How has that quote anything to do with it being Nvidia or ATI? Anyway I'm not really shelling out the extra 60€ because of fanboys being obnoxious, but because I ended up having 80€ to spare, so why not put them on the GPU.
Go for an 470 if you are an "Nvidia" owner. The 480 is really really bad as graphic card.
Go for an 470 if you are an "Nvidia" owner. The 480 is really really bad as graphic card.
no its not
The way I see it, (the obviously dumb nVidia fanboy) is that the higher the number the better card is, but that doesn't seem to be the case anymore.
glad they're not the arguing type
no its not
Yeah it kind of is for the price.
Yeah it kind of is for the price.
if you're new to nvidia or just graphics cards in general sure

You should also think about the power being used as well.
Why not save it up for crossfire later on, or just pocket the money? You should also think about the power being used as well.
Or just Blow it? Or go to a cheap gentleman's club? Or buy some cheap booze? Its his money, let him deal with all he wants.
what would "it being your first nvidia gpu or gpu in general" have to do with how good a card is and how well it's priced?
if you're gpu professional nvidia is better choice
if you're gpu professional nvidia is better choice
Um, no.
Why not save it up for crossfire later on, or just pocket the money? You should also think about the power being used as well.
Well if I go by my usual standard (GPU change every 4 years), then 2 5870s would end up costing 800€, while a single 480 only costs 500€. The power consumption isn't really an issue either, at the moment I live in an apartment and electricity is included in the monthly cost. If anything it's the heat that worried me a bit (not much for the PC, but mostly for me and the room temperature in summer), but I doubt it will go much higher than my current 8800GTX (which gets pushed to the max easily in today's games and easily goes to 90C). That said I still think that as a generation, the 5000-series is better than the 400-series for now (because it's not really a fair comparison, considering how long the 5000-series have been out) and will still recommend a 5870 to most. The 480 (or any Fermi really) is a bit of a bet, it might be that its performance will see a huge increase when newer games start using new rendering techniques, or it might not.
if you're gpu professional nvidia is better choice
if you were a "professional" you wouldn't be looking at the GeForce cards
if you were a "professional" you wouldn't be looking at the GeForce cards
Exactly. GeForce cards are for private (well mostly) consumers.
if you were a "professional" you wouldn't be looking at the GeForce cards
Matrox all the fucking way.
Um, no.
I was being 100% serious obviously
what would "it being your first nvidia gpu or gpu in general" have to do with how good a card is and how well it's priced?
nvidia has always been higher priced, $500 (recommended) for their current "flagship" is nothing new
yeah like their 8800 UTLRA was 700 bucks when it came out
nvidia has always been higher priced, $500 (recommended) for their current "flagship" is nothing new
and this changes the price:performance how?
and this changes the price:performance how?
i don't know what's so god damn difficult about this but nvidia has always been pricey holy shit man do i have to make a diagram for you or something
i don't know what's so god damn difficult about this but nvidia has always been pricey holy shit man do i have to make a diagram for you or something
Yesh :smug:
NVIDIA has had its shining moments. such as the 8800 GT..
just in case you said yes i went ahead and made a makeshift diagram
holy shit nice graph man
yeah as you can see nvidia has always been 2 or 3 centimeters more expensive than ati
lol
yeah as you can see nvidia has always been 2 or 3 centimeters more expensive than ati
Trivialities mate.
yeah as you can see nvidia has always been 2 or 3 centimeters more expensive than ati
Thanks for that, been waiting for someone to make a nice one ever since ever.
QUESTION for you whatnow as i think you're the one who got the 470 - can it do 5.1 over HDMI? I'm pretty sure they got rid of the SPDIF port on the card (which is annoying), but that doesn't mean the card itself can't do 5.1 as some have in the past (ie GTX260 core216), with or without the card.
that im not sure, I see two port things that might be HDMI audio thing or in other words, i dont really know
