I'd love to know more about this one, the concept it good. Does it use a ton of bandwidth? Slow? Accurate?

Uses almost no resources scan really quickly I never noticed any bandwidth being taken up and when ever I scanned with malware I got nothing.
I was looking at MSE, but I need one with a firewall as well.
Is Avast worth it?
Avast! or MS Security Essentials
Panda cloud! Its so silent you will forget its even running.
avg is shit
go avast! or MSE
Clamwin - no realtime scanner, but still a decent line of defence if you set it up to automatically scan email and downloads. And definitely one of the lightest AVs out there.
Clamwin is horrible.
I'm using avast after swapping from McAfee (lol) and I like it.
Threatfire is eventbased and so will pretty much be invisible in every way possible.
Avast! is pretty good.
Threatfire is eventbased and so will pretty much be invisible in every way possible.
Threatfire is really more of the back-up plan if something ever goes wrong with your main antivirus. But I prefer hitman pro over threatfire(mainly due to it being a cloud scanner).
Nod32
I'm using Avast aswell and it yet didn't failed me :D
Ok, I got Avast.
Kinda confusing to use (to be honest I don't even know if I downloaded the right thing)
Am I right in thinking that it is an Anti Virus AND a firewall?

I love how the graphics on the box vaguely represent a Halo/Crysis mash-up, a random EA racing game, and a pathetic representation of World of Warcraft.
Saves on licensing, but damn... what cheap-asses.
Nod32, its the best, no viruses so far, and it runs really easy on the system.
Avast is pretty much God-Tier if on XP
I always scan infected systems with the Dr.Web Linux LiveCD first.
Then I'll reboot Windows into Safe Mode, disable every startup item in msconfig, and reboot into Windows again, but regular boot this time. Then I'll scan with shit like Spybot, Malwarebytes, and Avast.
Malwarebytes and DrWeb AV work the best for me out of everything posted in this thread so far.

Took me a while to decide that wasn't a photoshop, it really is that generic.
I used to use Avast! but since I reformatted recently I decided to try Comodo. Stay far away from it.
Does anyone know if MSE does actually work? I use it but it hasn't ever caught anything, but that might just be because there's nothing to catch.

It's amazing and integrates well with the OS. I don't get any of those false positives (lol) that Norton and the bloatware like give. Norton told me I had a trojan when I used to use it. I tried registry and it wasn't where it was supposed to be. I tried the file it said and it didn't even exist. I literally did not have the trojan at all but Norton thought I did.
I've used Avast! and MSE and neither bothered me at all. Avast! only seems to give me notifications when I turn on my PC and then it's silent, likewise for MSE.

It brought their point out, didn't they?
AVG has never given me problems. Ever.

I used to use AVG Free with Threatfire on my XP machine, it was pretty good.

MSE works great.
Avast won't bug you or ask you about useless shit all the time either. I use it and I've been using it for 4 years.
If antivirus has a "gaming mode" then throw it out already.
I use avast!, and it works great.
I'm using Comodo Antivirus right now and it's good for surfing but it's shit when it comes to resources or letting your computer do the things it should do. You have to let it 'accept' everything it does (let application STEAM launch .exe Half-Life 2? COULD BE A VIRUS LOL) and even when you exit it it leaves some ten applications still running.
What are your favorite, preferably free, antiviruses?
Try Avast works well and is super secure
