They want to earn back the cost of purchasing the frequency range they'll be using for LTE and the cost of rolling out LTE, as soon as possible I guess.

The cunts. Thanks.
Any recommendations for cheap NFC tags (from ebay or something) that work with the Nexus 4? Would be nice if it was a "batch" of 5 or 10 or so.
Anybody know a case like this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-Flip...383032&sr=1-34
For the Nexus 4??
your link is broken fyi

Anyway, Nillkin makes solid flip covers from what I've heard on the internet. They have several for the N4 too.
I have this weird issue on CM10 where the Google Play Music icon deletes itself off my dock pretty constantly. Droid RAZR M by the way.
Weird how my N4 seems to not slide off of anything so far.

Put it on the box and give it about 10 minutes

I'm pretty sure NFC is a standardized technology, so that any NFC tag will work with any NFC enabled phone. On Ebay, I found a lot of them, in different forms and colours, for about $5.
The Nexus 4 doesn't like the NXP tags that hold larger amounts of data (miFare classic 1k) because they had something proprietary in them that went against standards so they got disabled on Google phones like the Nexus range.
More info for you:
NXP has been one of the leading manufacturers of NFC hardware and pretty much all Android phones up to this point used NXP hardware. The NFC Forum has established protocols for NFC so that any hardware and any microchip (NFC Tag) that adheres to this protocol will be compatible. NXP created the Mifare Classic 1K Chip outside of the NFC Forum Protocols. While these chips are compatible with NXP hardware which covers about 95% of the NFC equipped phones and tablets on the market, the chips are not necessarily compatible with any phone that uses other manufacturer's hardware. On the Nexus 4 and 10 phones, Google decided to use a different manufacturer's NFC hardware (Broadcom). Because of this only chips which adhere to the NFC Forum's Protocols are completely compatible meaning the Mifare Classic chips are not. They can be detected by the Nexus 4 and 10, but can not be written to or fully read.

Wait, I still don't understand why you can't just stay on HSPA+. Doesn't your carrier have provisioning systems to keep people off LTE if they don't have the right data plan? I know AT&T definitely has such a system.

Every carrier will have that kind of system. At the very least, it should be provisioning people based on if they have an LTE SIM card. Here in Canada it'll be if it's enabled on the account, on the plan, and if the SIM is correct.

So it should be more than possible to just get a contract but without the LTE data plan, unless I'm an idiot.

Yes. We're not saying you can't.
In Australia with Telstra, it doesn't matter what SIM card or plan you have, all that matters is if the phone has LTE and you're in coverage, it'll connect.
So the HTC One got a repair score of 1, aka you're not repairing anything on this thing.

I assume you can still send it off to get repaired though? Cuz it has been cheaper to fix my phone with samsung than myself so far
Currently on CM9. I should really flash CM10.1 or something but haven't gotten around to it (lazy).
CM10.1 has more features but is much slower. Your choice.
tivo nominated for worst android app 2013 (btw it took them until yesterday to fix it crashing on 4.2)

Well it looks like a phone app on a tablet.

SIM matters. You need an LTE compatible SIM card.

heres some good news. http://www.phonearena.com/news/Exynos-5-Octa-chip-supports-all-20-LTE-bands-confirms-Samsung_id41340
It appears that Samsung’s decision of not shipping 70% galaxys s4's with the Exynos 5 octa could actually have more to do with supply and demand, with Samsung allotting the easy-to-obtain Snapdragon chip for regions that should see high demand as the company slowly ramps up Exynos production
Edit FIXED LINK

I just get an error, but judging from the link that's pretty impressive. Too bad that Exynos chip doesn't show up in some LTE countries in favour of Snapdragon 600, so it's fucking useless.
God I love Market Helper, I can now try out so many more games that technically can play those games (Glu mobile games), it's just the devs decided to ditch the resolution. Just downloaded Contract Killer 2, hope it works.
SIM matters. You need an LTE compatible SIM card.
Not here, I've used my 2 year old pre-LTE SIM card from my GS2 in a LTE phone and it connects, even Telstra say that's what is meant to happen.
