Okay so I found a cheap enough way of getting a Nexus 4 to Ireland. Anybody think I should get a different phone or will I be happy with this? This is coming from a S2 user.
You're going to appreciate the decision for years to come. Whenever one of my android user friends see my N4, they can't stop talking about how they're only going Nexus into the future. [editline]26th March 2013[/editline] The most vocal of which is a Droid Razr owner, who just this month got an update to Jellybean 4.1. The phone shipped the same time 4.1 did, 16 months ago.

Like, the Christmas build was pushed and there were like 2 bugs reported. Moto had the update ready last year. Verizon kept it for months so they could boat it.
maybe she'll let you progress and play with her later on? [sup][sup][sup][sup]/terriblejoke[/sup][/sup][/sup][/sup]
Actually, I laugh at that because she's my ex :P
My school's wifi is pretty solid, occasionally in one area of the school it gets slow, though that's a given when you have the main entrance, a cafeteria and a Tim Horton's in the same area. I haven't run intoanything being blocked, you could even torrent though they throttle it a bit. The only inconvenience is that you need to sign in with your regular college username + password once a week.
my schools wifi is fast and all but the coverage is extremely spotty and upstairs is a mess. There's like three in the cafeteria which is good because hundreds of students are there anyways, the entire tech/hardware wing has almost no coverage, same with the gym area. Well this is it's first roll out so I guess I'll see more routers and better everything next school year. in other news, I've downloaded 300GB off it.
My schools wifi is ok. Not great, not terrrible. Just a bit slower than the wifi back home.
faster than my home internet :v:
Okay cool I guess a Nexus 4 is what I'm going to get then :)
The wait is killing me! I ordered my Nexus 7 over the weekend and I've been watching the UPS tracker every 30 minutes waiting for an update. According to google maps it's only 7 hours away, but that is of course not including stopping times for deliveries. Estimated arrival is Thursday, but I have high hopes that it arrives a day early. I've also done a lot of research for apps and games. So far I'm interested in getting these: Games Demolition Inc Strikefleet Omega Dark Meadow: The Pact Zombie Smasher Real Racer 3 GT Racing HD Monster Shooter Dead Trigger Modern combat Dead Space Riptide GP Mass Effect Inflitrator Nova 3 Shadowgun Angry Birds Space Fruit Ninja Horn Wild Blood Rayman World of Goo Apps Pokemon TV (23 and still rockin Pokemon, hell yea!) Camera Launcher for Nexus 7 Netflix Reddit (I don't frequent it, but it seems pretty popular) Google Drive Dropbox Steam Google Wallet Adobe Photoshop (On the fence about this one) Twitch TV MineCanary Minecraft Guide (Just so I don't have to minimize my screen on the PC or run to my PC while on the Xbox)
What VPN could I use that will let me buy a Nexus 4 off the English Play store, and deliver it to Ireland. Or can Google catch me out doing that?

Somehow yesterday while at work, my GS2 lost mobile data and hasn't got it back yet after almost 24 hours, think this phone is on it's last breath. Hoping my carrier will cut the last couple months of the contract like they usually do and upgrade to the GS4 when it comes out.
That's the whole point of my asking, to find out what are "real" cables. Honestly I have no idea where to buy. Google doesn't sell replacement chargers or cables in the UK from what I can see.
You basically have to go and find authentic cables. It's hard as hell because there's so many fakes out there. You might want to look into finding a retail shop for microUSB cables.

If so, uninstall it (use 3G Watchdog to turn it off and on through JD first though) and see if the problem comes up again. Otherwise, just turn it off and on through 3G Watchdog or something. Usually works when my Skyrocket loses connection to my wi-fi.
My dad is fearful of Google snooping in on everything uploaded to their servers through Drive and Music and such like that how do I get him to accept our lord Google
That depends, does he still use Google to search or does he use something like DuckDuckGo
Ask Jeeves :v: [editline]26th March 2013[/editline] So my friend's Nexus 4 came in today. I helped her set it up. I'm literally the most buttflustered shade of green.
just did a battery pull and it was fine
Oh I've tried battery pulls, leaving off for a while, flashing newest CM10.1 nightlies, factory resets, flashing new modems, flashing back to stock, checking APNs and IMEI are correct....nothing. Voice and SMS work fine still, just data and MMS won't. And I've noticed it takes like 5 minutes to pick up Wifi is on and my AP is in range.
Do you have JuiceDefender installed?
No JD or anything like that installed. Does it on a fresh install with no apps too.
Ask Jeeves :v:
hmm could be tricky if he's using Ask because he doesn't trust Google with his searches then he's a lost cause, but if not you might be able to convince him that Google doesn't really give that much of a shit about what you upload, only that you don't upload too much
That depends, does he still use Google to search or does he use something like DuckDuckGo
he owns an SIII and two Nexus 7s :v: he trusts the company with hardware and making a good product, he just doesn't trust them with his data also I put Jelly Bean on my Atrix 2, oh god this is amazing
I've been using Slacker Radio in the car today and it's fucking awesome for being free with the occasional ad (One on my ~30 minute trip to my mom's and another on the way back). The stations have great music, the quality is good and the $4/month version looks well worth the money, though I don't have a credit card to pay for it! It's also nice that the "Next track" button on my car stereo is mapped to the "Skip Song" button in the app. If Jelly Bean had a new enough AVRCP profile, it should display the song info on there too. I hate how whenever I screenshot a game, it breaks. Like it's stuck in the notification bar until I reboot and the image is lost.
The wait is killing me! I ordered my Nexus 7 over the weekend and I've been watching the UPS tracker every 30 minutes waiting for an update.
Welcome to the club. My Nexus 4 is now in the country (yay for the lack of Play Store here). ..I..need..it..
I love how I can use apps like TubeMate and download YouTube videos. Downloaded like 4gb already today. In other news, based on NetCounter, I used 250GB of WiFi in a year.
