Yeah, because you trolling on an internet forum is enough incentive for them not to want your $100 a month or whatever it is. A lot of companies have things like this, but rarely do they act on them, people download things illegally quite often, they get warned, but I've never actually met someone who's been taken to court or had their internet shut off. (piracy is bad, just an example of a breach of terms of use generally)
They have it just a precaution so if they do go to court then they can say "we have this on the contract that you agreed to."
Eww. That's like $130 a month, right?
Yeah, something like that.
Meh I used to have 50Mbps from Comcast when they were testing the stuff in my area. The speed was pretty good, but Id rather get my hands on Googles new stuff.
Well I get pretty great speeds and when I have a problem their Customer service is pretty good in my area. Like $35 a month for 20-30Mbps. Not bad really.
I don't give a shit about MBps (its just a number they can sell you, since most actual speed depends on the server your getting content from, rarely does anybody max out there mbps) ill only pay extra for more bandwith
I'm doing fine with comcast. They haven't really charged us for stupid stuff, and they internet hasn't cut out on me at all.
I have to say the bad stuff I hear about comcast are from people who rent modems I hear nothing bad from people who buy there own.
I have to say the bad stuff I hear about comcast are from people who rent modems I hear nothing bad from people who buy there own.
This. Buy your own routers ad modems. The ones comcast provide are absolute shit.
This. Buy your own routers ad modems. The ones comcast provide are absolute shit.
Getting charter soon. Got this modem for 20 bucks w/ free shipping. During a shellshocker deal. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16825120003

[editline]09:26PM[/editline] Charter was awesome, then Suddenlink came over and bought them out. Gave us these super high volume retarded commercials and absolute shit Internet service. Shit goes out every few hours. [editline]09:26PM[/editline] This is with a $200 Linksys router and $150 Linksys modem.

Not as good as FIOS but alas I live kinda in the middle of nowhere.
Well I live in michigan and we still have charter and I hear very good things about them. But when we lived in Sterling Heights, we never had an issue with comcast. Have more issues with comcast here in the 15 months we have been here than we have at our old place that we lived at for like 12 years, granted only 3-4 of those years we had comcast but still.
Holy shit, that is in the ToS.
My old clan leader did that to an abuser. The person spammed our forum with thousands of posts, he called their ISP and filed a complaint, threatened to sue and the person had his service discontinued.
Well I live in michigan and we still have charter and I hear very good things about them. Anyway I'm at my grandparents house right now and they have a much better connection that we do. My house has like 350kb/s usually here I can get 650kb/s. That is if I'm reading it all right.
I've never understood why there excists bandwidth restricted plans and why people buy them.
They buy them because there is no option usually. I was stuck under one of those plans till the fiber optic cables were installed in my neighborhood.
Britain needs to get it's shit together. Our internet is fucking horrible, the maximum I can get is 2mb/s. Even in big city's the maximum you can get is 20mb/s, but that costs £25 ($40) a month.

That said, I've never had any problems with their service, and I use the internet pretty much all the time I'm at home. Good job we're upgrading to the unlimited package in the the next couple of days...
250 GB monthly cap. A bandwidth cap to begin with.
250GB is a LOT, most people won't use that much in 5 months let alone 1.
250GB is a LOT, most people won't use that much in 5 months let alone 1.
Yeah charters is 100 gigs.
250GB is a LOT, most people won't use that much in 5 months let alone 1.
Unless you reformat and forget to back up steam games lol. (guilty)
Ever try their customer support? Fucking abyss of hell.
I dare you too find five places, not even having to do with computers, that has good customer support.
I dare you too find five places, not even having to do with computers, that has good customer support.
Newegg's. It is awesome. [editline]05:36PM[/editline] So 1.
250GB is a LOT, most people won't use that much in 5 months let alone 1.
YouTube.
YouTube.
You would have to be sitting there watching all HD videos for days on end before you would hit that bandwidth cap with Youtube alone. And you would be waiting for the damn video to load most of the time anyway. Anyhow, I think we are lucky. We only have one internet provider for residential customers (Midcontinent) and they actually have pretty reliable service. They upgraded everyone's internet bandwidth not to long ago, so I can sometimes reach 2 MB a second on a torrent over wifi which is pretty good for where I live. EDIT: For torrenting Linux distros of course.
I've never had a Comcast problem. Just when I thought of switching to FiOS, they doubled my internet speed and gave me more channels for free. I didn't have to even call them. Never get dropped connections, and my speeds are always above 20MB down, 5MB up. No complaints here. Comcast for the win.
Ever try their customer support? Fucking abyss of hell.
Actually there really not that bad in my experience, i called about a server problem and the woman actually knew what the fuck she was talking about.
