Post your laptop! - Hardware & Software

Aw man, buying a laptop is a hard decision if you want to get something powerful but not a brick. I have some Novatech shit that does the job but that's it, all work and no damn play "less you count HL2 at 15fps all low lol integrated." Anyone recommend a 17" that is powerful, around £1000 yet slim for it's spec?

I'd get a netbook powered by a dual-core atom and an nvidia ION GPU for descent framerates and portability. Don't forget to spring for the extra-large capacity battery, it's worth the upgrade. :)

Or they do, but really stretch the definition of 'netbook'.

I've never known the sheer bowel-shifting terror of dropping my laptop, Partly because it uses an SSD, partly because I want a new one, and partly because I could replace it for the cost of a hooker.

I have the Lenovo G530 [img]http://laptopnext.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/lenovo-value-g530-laptop-review.jpg[/img] This thing is pretty tough for plastic, dropped it a couple times on hard tile and it still works fine. Plus it was only $500 when I got it, so that's nice. Also, the Function and Control keys have swapped places, but I actually like it better this way.
