my computer really needs those two upgrades as well...
My 5870.
4. A tablet
1. A 5850.

Not at all, I've never been limited by it's size. I wouldn't want anything smaller, and in class on those small university desks it fits perfectly, and the MBP 17" is less intrusive in your space than your average 15" Windows based PC. The 6 1/2 hour battery life on OS X is amazing as well. I carry it along with all my other school stuff in a nice North Face backpack that was designed to carry the 17" MBP (fit's perfectly and has compartments designed to fit the macbook power adapter) Portability is no issue.
1. iPhone
2. Some social skills.

1) HD 5870
2) A new 24" monitor, possibly two?
3) Quad Core would be nice

In todays society, the first will result in the second.

Thanks for the reply. I've heard too many people complaining about how big it is over at another forum but I think it's just perfect.

I'd prefer USB.

The only people who every complain are the guys who have every size mbp or only could afford to get the 13" or 15" from my experience, I've read all that stuff too, before I bought mine.
You constantly see garbage posts like this fabricated example,
"I think the MBP 17" is so large it can only be used as a desktop replacement, I use my Macbook Air when I go to Starbucks, I use my Macbook Pro 13" in car during long trips and I use my 15" MBP at work since desk space is a premium"

ps/2 to usb dongle
ps/2 to usb dongle
I'd rather just buy a nice crispy new keyboard than a 12 year old IBM model M for $30 off ebay.

Exactly, mainly the starbucks line. I've heard guys over on other forums saying that the 13" is to heavy to carry? Wtf?
1) New mobo The P5Q3
2) New 9600
3) Then a set of 22" flatscreens to replace the 2 19" crts I have now.
You bought one?
No but I will be.
1. A bigger desk.
2. A monitor that does 1080p and has an hdmi input.
3. The x52 joystick (if it's good that is).
5850
Acer X223HQb
ZuneHD (if it ever comes out over here that is)
sadly while this is realistic I don't get enough a week for it to be likely
also move this PC into my room rather than in the middle of the godsdamn house, but this needs a ton of ethernet routing that no one can be arsed to do

in response to
Where do you live?
Something that isn't a single core 1ghz Toshiba laptop
Q9550
HD 5850 (hey, you did say realistic)
4 more gigs of 800 mhz DDR2 and a better case
1: overclocked core I7 AT 6 ghz
2: 12 gigs of ram
3: windows XP to be free
4: all the games in the world
5: massive bedroom
6: this sound system hooked to my PC
7: 5 1TB HDD's wired in RAID
8: 22" screen
that is all :downs:

Yeah, I want to move my PC into my room too but that would require a lot of rerouting and shit.
Why rack-mounted?
because big space-whoring systems are cool.
anyways,

(at this point I just basically re-built my system I already built once)
1. a second monitor
2. a g5 mouse
3. the coolermaster scout case
16GB of RAM and a mobo with a lot of RAM slots so I could make a RAM drive.
And maybe a 5870.
