-Not AMOLED, no burning, not that ridiculous contrast
The image contrast is only slightly too high on modern AMOLED displays.
I read an analysis of the S4 announcement that basically said "Samsung is about to dump android and go proprietary".
I'll link it, Gimme a sec.
In your opinion

my god damn mother fucking automerge.
In your opinion
No. 2.20 is optimal, iPhone 5 is 2.36, S3 is 2.38. Numbers from DisplayMate Technologies.
And here lies the opinion, only slightly might be different for you
And here lies the opinion, only slightly might be different for you
Uh no. It's based on to what degree a shift from an optimal setting is perceivable. That's why when you run something like the GretagMacbeth ColorChecker you'll get different colored lines that indicate where something deviates from standard to the point where it's noticeable. Your S2 is 2.60 by the way which is significantly steeper, and it shouldn't be used to judge more current AMOLEDs.
I don't even know what to say
'Ok'
I'm still not a fan of it seeing my friends s3
[editline]18th March 2013[/editline]
Screens aside, I still think the One is better
Never contested that. I bet the One looks gorgeous. I've seen the butterfly in person and I hope One will be even better.

I wouldn't trust anything CNet posts. Their articles are often heavily bias and opinionated, and a lot of the times they don't know what the hell they're talking about. Switching to a completely proprietary system will only lead to a downfall of their phone market.
My friend has an S3. Besides the obvious design fuck ups, my biggest issue with the hardware is the burn in/color balance.
White is blue.
Like, noticeably.
Like, powder blue.

Consumers like it. It's like an ice white. The thing is though, if any display shouldn't have a high white point it's an AMOLED. It just kills the blue subpixel material even faster.
Does anyone know if the HTC One is delayed beyond March in Scandinavia?
[editline]18th March 2013[/editline]
And why does Samsung insist on making such ugly phones? Look at the Xperia Z and HTC One. They're both beautiful, and then we have the S4 which looks like a mid end phone from 2009.

I hate it. It's not white. Why must they fuck with stuff like this?
I really like my Asus Transformer Infinity's IPS screen. It's on the dull side, but at least the colors are realistic.

They want it to look like a water eroded stone.
to match nature UX.
(Too bad it's all ugly as fuck).
And their build materials are literally the worst.
I personally love Motorola's design language.
If you don't like it then don't buy it. What do you expect us to do for you by ranting here?
Who says I expect anything? I just dislike Samsung's model.
I've been using sleep as a droid for a while now. Recently I've started waking up before the alarm, and staying perfectly still as to make sure it doesn't detect that I'm out of deep sleep.
i changed the display setting to natural on my note and things look nice
don't know how correct are they but i like it

Sorry. What was I thinking, this place is clearly not for discussion.
That is actually a pretty clever design, i'd use that.

Huh... Erm...
Uh...
Alright, now I think the One > S4 because:
Better screen
-Smaller (matter of opinion, may be worse for some)
-Not AMOLED, no burning, not that ridiculous contrast
Heavier - I just prefer my phones to have some weight, even if it's not that much more
Better build quality
Camera seems to be better from comparison shots
RF is definitely better, the One has external antennas, so you'll be able to hold onto marginal signals and get more out of that same signal. Zoe seems to be a pretty neat and non-gimmicky feature (seriously, what the fuck is a picture with sound?). Battery life should be better with stock batteries because LCD is significantly more efficient than OLED, especially at higher PPI. Mics can actually handle very loud environments without saturating (120 dB), and stereo front facing speakers are pretty nice for everything that needs sound.
[editline]18th March 2013[/editline]
If Samsung is so fucking obsessed with making their phones look like a polished stone, maybe they should take the next step and make it feel like one too.
I'd actually love that sort of cold, smooth, but grippy feel.
[editline]18th March 2013[/editline]
How hard can it even be, they should just literally put a rock coating on the back cover :v:
Well it's harder than using plastic apparently. It'd be nice if it was polycarbonate or something, but it feels like plastic made of melted down grocery bags and water bottles.

The thing is that it is polycarbonate, they just make it glossy and and stuff.

And they have it really thin and flimsy. Those Galaxy back covers just peel off like peeling a banana.
why don't manufacturers calibrate their fucking displays
or just give us the tools to calibrate them ourselves, fuck

I've never had an issue with my S2's back cover, it fits really tightly and securely onto the back and helps keep the phone thin. The material definitely doesn't feel great though. Samsung just seem to be throwing more and more gimmicks onto their phones without understanding that a phone that doesn't feel like shit is worth a million ways to wave your hand in front of the screen to manipulate a gallery of pictures. Seriously, it just seems to be stuff that you'll show off to your friends and never use again.

The latter would require packaging hundreds of dollars in equipment. Just buy HTC or Apple if you want a top notch display.

I liked the S2 because it was textured. But they've gone back to the trend of glossy plastic like the original Galaxy S.
I mean give us the ability to alter colour settings etc like you can do with monitors. That way if people want to adjust/calibrate things they can.

I've got the white s2 which is glossy.
