Novatech has a 28 day return limit on faulty goods :frown: [editline]05:41PM[/editline] Which I'm over now..
Novatech has a 28 day return limit on faulty goods :frown: [editline]05:41PM[/editline] Which I'm over now..
There might still be hope. You might want to try taking the entire thing apart, including removing the mobo from the case, and putting it back together. It might seem silly/a waste of time, but on the second rebuild you sometimes catch things you missed the first time through.
Yeah ill try that first
I once woke up and got the idea to fix my RAM and put it in dual channel so half-asleep I made my way into the room where my computer is at and opened the side panel and moved the RAM to the two blue slots.. I then realized I didn't unplug my computer and instantly was wide awake. My computer didn't turn on at all so I tried unplugging it and plugging it back in... when I did that the fans all turned on.. but I didn't turn my computer on so I thought this was weird so I reseated my whole computer(new screws, etc.) and it worked. Talk about luck lol
Reseated :frown: still nothing...
Jesus christ resize those fucking pictures they are like twice as big as my screen I have to scroll all around to see them.
Jesus christ resize those fucking pictures they are like twice as big as my screen I have to scroll all around to see them.
Sorry Heh.. Media tagged them for a reason
Jesus christ resize those fucking pictures they are like twice as big as my screen I have to scroll all around to see them.
You must have one crappy res monitor.
You must have one crappy res monitor.
They are pretty huge. I consider 1280x1024 pretty standard resolution, and I still have to scroll all around :v:
They are pretty huge. I consider 1280x1024 pretty standard resolution, and I still have to scroll all around :v:
I am at 1440 by 900 and I didn't have to scroll around.
Been searching through google.. certainly does sound like a fried mobo.. Guess i might just have to buy another one..
Been searching through google.. certainly does sound like a fried mobo.. Guess i might just have to buy another one..
Don't buy another one, just RMA it.
I don't think I can..
I don't think I can..
How long have you had it? Sapphire let me RMA my year old GPU.
Who should i contact? Novatech who i bought it off (which i doubt they will do anything) or Asus themselves?
try detaching everything think out of all ports on ur computer (leave RAM processor and GPU in) take the battery out leave it for 1-2 mins then push the battery back in then try it
try detaching everything think out of all ports on ur computer (leave RAM processor and GPU in) take the battery out leave it for 1-2 mins then push the battery back in then try it
he fried the board by forgetting standoffs. this won't do anything except waste his time
-snip-
Who should i contact? Novatech who i bought it off (which i doubt they will do anything) or Asus themselves?
Asus.
he fried the board by forgetting standoffs. this won't do anything except waste his time
It was never really fully established, he only forgot the standoff on one screw hole, it might still be worth a try to reset his CMOS. Just last night I fucked up my second computer trying to OC it a bit too much, and it stopped POSTing. Took out the CMOS battery to reset the BIOS and it POSTed again. Maybe worth a try, but other wise RMA is probably your best bet.
Ok I'll try resetting the CMOS and if it doesn't work then ill contact Asus [editline]07:58AM[/editline] I haven't reset the CMOS yet but Asus's site says that for motherboards i should contact the re seller..
Good luck getting this fixed :( Doesn't ASUS have a warranty for most of their products anyways? [editline]02:42PM[/editline] Yeah I just looked almost all their products have a 3 year warranty.
Yeah they do but it says that for motherboards you have to contact the re-seller.. Novatech, who never replied to my emails :frown:
Dude you just made all of the same mistakes as I made when I built my first computer. I ended up frying mobo and I sent it back to intel. You should be able to send it back to asus, You will probably need to pay for the shipping though. You might have also fried other parts of your computer, so if the new mobo does not work that is probably why
Actually I think i can contact asus directly now.. http://support.asus.com/repair/repair.aspx?no=201&SLanguage=en-us (Warranty Replacement Options & Instructions(in EUROPE)) I didn't see that before but I'll try emailing their Holland branch and see if they will. [editline]08:59AM[/editline] I'm actually pretty sure I have to speak to novatech about getting an RMA because they contact Asus it seems and do all this for you.. They have a live chat and ill talk to them about it there... [editline]09:58AM[/editline] Novatech said they will test it and, if faulty, send it to Asus who will replace it and give it back to me
It could still be a faulty PSU. So what happened to that CMOS reset ?
I doubt it due to the other fans working fine and doing a CMOS reset didn't help.. But it's off to be tested now and I'll post the results and see what happens.
I work at a computer repair shop, and usually when the computer turns on but you get no video it means the CPU is toast. Since you had a pop from the CPU area, your CPU might've cooked. Or the CPU fan died and you trying to get it to run without the fan working caused the CPU to cook.

We'll i hope not.. it would be easier if the fault was the motherboard right now
I haven't built computer yet, but i got a request from a feind to build him one. I find this thread helpful, because now i know more about what can go wrong, and how i prevent it from happening. We learn by our failures, and this won't happen next time you try. Good luck.
