NVIDIA has had its shining moments.
such as the 8800 GT..
When My 8800GT died I put it in a picture frame, and it is now on my mantle.
:crying:
QUESTION for you whatnow as i think you're the one who got the 470 - can it do 5.1 over HDMI? I'm pretty sure they got rid of the SPDIF port on the card (which is annoying), but that doesn't mean the card itself can't do 5.1 as some have in the past (ie GTX260 core216), with or without the card.
i think they can do upto 7.1 lpcm but not bitstreaming of dts-hd/truehd
no its not
People who think that owning the most "powerful" mono-gpu card aside the unbearable power consumption/heat/noise, and the very high price, is totally worth it.
What a joke.
Maybe when Nvidia will drop their prices and will create another version of 480, but actually, this is the worst graphic card on this generation, in my opinion. The 470 seems at least much better compared to this crap.
I love how people seems to have an habit to spend components under pretext that they will have the best perf.
What are you even on about.
dont know but sure sounds dumb
I don't understand how anyone can put up with Nvidia anymore, between the terrible support and atrocious overpricing.
I don't understand how anyone can put up with Nvidia anymore, between the terrible support and atrocious overpricing.
Woooooooooooooooooooooooooooo fanboyism just as annoying as always.
lol nvidia doesn't provide support, EVGA, etc does.

thats not really fanboyism, that's just being dumb
oh the overpricing probably is just fanboyism
Never buy from anyone else other than EVGA when it comes to nvidia GPUs/Mobo/anything else they sell. They have the best customer support ever. My cousin got a mobo from them and it was fucking up and had to return four times. They gave him a free upgrade.
duno about that, i hear people getting their shitty cards replaced with GTX 260/285s with BFG.
sadly they're not in the fermi game.. I think..
EVGA have a life-long warranty that's basically a "no questions asked" thing if you register your card within 30 days.
XFX and EVGA.

I don't understand how anyone can put up with ATI anymore, between the terrible drivers and atrocious stability.
:smug:
Doesn't really matter at this point, you know.
if anything, that quote should be aimed at ATI because of their (x600 series or whatever?? they had shitloads of problems if i recall)
if anything, that quote should be aimed at ATI because of their (x600 series or whatever?? they had shitloads of problems if i recall)
I used to have an X1300 XGE and the thing BSOD'd once every week or so without warning and I had stability issues out the ass with it.
there we go

seems like aimless fanboy bitching on your end
i don't know why it angers you so much that other people like something you clearly do not
I don't understand how anyone can put up with Nvidia anymore, between the terrible support and atrocious overpricing.
...terrible...support? what exactly are you referring to when you say 'support'? tech support or software, because one is nothing nVidia has anything to do with, and the other one only rarely has a problem.
and the pricing has always been. actually come to think of it i think ATI and nVidia both set the recommended prices for their competitive cards exactly the same, just the manufacturers either raise or lower the price, and then the retailers raise or lower to suit their needs.
really praising and criticizing ATI or nVidia for pricing is retarded as they don't really have a lot to do with it

i think they are but they're going to be a late show up.
and nvidia is purposely delaying XFX or something because they're also selling the 58xx^ up series.
or something, i don't know

Could I know why you call me a fanboy? I own both ATI and Nvidia graphic card in my two computers, but I am at least much more reasonable than you. I have every right to say that Nvidia did a pitiful counter-attack against the RadeonHD 5000 (except for the 470 and maybe the 460).
It saddens me to see that people can't use their common sense and throw their money like that.
oh hey look i have NVIDIA and ATI cards that must mean im not a fanboy
edit:
reading the rest of your quote, you're digging yourself a deeper hole

ok you're not getting this i just had to explain it to the other guy
nvidia has always cost more, if you want nvidia because of personal preference, you're 99% likely to pay that price.
[editline]11:27PM[/editline]
and plus you said the GTX 480 is a terrible card and you have no reasoning to back it up other than "it cost 2 moch" and well like i've been trying to say - nvidia has always been "expensive"
[editline]11:29PM[/editline]
and yes in this discussion, if you were to get a GTX480 instead of the 5870, yeah, you would be paying more, and yes, you would be paying more for more performance. are you going to notice a gigantic difference in performance? depending on what you're doing/playing, maybe maybe not, but in the end there's more performance, as clearly portrayed by the slew of benchmarks posted in this very thread.
[editline]11:31PM[/editline]
your move
I would lying if I said the 480 had no more performance than 5870 as mono-gpu GC. But the reference card is hardly good on many ways (heat/noise/power), unless the others companies (XFX, Asus,...) will create a better version of this.
"I love how people seems to have an habit to spend components under pretext that they will have the best perf."
Yeah that's right. But it's not like you cannot find others cards from Nvidia and ATI for less expensive, and obtain very good fps in 95% of games.
[editline]12:25PM[/editline]
Unless if you want to show everyone you have the "big card" to impress them.
you're joking, right, is that really all you have in response?
You didn't seem to understand well the sense of my quote on your previous post.
oh, no, i understood it to the full extent
1. Go out.
2. Buy GFX card.
3. Play game.
4. Rage about game, not GFX.
5. ???
6. Everyones happy.
I would lying if I said the 480 had no more performance than 5870 as mono-gpu GC. But the reference card is hardly good on many ways (heat/noise/power), unless the others companies (XFX, Asus,...) will create a better version of this.
Okay. It's a few degrees hotter than the 5870, they create about the same amount of noise. The only argument you have is that it uses a lot of power.
I bought a corsair 750W and I can basically throw in any graphics card (within reason, not like two 5970s or three GTX 480s or something)
it's like 109 bucks, and if you're buying a card with that budget you should assume you have a PSU at/around/above 550W.
