This naming stuff is really getting stupid.
If I ever release a GPU series, it's gonna start at 1 and keep going from there.
Rad-Force 1.
I wouldnt start at 1 at all, i would start at 0.000x and I would use a boycott from intel 'smart gaming starts here' That would be my suckiest gpu then 0.00x would be midrange and 0.0xx would be highend. The top cards would be x.0000
After a while the numbers would evolve to something like this 0.0002(lowrange) 0.002 midrange 0.02 high end and the 2 would be GAMER SERIES

Sounds almost as complicated as nvidia's
Sounds almost as complicated as nvidia's
Yeah... I might rethink about it later....

So, assuming you'd reach the 10'th generation how would that work?
ATI picked a better naming system. NVIDIA ran out of numbers, it's not like they can go past 9000 series. it will be like the "GEFORCE 11000 GTX+"
awkward. I don't like what they did, but it's better than that, no?
I know it was a joke, I'm not taking it seriously, I was just wondering if AMD is still in a bad economic shape or not.
Actually AMD is in good shape after buying ATI, they have been making huge success for the ATI cards (Probably because their awesome) and even though their Phenom 2 x4s are still slower than the exspensive I7s they are making a profit. Because the price and performace is really being delivered with the Phenom 2 cpus, and its making up for the loss they have been in from Intel.
Look at some reviews I think one of the reviewers at Anandtech even said welcome back to the game (or something like that) in one of their reviews of the CPU.
Edit: If I am wrong about something please correct me. D:
If I was an average consumer I would go for the 9800GT, higher number = better
9800 is a perfectly good card... especially the gigabyte rev2 model.
Why do they create all this pollution and waste energy to create low-end computer parts? I would manufacture only the best of the best technology and sell it cheap.
Would be a bad move, hasn't AMD been in serious economic trouble for a lot of time now? Or has that changed?
They were in economic trouble in 2000... Pentium and Celeron were dominating the market and AMD couldn't keep up.
I'm not paying $50 to intel so I can get a few more frames at the same frequency as an AMD

You're a tard.

And ATI didn't...
Radeon 9500, 9600, 9600SE, 9600 Pro EZ, 9600 Pro, 9600XT, X550, X600, X1000, X1900 CE, X1900 XT, X1900 XTX, X1900XTXGTPRO
seriously its a cluster fuck on both sides.
Would be a bad move, hasn't AMD been in serious economic trouble for a lot of time now? Or has that changed?
Yeah, AMD still loses roughly $2 billion a year. Would be a horrid investment.
But they have a lot more money, and are making up for the losses. Specially after Intel paid them so they wouldn't have to go to court anymore.

well then they started doing what NVIDIA did when they ran out of numbers.
add a prefix.
for ATI, it's HD.
for NVIDIA, it's GTX/GTS/GT and whatnot.
Well well, another gen coming and I'm still on my 8800 GTS 320MB..
Hopefully, ATI will lower the costs of the HD 5xxx series cards just to compete with them.
We will see

why wouldn't nvidia be able to do that, ATI's always done that,

no not really.
for ATI the numbers are still going up they haven't reused any of them. same thing with nVidia actually. and what ati does is actually add a suffix
[editline]10:44PM[/editline]
why does the naming even matter i mean really
cause it's too long :saddowns:
Are you guys fighting over name numbers?
Oh yeah, Facepunch. :allears:
I wonder what ATI will do after they get to HD9000
i wonder what ati will do after they get to hd9000
Probably 3D1000
i wonder what ati will do after they get to hd9000
hd9001
