i'm looking at either getting the gigabyte or the microsoft basic optical
I have a basic Logitech optical mouse thats five or 6 years old and has never failed me
I also have a $20 or $30 wireless Microsoft optical mouse that works awesome as well
probably the microsoft optical, depending on its scrolling
the gigabyte looks nice, but from the reviews i've been reading, it seems to be made cheaply and doesn't last for very long
my automerge has been destroyed

Logitech V450 wireless laser. It has a Nano Reciever, which means you can plug it in and forget about it because it doesn't bulge out. And you don't have to worry about cords tangling. The shape is really good, too. I have an M305, very similar, very good.
We sell a bunch of the the V and M series mice where I work (V220, V320, M305, M505, V470). You are right that the receiver is very small, but so is the actual mouse. I have fairly small hands and I can't ever see getting used to how small they are. They are designed for use on the go with laptops, and I am sure they work great for that, but I don't see using one as a main mouse when you can get a larger corded mouse cheaper.
If it works for clicking on things and moving stuff on screen, it is a good mouse.

This. I had some other cheap ms mouse and it lasted me two years. Then later scrollwheel started acting up.
Tbh using scroll wheel to switch weapons in CS:S or other games is very slow campared to your number keys because you have to scroll loads. But intellimouse 3.0 is a good option.
Also it is on ebuyer for 18.99 pounds
No. In source games, you know when you scroll your wheel to change weapons? My mouse doesn't allow for that very easily. It scrolls so fucking fast without any interruption that it passes the weapon I want. I want a weapon that clicks on each "scroll" so it stays on a weapon with each scroll. I don't know, it's hard to explain.
Ugh I HATED that about my Logitech VX Nano. The scrollwheel could be clutched in a standard clicky way, but even then just moving my mouse around would cause it to scroll and then I would switch weapons/whatever and I would go, for example, from being surrounded by antlions with my SMG to surrounded by antlions with my RPG and firing by mistake. "beepbeep beep beeeeeeeep...."

quality shit, too bad they're out of stock
I've been using the same one since they introduced it, it's going to be a damn long time before I change mice

Scroll down for jumping, pressing down on it (mouse 3) for in game voice.

What? It's the scroll wheel, not the operating system. Unless you mean that there was some cue from the mouse to tell the operating system to take the scrolling sensitivity down to practically nothing.
