oh i'm sure you do
Totally man, bigger fans.
Totally man, bigger fans.
Size of a building?
Size of a building?
Does the Burj count?
Yeah asking for the heat is gonna anger tons of the nvidia fanboys because they all know how hot Nvidia makes their cards run, my 9800 runs 2x hotter than my friends 5970.
Well the more heat they put out the less efficient they tend to be.
the charts are quite obviously to be set up so that the difference looks like alot more than it really is. I mean, I'm no fanboy, but all the bullshit from nvidia isn't exactly making me respect them. whats the thing going to cost anyway?
I want comparisons of non dx11 benchmarks between fermi and the GTX285. Fermi makes me think of furby, imagine an nVidia card covered in fur that talks in a voice that is annoying and creepy at the same time.
The HD4xxx series was extremely hot when they first came out, but it still didn't stop them being a great hit.
That was only because the default fan speeds were extremely low. Bump up the fan a tiny bit and they ran a shit load cooler. My 5850 runs at ~30C(~50 in games) while my 8800GT idled at 60C and rose to ~80C in games. The fan was also really fucking loud(not to mention terrible at doing its job).
Nope, Ive got better cooling than he does.
Fact: ATI cards have always run hotter than their NVIDIA counter-parts.

You should stick with making your "gamemodes" and stay out of PC H&S, you've embarrassed yourself enough in the L4D and TF2 sections. [editline]05:17PM[/editline] fuckin autmergeraijfgd ioj adpgfadijgfadipoga [editline]05:17PM[/editline] @hunterbrute
Needs 3rd party testing.
too bad CES is over. I wanted to go to vegas for the day and steal the fermi PC
Have we seen them on 5870 / 5970?
The benchmarks posted up top show that they put the 5870 up against the GF100 on those demos. My question is wether or not those are demos made specifically for this card, as they're usually optimized for whatever card is released at the time. Case in point: Nalu, which was made for the 6600/6800 cards ran pretty damn slow on my 7950GT, 9800GTX, and GTX285. (not nearly as slow on the 285, it was actually quite a bit faster than on the other two cards)
My question is wether or not those are demos made specifically for this card

Unigine was designed on, developed on and tested on ATI 5xxx series cards alone, as they're the only DX11 cards out.. yet Fermi still runs 1.6x faster on it.
jesus fuck, fanboys get more stupid by the minute
Did we ever get a size estimate on the Fermi cards?
Did we ever get a size estimate on the Fermi cards?
it looks big inside the ~~what case? i forgot~~ some pics
it looks big inside the Corsair 800D some pics
Looks similar in size to the HD5870.
it looks big inside the ~~what case? i forgot~~ some pics
Why is it sideways...?
what case is that? it's not the 800D. It would be easier to compare it with a 5870 and the same case
Why is it sideways...?
Strange setup, it appears to be liquid cooled, hence the lack of fans, looks cleaner I guess to have the mobo sideways like that and to just have cables out the back. [editline]06:53PM[/editline]
I want to see benchmarks that aren't from the company creating the product. I don't want to see scales comparing the card to the 5870, the scales can be biased as fuck. I want to see scales comparing both cards to zero
What do you propose to use as the baseline?
wow those charts are useless
what case is that? it's not the 800D. It would be easier to compare it with a 5870 and the same case
I found it, it's a silverstone raven full tower. And that case is HUGE.
What do you propose to use as the baseline?
You don't need a baseline, most benchmarks compare the absolute performance of the cards (i.e. framerates) rather than one card's performance as a percentage of the other's.
It's the same length as the GTX 2 series (10.5")
Needs 3rd party testing.
it'd have to be released for that, wouldn't it?
You don't need a baseline, most benchmarks compare the absolute performance of the cards (i.e. framerates) rather than one card's performance as a percentage of the other's.
I don't know what was going through my head when I said that. One of those moments I suppose.
Except Unigine was designed on, developed on and tested on ATI 5xxx series cards alone, as they're the only DX11 cards out.. yet Fermi still runs 1.6x faster on it.
oh okay, didn't know that but it still sounds like ikea furniture it reminds me a lot of the Furni ikea ripoff from fight club to boot
jesus fuck, fanboys get more stupid by the minute
For fuck's sake, I'm not a fuckin' fanboy. That seems to be the ultimate rebuttal in this fuckin' section. The question I asked is completely legitimate as many nVidia demos have been modified to allow them to be run on ATi cards and they usually ran faster. I'm not saying that this is definitely the case here, simply that I'm curious. I like nVidia, I've only owned nVidia cards, and I was hoping Fermi would be all that it's cracked out to be. FUCK.
