I mean give us the ability to alter colour settings etc like you can do with monitors. That way if people want to adjust/calibrate things they can.
To be honest, most people who try to do settings on their own usually end up making things worse. [editline]19th March 2013[/editline] And with OLED displays it'd be dangerous because people could end up killing their displays much faster, and then complaining to Samsung about it.
I guess. Never underestimate the stupidity of some people.
I swear, half of the android thread is screen discussion. In any case, I'm fucking creaming at that keyboard right now... Like, I want it. Yesterday.
I swear to god, the retards that scream about how metal phones "don't absorb shock" and "transfer shock to internals and the screen" make me lose IQ points. My favorite part of today was a "debate" over how the One will clearly have shitty RF performance and deathgrip, as if HTC was not around to watch Apple get blasted by the media for external antenna detuning.
My friend has an S3. Besides the obvious design fuck ups, my biggest issue with the hardware is the burn in/color balance. White is blue. Like, noticeably. Like, powder blue.
Huge +1 You have summed up my primary reason for not upgrading from a galaxy s 1 for the foreseeable future. I simply couldn't stand not having kernel-level rgb/gamma controls like I do now with Voodoo Colour. And the banding around text without the Voodoo fixes is crazy - unbelievable that Samsung have not fixed this in the S2 or S3 when it is 100% a software/kernel issue (not pentile layout related as some believe).

cyanogenmod devs + many more said that they're not doing shit with galaxy s4 just an fyi
Citation?
Guys, thinking of buying a 7" tablet. Had a look at a Hyundai T7s, see here except with 2gb RAM. i know it's a samsung oblong but that's cheap for a quad core 7" tab right? ...right?
Citation?
It's been known for a while that Samsung are cunts to unofficial ROM developers. ESPECIALLY with their own ARM chips.

any specific reason? i'd rather spend £30 less for a tab with a microsd slot ... is jellybean really worth it?
any specific reason? i'd rather spend £30 less for a tab with a microsd slot ... is jellybean really worth it?
Nexus devices aren't loaded with bloat from the factory, and easy to tinker with software wise. Although I will agree that lack of sd-card slot is a potential dealbreaker in regards of the Nexus 7
Look what I bought [editline]18th March 2013[/editline] Also, what roms do you guys suggest? Should I go back to cyanogen? Or try something else?
How about stick with the Sony stock ROM until you get bored? Also I'm jelly
I'll give the Hyundai a shot. bloatware (if any) can probably be removed, and i don't bother with rooting devices because i'm too dumb to live edit - xperia z, why must you taunt my wallet so
Why not?
YOU GOT TWO??? Now I'm super jelly. You better make 3D underwater videos and shit.
Ok, so I'm leaning to the Android central podcast about the S4, and not only is it full of gimmicks people are just gonna be turn off, it is all baked in and proprietary. Here's the problem. They have shit like SHub and what not, and I'm positive that if they don't drop android completely, they're gonna pull n amazon and fork it so hard it doesn't matter.
It's been known for a while that Samsung are cunts to unofficial ROM developers. ESPECIALLY with their own ARM chips.
If you had seen my posts here, you'd know that I'm very well aware that they hate Exynos. But that's not what I'm asking for. I'm asking for an article or citation that states that these developers refuse to make CM for the S4. I know Entropy said it (something along the line of still refusing after giving him a thousand dollars and a free S4), where are the other developers? This was what I was asking for (found it meself) http://www.android.gs/no-official-cyanogenmod-cm-rom-galaxy-s4-i9500/ I believe Samsung is going to go down the shitter after hearing the drop of CM support and the news about Samsung going their own way with the OS.
I believe Samsung is going to go down the shitter after hearing the drop of CM support and the news about Samsung going their own way with the OS.
Except the average android user wouldn't even know what Cyanogenmod is. Stuff like that doesn't matter to consumers, and the more technically knowledgable Android community doesn't seem to get that they're quite a minority overall.
I believe Samsung is going to go down the shitter after hearing the drop of CM support and the news about Samsung going their own way with the OS.
is this sarcasm?
Except the average android user wouldn't even know what Cyanogenmod is. Stuff like that doesn't matter to consumers, and the more technically knowledgable Android community doesn't seem to get that they're quite a minority overall.

Although only a subset of total CyanogenMod users elect to report their use of the firmware,[6] as of 31 December 2012, CyanogenMod has recorded over 3.6 million active installs on a multitude of devices.[7][8]
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CyanogenMod (http://stats.cyanogenmod.com/ won't load for me) It's still a serious dent. Also, my comment was more aimed at the "custom OS" thing and all the bullshit they put on the S4.
That's a joke compared to how many android devices are sold. Complete minority, Samsung wont care.
Well then how about all the reviews for the S4, is that going to make a difference? "Failing the cool factor" http://www.forbes.com/sites/tristanlouis/2013/03/15/hands-on-with-the-galaxy-s4/ "A minor refresh of the Galaxy SIII" http://www.androidpolice.com/2013/03/14/hands-on-with-the-galaxy-s4-a-minor-refresh-of-the-galaxy-s-iii/ The news about developers hating the S4. Normal people will get the bad vibe from that: "oh the developer community doesn't like the S4, probably for a reason" Samsung drifting away from Android: http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2013/01/samsung-drifts-away-from-android-will-motorola-rise-to-replace-it/ People on this forum are saying Samsung dropped the ball. Surely facepunch isn't the only community saying that. Both Samsung and the S4 is getting bad news from everywhere, even my half technically illiterate father picked up on it. Sure it's going to sell well, but I think it will be less popular than the SIII.
That is stuff that only we care about. Look, the Galaxy brand is bigger than the Android brand. The average consumer walks into the carrier store, asks the guy what they need, and buy the phone they've seen on TV. That is who were talking about here.

Consumers don't care whether their laptop/computer can run different Operating Systems. All they know is Microsoft Windows or Mac OS X.

I can't even tell you how many times someone wanted to buy a "Samsung Galaxy"
Not even that. The average consumer says "apple or not apple" when it comes to computers (and mobile, where it's apple, Samsung, or other).
Seriously. Only a few people that I know have actually rooted and flashed custom ROMs. I think maybe, 4 out of the dozens of people I know that have Android phones. Most of them just stick with the stock firmware, and never really question it.
Yup that's basically how it works. I can't even tell you how many times someone wanted to buy a "Samsung Galaxy"
Absolutely. Most people think "droids" and Android phones are the same thing.
Absolutely. Most people think "droid" and Android are the same thing.
Our local TV news station advertises their "droid" app in the voice-over. Interestingly, they call it Android in the onscreen text. So they really aren't sure :v:
