UXStyle does it in memory instead of adding new files.
So will it switch back to the default theme on reboot then?
so... yeah. i cant patch the first one, which means no custom themes for MightyMax :c How would one go about fixing this?
Try UXStyle like Panda said, I'm trying it now and will report back.
I got it. I had to run it in x64 instead of x86, which is odd because its a 64 bit operating system

However, all my text appears bigger with this theme.
UXStyle works fine for me. Will that Clearscreen theme still work fine if I don't replace explorer? It looks okay but I just want to make sure I don't get any funny glitches in the future. And to remove UXStyle I assume I just switch to default Aero and then uninstall+reboot?
So will it switch back to the default theme on reboot then?
No. [editline]01:09PM[/editline]
UXStyle works fine for me. Extra DLLs are simply there to make it more consistent. Explorer: Start button ExplorerFrame: Navigation/Address Bar/Search Box images I could go on.
I've used ClearScreen Sharp on my Vista machine too, still using it on the Windows 7 machine and still loving it.

(Yes, I know 'it's explorer.exe, you could wreck your system!') The one K-Johnson uses in ClearScreen Sharp works perfectly. The only annoying part is granting yourself permission to overwrite the file. He suggested just renaming explorer.exe to explorer_original.exe or something similar, then copying in the other one.
I still don't like the idea of mucking with explorer.exe even though I know it's 99% safe to do so.
I was wondering, is it possible to get the start button from ClearScreen for Vista and use it as the startbutton for 7 in small icons mode?
I was wondering, is it possible to get the start button from ClearScreen for Vista and use it as the startbutton for 7 in small icons mode?
Yeah. You need to get a resource hacker (resource hacker will do) and browse through the image group of the msstyles for vista until you come upon it, extract it, name it 6801.bmp, and insert it in explorer.exe.
I have yet to come across a terrible theme for 7.
you must have low standards
you must have low standards
Not really, I pretty much agree with him: Because Microsoft haven't made it easy to mod the themes, only the few that are actually motivated will do so. [editline]03:43PM[/editline] Okay, found it, extracted it, it apparently didn't have the right size or something, moved some stuff around in Photoshop, now I've got this: What am I doing wrong? If you can't see it, it's that there's an arrow shaped "shadow" under the start button.
you must have low standards
No. I have high standards when it comes to theming. Sorry.
Theres an application for changing the start orb. Windows 7 Start Orb Changer Run it as administrator.
Can't get more lazy.
