download malwarebytes, run a scan with that - and for future protection i'd probably advise you to get Kaspersky. I know an internet cafe that runs it on all of its PC's - being an internet cafe its obvious all kinds of people go on them looking at all sorts. He hasnt had an infected PC since (which is like 7 months now)

My friend got a virus (He didn't have a a AV ), that prevented him from going on the internetz. I suggested him to install MSE on his external HDD, and just plug it into the computer, and run a virus scan. It worked, and his computer is fine now. I guess this is a easier way to get rid of virusses, when you don't got any AV, rather than reformatting. Then I suggested him to get a Mac, cuz they don't got any virusses 'n shit and it pwnz ze Windowzz.
[sp]You know what? I didn't.[/sp]
Same thing happened to me, I was just browsing usual pages, nothing new, I think an ad downloaded the virus, but it kept saying all my files were infected and I couldn't run anything, I was able to run Malware Bits, and it got rid of it, then did a system restore to be safe, still no sign of the virus now.
It was called AV Antivirus, but it comes up with the windows logo in the corner to make it look legit. I hope the creators die.

Program is great and safe.
Vouching for it.
Nothing like having pop up "av" ads that display the windows xp theme, while on Unbutu or 7, Those crack me up.
Kaspersky, NOD32. Two best anti-viruses you can choose either one they both work pretty much equally.
Avast blows terribly I had it before got a virus infection it just got shutdown.
AVG is ok, I'm using it right now because I have a 8 year subscription for free.
Both are paid AV's, for a free AV I would recommend MSE.
