its above my price range.
The two best companies I know of are MSI and Asus.
Asus if you want a cheap "gaming" notebook. Acer if you want a cheap "all around" notebook. Lenovo if you want a cheap "school/business" notebook. These are what I would recommend. I would normally toss HP in as a decent media notebook but am starting to avoid them due to recent batches of newer ones that are coming into our shop with motherboard issues more frequently than any other notebook brand.
a tip for the bloatware, use something like keyfinder to get the OS key and then download an iso of the os that is shipped with it to reinstall then you have your computer, just as nature intended
To be truthful, i just dont like Asus for some reason. All i want is a laptop with reasonable specs and really good built in speakers.
No matter what brand you go with, there's going to be bloatware. ASUS makes great high-end machines. Acer (also carries the Gateway brand) makes great entry-level & mid-range machines. HP makes good machines but the prices are generally higher and the amount of bloatware is insurmountable. HP's support is pretty good, though (at least my experiences with them have been good). I wouldn't recommend HP as my first choice, but if you find a good deal, I say go for it. Lenovo makes great laptops for school/work as they are durable and usually more portable than others (but this comes at a price). Sony Vaios are nice too, but usually they're overpriced. Whatever you do, don't buy a Dell. Regardless of what you buy, do a fresh OS install as soon as you get it. Be sure to download all of the drivers that you need beforehand and put them on a flash drive or burn them to a CD.
In my sister's experience, Sony Vaios are alright but they tend to get hardware problems after a few months.

I could get a better computer for that money.
