This is all bullshit. Total PURE BULLSHIT. Look at you, youre going to bits over two completely different vendors selling similar cards and you know what? Im fucking tired of your incessant nagging. Just because one card is red and the other is green doesnt mean that you should argue all the time over minute percentages, this is too juvenile for me even try to figure out. So I tell you this and I tell you this once: Grow up or shut the fuck up
just another day in PCHS
that doesn't really make sense sharose is the one, if anyone, that's crying
I'm literally only here for entertainment now. Why else? The card came out, charlie was right. I suppose it's because you can't admit he was right.
i don't really see what the fuck you and sharose are talking about, legitimately. i mean where were we all proven wrong and him proved right? i don't get it. just magically out of the blue "SEE I WAS RIGHT ALL ALONG" what the fuck right about what
Read through the thread (And that other fermi thread that has since died). See all the articles saying how fermi was delayed and it's rough specs before it came out starting with semiaccurate? And see how you said it was all wrong because charlie was an idiot? The articles are now proven right. That means you were all wrong. Which means I get to say "SEE I WAS RIGHT ALL ALONG". [editline]11:06PM[/editline]
we should make a tv show
This thread is NOTHING compared to the programming subforum.
-snip- you know what, why should I do this. You said you are right, so you prove it.

Release date
The negative view is that the risk wafers are invalid, and Nvidia waits for A3 to come back before it puts in production wafers. That would be the outer bound, Jan 1 +10 +2 weeks, or April 1, Q2 of 2010. (Launched on March 26, 2010 with availability following in April 2010.)
Specs (Of the 470 admittedly)
Since you can only pull off so many miracles with a voltage bump, we hear the A3 production silicon has a top bin of 600/1200MHz, and that is after an average of two shader clusters are turned off. (470's actual specs, as you know, is 607/1215MHz, with 448 CUDA cores (Total of 2 clusters turned off))
Scores (Pre-fiddling)
The GTX480 with 512 shaders running at full speed, 600Mhz or 625MHz depending on which source, ran on average 5 percent faster than a Cypress HD5870, plus or minus a little bit. The sources were not allowed to test the GTX470, which is likely an admission that it will be slower than the Cypress HD5870. (As we know, the 480 got chopped to 480 shaders and they upclocked it to both improve yield and keep the around the same level, or a bit higher depending on the game) There is one bright spot, and it is a very bright spot indeed. No, not the thermal cap of the chip, but the tessellation performance in Heaven. On that synthetic benchmark, the numbers were more than twice as fast as the Cypress HD5870, and will likely beat a dual chip Hemlock HD5970. (Yep, that was accurate too.)
I think that should be good, I think there were a few other articles I could use though. Those are the most accurate, but if you want I can go back to september / october and find the one I'm thinking of that said Q2 if it needed A3.
funny thing you can overclock well over 700mhz without voltage change
Woah now! I was way off on that September October thing. He said if it needed 2 respins it'd be Q2 in JULY. He even said that was where the smart money was.
Each spin is the same 8 weeks as the last hot lot. Adding one puts production silicon out of the door, with the previously alluded to trickle, in late February. A second spin puts it into Q2. If there is anything more, well mid-year is very likely. Smart money is on at least two spins.
I think I even remember linking that one in one of the two fermi threads... [editline]12:01AM[/editline]
funny thing you can overclock well over 700mhz without voltage change
No kidding, they increased voltage to stop some of the transistors from flaking out. [editline]12:02AM[/editline] Waiting on you M_B.
see that wasn't so hard was it all i asked was for you to say where you were right instead of spouting "I'M RIGHT" like a retarded child, without any information as to what the fuck you were right about of that, though, the only thing that really seems all that negative would be the 480 cut down from 512 shaders. i don't really care if hardware gets delayed, never have, and i expected nvidia to have a "respin" as that's their MO, a few times in this very thread i believe i even said i might wait for a 495 or something like that. [editline]07:41PM[/editline]
Waiting on you M_B.
i was typing :(
while you wait, i do think its pretty argeable NVIDIA has done a great job creating a 3.2 BILLION transistor card, more than any other consumer graphics card or processor. They made it happen, without issues, too. (granted you're not doing dumb things, like putting a 500 dollar card in your 30 dollar case, or running a 500 dollar card off a shitty PSU)

Woo hoo! beating the bloody pieces of a once dead horse again just to watch it move. With any luck, some actual information related to this thread will come up while we're watching this quotation grudge match.

I know I shouldn't be posting here, but I will anyway in an attempt to actually post something about the GTX 480 instead of weeks old quotes and random bickering because I don't like said user. The GTX 480 is a good card. Its not G80, but its not bad either. General performance is good, right up there with the 5870 while tessellation perforance is pretty impressive. The big issue with that is we don't have many tessellation heavy games where that makes a difference and with them being so late to the game that gives ATI time to ramp up performance on their side with a refresh. But since that hasn't happened yet, lets cross that bridge when it does happen. With power and heat being the other two big "issues", lets discuss that. First power: If you're in the market for a $500 graphics card, I think its pretty safe to assume that you're not hurting for money to pay the power bill. You can complain about it all you want, but in the end its not going to make a significant difference over any other high-end GPU. Second, heat: Again, this comes back to the "if you're buying a $500 graphics card" argument. If you have that much to spend on a GPU, then you really should have a properly vented chassis. And not only that, its not hard to download something like rivatuner and set up some custom fan profiles to suit your preferences. Thats just some thoughts and opinions on the subject matter. I thought I'd just mix it up inbetween the nonsensical bickering and the "I'M RIGHT", "NO YOU'RE AN IDIOT" that seems to get posted every other reply for the last 10 pages.
It's really not that hot at all. Most GTX 480s load at around 60-70 Celsius with the fan on 60%.
Publicity... the only REAL problem I see with the 470 and 480 is when you have multiple screens. Maybe they already fixed it too, but the cards won't go into power save mode; Some guy said his card would get up to 90 but that's cuz he's a dumbass and used it in a small office w/ fan on auto. My 4770 will heat up my room. lol. Also for the next generation games where they use tesselation heavily, guess who's gonna shine? sure you might say you'll renew your card in 2 or 3 years but who knows, fermi might still have the power given how good it is at tesselation. BTW I tend to like ati a little more but will always go for the best card/price. no need to be a dumbass.
I run two screens and I don't have issues. [editline]08:56AM[/editline] wait your 4770 heats up your room? jesus how big is your room? My 4770 is colder than a freshly cooked hotdog
Well I mean... when I have my server running and my laptop and an unboxed motherboard with my athlon 3200+... [editline]05:08AM[/editline] and 2 crt's :3:
