[QUOTE=garychencool;40003228]That sounds like a plan! Oh what percentage purity of sulfuric acid are we talking about here?[/QUOTE]
Pure. 100%. Sulfuric. Acid.
Enjoy your phone then!
And I'll ask for the shipping fee back.

You're so mean to phones!
Searching around I found out that Xperia Tipo doesn't have CyanogenMod.
Guess I'm stuck forever with ICS.

I didn't know Google Now did this, that's really cool.
So I just found out why the SII/Note had this stupid zoom when you video record at 1080p.
[quote]
A peculiar thing to note is that when shooting FullHD videos you have a narrower field of view than that of the still camera. The explanation is that the camcorder uses only the center of the 8MP sensor instead of shooting with the whole surface and then scale it down to 1080p.
In 720p video capture mode however they use the whole sensor and as a result you have almost the same wide field of view as the still camera (about 30mm).

Whyyyyy I just find this extremely stupid which means I would be limited to 720p for almost all of the shots and not 1080p since it's basically a shitty crop...
When does Google usually reveal new devices and Android updates?
[QUOTE=FullStreak12;40004730]When does Google usually reveal new devices and Android updates?[/QUOTE]
The next event is the Google I/O dev conference this May 15-17. Last year they revealed the Nexus 7 and 4.1, the expectation this year is a Nexus 7 refresh and 4.3 or 5.0, and probably some nice surprises too.
probably more glass

Are there any rumors on new devices?

What's so exciting about the X-phone? Customizing internals is a bullshit rumor, its unfeasible and not at all comparable to customized PCs which are bought in much smaller amounts than cell phones, and don't require every single part to be soldered together. The most you could do is case color and storage which is pretty much possible already with devices on the market. No device Motorola makes seems to stand above the rest.

How would the Nexus get instant updates if it can have variable hardware? Or have Google finally fixed that?
[QUOTE=FullStreak12;40005051]How would the Nexus get instant updates if it can have variable hardware? Or have Google finally fixed that?[/QUOTE]
It can't unless the firmware is made to account for every single possibility. Again, supports the idea that it's a ridiculous rumor.
[editline]22nd March 2013[/editline]
Like even iOS, which is absolutely the most controlled OS out there with Apple knowing the hardware in every single device, has a specific version for each device. There is no one size fits all IPSW.
The custom casing color is the only feasible part.
And the more likely rumor is that it's a whole line of flagships, not just one phone. All that different hardware may have led people to jump to the "customizable internals" conclusion.

It's not nexus.

That's true. And google bosses have explicitly stated that they're changing that.
[editline]22nd March 2013[/editline]
Motorols'a build/design is already second to none (except maybe the HTC One).
And they have the least obtrusive UI skin.

From a quick Google search I found an unofficial build of CM and multiple Jelly Bean roms.

I thought Android users were supposed to be the more technically knowledgeable. Seems like there's a lot of gullibility when a major Android news site even bothers to report on such a rumor.

It wasnt just that. A big wig at motorola made the comment that "customizable phones" may be the way of the future. That, plus a "reliable source", plus tons of different hardware... Not a hard conclusion to jump to.

Uh it's very hard to jump to when you consider the scale that phones are produced at. Look at Google and LG trying to keep up with demand for one phone with the only difference being 8 or 16GB. Having build your own phones is not the same as a PC where different RAM involves the vendor putting different sticks in a slot. Everything is soldered together.
[editline]23rd March 2013[/editline]
I mean I guess if you have a PoP SoC you can do RAM alterations but even then you'd have to manufacture bunches of phones and Google hasn't shown themselves to be good at predicting demand for their devices. They're probably end up with unsold devices with whatever the least popular amount of RAM is.

I'm not saying it was right or that it makes sense. All I'm saying is that I can see where they are coming from.
The only "customizable" parts any of the credible sites were saying was RAM, internal storage, and color. The last 2 actually make tons of sense, and if you have just 2 options for RAM, that could work too.

RAM possibility depends on how the SoC does it. As for the storage, that's been done for a long time now with phones and for color with the GS3 and Nokia's Lumia line among others. It's not really that amazing that they'd offer many colors and a couple storage options.
Well customising a laptop is already a pain in the arse. Imagine how bitch it will be at phone scale. It'd be ridiculously hard.
The only feasible way I can see this working is if you get to customise the phone on a website order and it will be manufactured specifically for you from a range of available parts, like ordering a computer of a big company website.

I would assume that, because of OS constraints, it would be straight up impossible.

Has anyone found a mod to disable this crop and allow Samsung Galaxy Phones use the full frame at 1080p video recording?

This is not news. The S2 didn't have a good enough ISP to handle a full sensor 1080p downscale at acceptable bitrate and framerate.
[editline]22nd March 2013[/editline]
And Kaabi is dead on about "customizable" phones. As it is, it just isn't happening. Support would be a nightmare, and so would distribution, because every variant is another SKU.

Do yourself a favor and instead of getting that, save your money and get a better calibrated display by nabbing a One S with the Snapdragon S4.
If battery life bugs you after that, swap the battery out for either the One X or One X+ one, because it's been confirmed that you can do it without running into problems.
The One S is also confirmed to be getting Sense 5 with Android 4.2.2, the camera is pretty great if you run a custom ROM that gets rid of all the compression that HTC does, and sound quality is unparalleled at that price point. Only issue is 16 GB of storage.
Oh god, the fragmentation with Android is already bad enough. Now customizable phones?

CM10.1 ONLY SUPPORTED IF YOU HAVE 2GB RAM. ANY LESS OR MORE WILL NOT WORK!
WHAT IS BROKEN? YOU TELL ME![/B]
EDIT: Don't try the battery thing. I'd recommend a battery case that doesn't have the battery running over the plastic pieces instead.
Got a Otterbox for my S3.
Also have to switch to Sprint because T-Mobile made me angry. Going to buy a 2nd S3.
