Got mine today, dont dare turn it on yet. Came off the van dripping wet with condensation. Didnt get much better when I opened it up, the screen and stand had a nice covering of condensation aswell. Letting it dry out over night, and most likley wont get a chance to sit down with it until the weekend.
What the hell! Get that sucker replaced.
About a day or so, here's Ubuntu Netbook Remix: *Image*
How did you do it?
Oh god. You need to mount this shit on your wall and have it act as a control center for your apartment/house electronics, wiring, power, etc. Push a button and play music through the whole place, use it to turn on/off lights, mount cheap web cameras around and watch on the screen, etc. Would be so cash, could be the ultimate in geekery bad assery. And it needs to have large obvious "touch screen" buttons on them so if sam fisher ever breaks in your home he can press the obvious "lights off" and "music off" switch that will confuse you and make you say "Hmmm that's not right!"
31fps. Yeah, something not right there.
Software rendering should even be faster than that... Are you even getting hardware acceleration? Look at the output of glxinfo.
If I had the spare cash, I'd get one right away. Don't at the moment, so I'll just have to ignore it. v:v:v
FWIW, they're sold out on the o2 online store now apparently, site hasn't been updated yet. Getting around 175fps on glxgears now, btw.

Yeah, got this from HUKD, who else saw it there?

So I took mine apart (for those interested there is four screws underneath the black sticker on the back, which you can remove with a knife without damaging it if you're careful). http://faggottree.co.uk/joggler/ The mainboard is cooled by a plastic(!) heatsink, which has a large thermal pad, some of which goes through a gap in the plastic, and touches a strip on the metal stand. Thanks to Hexxeh we got temperature readings for with & without the stand. Removing the stand does not affect the idle temperature (61c), but even with the stand the Atom can get very hot at 100%. It's unlikely that the plastic heatsink was designed to cool the CPU on heavy load, simply because it's just not going to happen very often with the stock OS. Going to try to put a 4-port USB Hub inside the case
We tried a USB hub internally last night with cosmic duck and as we expected, there's not enough power on the bus to run the WiFi dongle and a memory stick or anything, so the next step is to wire in a powered hub.
hexxeh, you should register at joggler.info/forum
I would buy one of these if I hadn't bought a netbook and iPod touch recently :(
hexxeh, you should register at joggler.info/forum
There's quite a bit of terrible moderation going on there, I'll pass.
Pffft, who needs an iPad when you have this :P
Gonna give the local 02 shop a ring tomorrow.
I tried the instructions on the link in the post above, no dice. I got mine at a retail store too, btw. They're technically not supposed to be selling them at this price in retail apparently, it's an online/telesales exclusive I'm told.
Did you get that working then in the end? How did you get the sound and touch working? Easy for a linux virgin?
If only exchange rates didn't suck :(
Placed my order, should be a laugh to mod.
Really wish these things came with a battery, would it be possible to wire one in?
Really wish these things came with a battery, would it be possible to wire one in?
Theres people trying, it's just a case of getting the right one. It needs 5v 4amp http://www.joggler.info/forum/viewtopic.php?f=34&t=156 Would it be possible to get xp or 2000 on this?
Really wish these things came with a battery, would it be possible to wire one in?
Maybe one that powers it through the usb port? or through the DC pot with a modded power pack?
Hm, yeah I'll have to wait and see what people on the forums do, I just think it would be great to use this as a portable internet browser you could use in an airport or whatever with linux. Would be very handy indeed.

Dammit, My current account only has £42 left in it - Going to deposit some money. - They better still be £50 on monday, ARGH. I think it would look pretty darn cool between my two monitors. Assuming it can run linux: How does it fair for watching internet TV? Could I remote desktop into my PC using some free linux VNC client and use this to, theoreticly, control my Studio computer's transport control? Hmm, Reckon they are £50 in store? - My local O2 store is open tomorrow.
Just ordered a Joggler :D - At the very least it's a decent photo frame if all else fails :v: Local shop had sold out, sucks.
Picked up my joggler from the o2 store today, pretty happy with the touchscreen, just gonna get working on linux now.
Got mine running android, my video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z7kqMypFVlc
Thats great, not sure whether to run linux or android now, opinions?
Well, use linux for now. It 'just' runs well enough to be usable. Android barely works at all yet.
